This is awesome!!! Wow. The song and playing is incredible and the video is great. All of this made me laugh in that way that music sometimes makes you do. Looking forward to more!
wow amazing work! we met many years ago in san francisco through daniel hoffman, when you played with davka... i was blown away then, but this is a whole other level of awesome. i wanted to ask: what is the harmonizer you're using at the beginning? it seems to be what i've been looking for - fully programmable, and with options for other intonations besides ET. thanks & congratulations!
@@PeterJaquesMusic no not at all. You program your chord by picking a note that you will play-say Bb. You get to harmonize that Bb with 4 pitches anywhere between two octaves up and two octaves down. Within that caveat you harmonize any way you want. Then you go to the next note grammatically up and do the same exact thing anywhere you want within two octaves above or two options below per each one of the four notes.
What a killer tune! I'm struggling to find anyone else making use of the IntraMic on the bassoon and am curious as to what your thoughts are on the product? I've tried the Little Jake at one point, and it may have just been the bocal, but it's effect on the acoustic sound and playability was certainly not transparent or comfortable. Do you find the IntraMic makes less of an impact on the instruments playability? Certainly not trying to dig at Trent Jacobs as I'm glad he pushed for a better means to amplify bassoon than many options prior, but I'm just trying to get some insight on other options even if it is an apples vs oranges issue. I watched your one video on it, but would enjoy your insight now that you've had 2+ years with device now. I apologize if you've already addressed this elsewhere and would love it if you could point me in the right direction if that is the case! Thank you for your time and for sharing your playing on this platform! Always a pleasure! Gabe Bazil
Hey Gabe! I'm just going to bed now but I can get back to you with more info. The Little Jake saved my life and is a good system-especially compared to what was out there (Barcus Berry? no thanks!)-because what I had stopped working well. I had an incredible system from 1982-2014 or so-the Flat Response Audio Pickup invented by Arnie Lazarus in the early 70s. It is obsolete and not made anymore and the couple of transducers I had gradually degraded. Actually-I was able to resurrect the FRAPS for recording on this song. They give such a great punchy sound-especially on the low end. But the Intramic is a game changer-I just don't know if the person/company making them can officially get to the point where he has either enough bassoon player interest in the product and/or enough materials to make a bunch of them as there are supply chain issues these days. I love it-but out of all my pickups-the Little Jake is the ONLY one that didn't get moisture in it. It's pretty dang reliable. Only on one concert in the Netherlands my Little Jakes got moisture in them. Since then I have been told that it's best to let them dry off before you put them away. I hope a bit of this helps.
@@jazzbassoonpaul That IS helpful and thank you for taking the time to respond! I had never even considered the issues that moisture could present when using these types of systems! It seems obvious now, but without the experience with it, I wouldn't have guessed such a thing would be problematic beyond the usual. I'll have to look into some of those older systems too, just for grins. 😁 I would imagine reliability realistically comes first considering all of the things that are unreliable about the bassoon experience, lol. Unreliability is part of what got me thoroughly burnt-out by the bassoon, but I'd like to find a reason to get back into it and have fun while doing so! Thank you again for responding! I'll continue looking forward to your future work!
Every few years something comes along along and blows my musical brains . Wow wow wow, this is what music is all about. Saying that only a few music fans will get to hear this whilst the musically challenged plough on through their Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran blandness.
Hey Nicky! I think they’re on the distro kid portal and they will be on the Spotify site but I will probably make another lyric video later. They are truly amazing lyrics
Great musicians, all of them able to do stuff that can't be done on their instruments. Moorea, in particular, combines the skill of an avant-classical specialist, a jazz singer, and a voice actress, and can sing ANYTHING intelligibly. Paul plays lines that would be nearly impossible on sax or clarinet, and plays them on bassoon - a far more difficult instrument. And Tarik is the weakest link here - which means that he's a world-class bass player, just not quite Jaco or Victor Wooton. But: I'm not sure that being able to play ANYTHING means that you should.
That bassoon solo is out of this world. I have heard nothing like it ever in my life.
THAT is da SH*T!!! Go, Paul and crew!
Wow! Very cool.
WOW !!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Wonderfulness......Inspiration....thanks guys.....

Hi Peter-sorry for the delay! It’s a TC Helicon Voice Live II-unfortunately not made anymore. You can still find them online
@@jazzbassoonpaul thanks for the info! it seems to require a person to play the desired harmony on another instrument, is that right?
