- The trial against the South Carolina woman accused of driving drunk and crashing into a golf cart, killing a bride who was leaving her wedding, is expected to begin this week. Jamie Lee Komoroski faces several criminal charges including felony DUI and reckless homicide resulting in death. Samantha Miller died from the impact of the crash and her new husband, Aric Hutchinson was critically injured. Investigators say Komoroski rear ended the golf cart they were driving in, speeding at 65 miles per hour in a 25 mile-per-hour zone. Komoroski allegedly told police she was bar hopping prior to the crash and investigators say her BAC was 0.261.

If you notice from her mom’s speech it was all about how much Sam loved her and all about what Sam did for her for her to be a clinician she surely seems to be self absorbed but she is grieving although that’s no excuse for how she is treating Sam’s husband! No matter if the marriage was consummated or not they were legally married when they both said I do and when they got that marriage certificate!!
the absolute last MFing thing I would care about as a mother is the insurance pay out. My kid is dead in the most horrific and unexpected way. Money means fuckall. I sure hope there is some back story we do not know that explains her actions better because the headlines make her a self centered momster.

If she had checked into inpatient treatment, made you tube videos or a drunk driver consequence video, commercial. Shown deep repentance and acknowledged her fault. Then started her AA involvement, I would be more inclined to be okay with 15-20 yrs.

Same the most I’ve seen is 14 yrs. I saw a woman get 14yrs for running over a a pregnant woman. I saw another woman get 4 years for running over and amputating a man’s legs. I’m glad this judge stood on business and wish sentencing for this crime was more consistent.
@@marriejames01I believe the reasoning for this was the fact that she showed literally zero remorse. I am unfamiliar with the cases you are talking about, but did those defendants show remorse or take accountability? I imagine that is what explains Komoroski’s sentence
This was not her first time drinking and driving. She has been arrested several times and I seem to remember reading she had a suspended license at the time of this horrible situation.

Why the drunk drivers almost always unharmed in car accidents?!
I've heard it's because they are relaxed. Their bodies take bigger impact because they don't see any imminent danger. Also typically they r the ones running a red light etc t-boning a car. Look up Jennifer Neville Lake case. Drunk driver t-boned family van. Killed the families 3 children and grandfather.
Apparently it’s because they are so drunk they don’t tense up as they crash.
it is due to the fact that their body is basically loose and limber and just goes with the flow of movements as to where someone who isn't drunk will tense up causing injuries to be more severe because they are going against movements and are not limber.
Because they just flip around like a rag doll.
Because their bodies are entirely relaxed - they have no idea they are about to crash.
The difference between Sam’s mom and Eric’s mom is mind blowing. Her moms was all about “me me me”, while his moms was completely about Sam and how every single person has been affected but especially Eric. That’s wild to me. I heard about how her mom is fighting him on getting her life insurance money, this just backs up what kind of a person she is. How disgusting.

It’s about the dram shop litigation started by Aric as her husband. The lawsuit was against all the establishments that served alcohol to JK that day.
I'm so glad, that she got the max, 25 years! She definitely deserved more, but hopefully the family will feel a little piece with this sentence! I'm glad that she pled guilty, and saved this poor family from going through a trial! And I do believe she is sorry, but for herself!

@ it was pretty far in. It was the man that was in the golf cart with the bride and groom. He was around 6th person that spoke. I cried the entire time watching. In the phone calls, I get the dad is trying to keep her upbeat considering the situation, but where is the tough love making her take responsibility. This is a scandal. You can't put a woman in prison for 25 years because she won't be able to get pregnant after that time. Jamie should have gotten pregnant while she was under house arrest and then the sentence would have been less. Jamie has the right to be able to give birth to a child

I was following and supporting the mother until she went after the husband in court for money even when he was willing to split it with her. I believe it was a settlement from where he sued the bars that served the defendant for over serving.

She has been fighting to have control over Samantha's life insurance and other benefits since her death. She is claiming the marriage wasn't legal because the marriage license had not been filed with the state before she died. Aric has made a settlement offer to her and she declined. She wants it all. I couldn't even listen to her statement because I am so disgusted with the way she has handled all of this.

She is all about her. Since Samantha died, she has been fighting Aric for control over Samantha's money and last name. She said the marriage wasn't legal because the paperwork was not filed with the government before she died. Aric offered to settle with her and she declined and is still fighting for everything. I didn't watch her statement because I am disgusted by her behavior but it doesn't surprise me it was all about her.
I feel better, knowing I wasn’t the only person that thought that. She did not, one time, acknowledge Samantha’s husband or the other victims that were so terribly injured! I kept thinking, that she wasn’t even really being a voice for her own daughter. Like you said, all I heard from that mother was ME ME ME…MY MY MY! Despicable!

I think she’ll be out in 21.25 years which is 85 pct of her sentence minus time served. I think next time we see her she’s 46.333.

Praying for Mercy for her? she's going to get out someday. She's not facing the death penalty! She needs to do time she took somebody's life. It's not just about this case, the sentence is bigger than that. She should get a big chunk. The max is nothing to what has been inflicted upon the victims.
She sat there through all the victims statements trying to look sad, and at one point looked like so was falling asleep. She only cried a little bit during Mr. Garrett's statement but cried a lot during statements from her own family. Kind of seems like she's only sad that she's going to prison, not that she ruined several people's lives.

25 years is an absolute joke. She should rot for life. This is just another instance of how broken sentencing laws are for this type of murder. And don't start with the DUI Manslaughter stuff. What is difference between consecutive and concurrent?
@@peach1267Concurrent means all of the sentences are served at the same time. So 10 + 15 + 25 =just 25 years.

Doesn't matter if she is an alcoholic or not; she chose ti drive that night. Also, alcoholism is an excuse for bad behavior...who knows if she actually even is one. This wasn't 'trouble.' She no doubt drove drunk countless times before. A close friend of mine was killed by a drunk drive at age 27. He made it through Vietnam but not through the actions of someone who was drunk. His son had just turned 3 weeks prior so he grew up never knowing his father. There is NO excuse for drinking and driving.

Unfortunately killing while under the influence does not carry the appropriate sentences. That’s the case here in California, I don’t know about the rest of the states.
