- ASUS has announced the release of its latest smartphone model, the Zenfone 9, in Japan.
We were able to borrow an evaluation device from ASUS and will test its camera performance.
The Pixel 7 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro were prepared for comparison and were photographed under the same conditions as much as possible.
Please use this as a reference when purchasing a smartphone.

If only the Zenfone 9 has a telephoto camera... But the compact design still number 1
some rumours are pointing out that Zenfone 11 might have a 3rd camera, what it would do is beyond my knowledge
This is the perfect comparison video because I'm currently considering these exact 3 phones! I really love the compact size of the Zenphone and that's my main reason to consider it, but the camera looks oversaturated in most pictures and the lack of a macro & telelens is a big downside. Pixel 7 pro's camera is the clear winner here if you take price into consideration, but I kind of think the phone itself is rather ugly. And Iphone 14 pro is just RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE at 1400 euros but apple's design is unmatched.... A hard choice to make, but it will be between the Zenphone and the Pixel...

Depends on what you do more often, taping videos/taking zoom photos in low light (lol)/reading from the screen. The asus, along with its compact size, gives you much less pwm flickering than pixel/iphone, also having dc dimming and LDAC support (almost hifi audio through TWS headphones).
Also, gcam mod installed on the Asus may improve its photo/video capabilities.
@@andrzejkorab Funnily enough, I ended up buying a Sony Xperia 5 IV. Haven't regretted it for a moment. It's the perfect audiophile phone with expandable storage. And also great for photography enthusiasts with the shutter button and pro camera controls. The point & shoot experience is going to produce infinitely more beautiful photos on the Pixel & iPhone, but the Sony takes natural unprocessed pictures. Which I also appreciate. Great phone, but not for everyone. For me it's perfect.
I'm glad for this video since it shows how the Pixel is way overhyped. For me the Asus was #1.
ZenFone photos are the most pleasing visually but they are less realistic due to oversaturation. I want the places to appear as I see them, not to create false memories.
How did you get that out of this video? The motion on the zenphone video was choppy and it was completely smooth on the pixel
true, in fact iphone also falls behind except the running video but at the price point of iphone I would gladly choose zenfone

The zenfone 9 is almost 2/3 the cost of an iPhone 14 pro. Pretty darn good considering!
If the Zenfone 9 had a telephoto lens (even if it were a variant that replaced the ultrawide lens) & 4/5yr software support, it's plausible I'd have one in my pocket as I write this comment... Such a good phone all around, but the software support was what ruled it out of any further consideration in my book.
(I prefer the P7P's cameras overall, but the size would've been a strong motive to go for the Zenfone9...)
really update support is an issue, but why would you want to spend so much time with a phone?

the bootloader is officially unlocked by asus so you could probably install custom roms for the next 10 years
Agree. Not even the telephoto but 2 years of updates makes it literally impossible to give it a try. It's way too short.
@@Dominik-iv6ek Yeah - I worded my original comment really poorly. I could cope with no telephoto (albeit it would make me consider what else I could get & would by no means be an ideal phone), but I can't cope with a measly 2yo of support.

今回のZenfone 9は6軸ハイブリッドジンバル手ブレ補正が他社のハイエンドスマホよりかなり効いてる印象ですね。
写真もIMX766なだけあって、文句なしの画質。ただ、ズームするとそれなりに荒くはなってしまうのでそこは致し方なしって感じがしますね🤔
今年のZenfone 9は完成度が高くなってる分、8の文鎮化問題が再発しないことを願いたいばかり
Evidentially you didn't watch the jogging section of the video. You can see much more video warping in comparison to the other 2 flagships. I can tell that Asus did not spend as much time as would be appreciated on the camera system.
Too much contrast on Zenfone. For me the best photos were taken on Pixel.
Too contrasted but the colors are also very mushy, and at 4:30 there is a halo on everythng, like someone put a 5px wide sharpness filter on photoshop over a blurry picture.

bro? pixel took way better night and zoom pictures (7:30 proves that). Its portrait mode is much better either, and pixel's selfie at 6:26 is also better than the others. Iphone is only better in the video department.

Iphone still unbeatable. But i am an android user, so if i have to pick between asus or pixel, i go for pixel just because it has better stabilization. But as for others, the result is not really that much of a difference. Both HDR are excellent. Maybe the details, but for an average user, you'll find both device have a very high quality images

I will wait for the newer and hopefully much more improved Zenfone model because I can see that the Zenfone 9 has a similar or worse camera to the Samsung S10E.
Generally speaking, my biggest hope is that Asus doesn't sharpen images causing bigger file sizes, or at least give us that option.
LOL. I am literally in the same situation, still on s10e, hoping for some small phone to beat it but there is nothing... I am thinking about 13 mini now. Zenfone 9 seemed great but first of all sharpening, then the contrast and then 2 years of OS updates...

It seems the Zenfone's video stabilization does not work well with sports (Running or biking). And it's lacking detail at higher zooms.
