Oh gosh BBC, you make me cry. My, now belated dad and I stopped to look at this together in the late winter in 1992 passing through the land to reach my destination. He sat with me on a bench for a few minutes and said to me "This might be the last time you see this before it's gone. I can't see paying for water when it's free to look at". It was just the most amazing and massive snow and ice natural display I ever saw in person! I can't watch it. I'll cry too hard. My dad 1920-2000. I try hard not to bawl more tears. It was one of the most precious moments I ever had with my dad. Thank you *so* much for posting this. Love from Michigan USA
Niagara Falls, Canadian side, is usually pretty busy. However, after a couple of really cold winter days and nights, head to the falls after dark. Fewer people is the first benefit but more so; the mist will have had a chance to accumulate and freeze on all the hand rails and lamp posts and pretty much everything. You end up with a most remarkable show as mist, ice, light, and the roar of the falls engage in a sensory winter dance. Screw summer, come in winter; truly awe inspiring. (This is not a paid advertisement for Tourism Canada.) 🙂
Me and my husband saw it frozen last February. It was quite beautiful, and the Casino nearby has excellent food. It's definitely a trip everyone should take.
So why don't fish freeze to death? Fish produce antifreeze which they harvest from the protein in their food. It keeps the blood circulating essentially.
I live close and I've seen the falls dozens of times and I admit that the falls are overrated but again that's because I'm so used to them. I can understand however that it's really amazing for a non-local.
I always find it interesting to see how much people want to come to Niagara Falls, I mean I see it pretty much everyday, so in a way I never got that amazement from seeing it for the first time
It's amazing fridged cold right now. 1900 last frize over. But i friend is coming here u can see the under eater still flowing but too lay r is frozen over. Amazing though to see it.
There are 3 Falls - American, Bridal Veil and Horseshoe. From a tourism perspective the Canadian side is far superior and offers the best views / vantage points along with numerous attractions, parks, wineries etc. Plus the Canadian based Hornblower tour boats are modern / larger than the older American Maid of the Mist vessels. Just sayin.
Thats a place where you could experience iced water spray. Dont believe it when the locals say that it isnt cold, especially when you come from the tropic or US West Coast.

I made the same comment to the BBC, why are you not showing the Canadian site even though is the most beautiful site. I thought we Canadians as a British Colony we would rank a little higher than the Americans but also the Canadian site of Niagara Falls are always considered the most beautiful. BBC you dropped the mike on that one.
How does the New York Electric Authority make sure that the water continuously flow? Do they have giant heaters making sure that the ice never forms on the river?
Why are Canada, North America Russia and central Europe seeing increased cold weather? Simples... As Siberia slides up to the geographic north, the huge land mass accumulates more snow and ice and ultimately icebergs, the intense cold is leaking south. As the sea between Greenland and Siberia moves south, the north is losing the benefit of a 'warmer' area which used to help increase the overall temperature in the geographic north pole.
@@creamcheese7845 it's because of climate change. Global warming causes climate change. Winter is colder, summer is hotter. But in average temperatures the earth is getting warmer every year.
Global warming (rising global temperatures) causes extreme changes in weather and climate. Warm places become hotter, cold places become cooler. Some places have climates that are drastically changed. If you have a proper education (system) and actually studied geography/science you would know.

We visited once during a brutal winter. It was beautiful at night when it was lit up too.
Why are you showing the American falls, the Canadian falls is 10x better.
Oh shut up. It's not a competition. Grow up.
Reagan Pup it’s literally right on the boarder...
Both are beuatiful.
Both are beautiful. It's just the horseshoe falls in more iconic to an international audience.
Because too many Canadians were shit faced drunk on the ghetto side.
Wow, beautiful.

cant blame this on trump
Hahaha 👍
Global warming, which Trump refuses to admit. 😛
Wanna bet....Lol🤣😂🤣😂
@@davidreyes1336 The waterfalls froze due to Global Warming? Better blame Trump on that.
It is trumps fault! He makes pollution which blocks the sun so our world is colder
WOW
Wow...!!! 😰😰😰
Looks a TON different than when Pam and Jim got married
Enjoy
Wow
Lol the trees they showed at the end is literally like the only area frozen. I'm from the city.

How does the New York Electric Authority make sure that the water continuously flow? Do they have giant heaters making sure that the ice never forms on the river?
No, it just never freezes. Also, the falls are Canadian.
Yah its really like frozen movie ❄
May Allah bless you. Thank you for sharing.
It looks like it did last year when it happened! Something to do with Winter.

how cold does it have to be to freeze it all the way
And still no coverage of the Yellow Vest movement.
They are casting me WaterfallWhite and we will shoot here now. 😄
I love how they interview an American with Canada as the backdrop...
She isnt American, she's Canadian with her accent
Nope. Her accent is from the Buffalo area. Not Canadian at all.
They were calling it global warming when it was too hot, then it was too cold so they now call it climate change 😂😂
Global warming CAUSES the climate to change drastically, idiot. It's winter in North America so what do you expect.
I live in aus it’s always this damn hot in the Summer. This shit happens every year
@@creamcheese7845 it's because of climate change. Global warming causes climate change. Winter is colder, summer is hotter. But in average temperatures the earth is getting warmer every year.

I read Nigeria falls
really 53 seconds ??? i'm just opening my bag of chips
Niagara Falls is Canadian. Not owned by New York state
Not the whole thing.
this side belongs to usa
The Horseshoe Falls is on the Canadian side.
THE BEST SCENE FROM FROZEN WAS THE GAY BAKER WITH HIS NAKED HUSBAND AND LITTLE KIDS IN THE SAUNA!!
why in the thumbnail it says
Drew Binsky viewers watch this----
:/
OH NO NO
she says "with the creation of the power plant it doesn't freeze". Why not ?
The plant warms the main proportion of water sufficiently enough for it to not freeze when it reaches the falls.
Uh, no. Both plants are downstream from the falls.
lol
