I hope you found this canter through my thinking about the practicality, economics and quality of the Lavazza a Modo Mio useful.
What's your take on pods? A great way of simplifying fast and clean coffee, or just too expensive a way of making coffee.

Thanks for this. I stayed at a hotel with one of these and couldn't work out how to use it as there were no instructions!

Just come back from Italy, and have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the coffee produced by this very machine. What also surprised me, was the availability of third party, compatible coffee pods.
The machine is very compact, yes, a wee bit noisy, but makes great tasting coffee. As you say, so much better than the budget ground coffee options.
Alas, I've just replaced my Nespresso machine with a Café L'Or, or I would definitely have opted for the Lavazza Tiny. That said, the L'Or is also an excellent machine, and gives you access to an absolute cornucopia of pod options, including their exclusive XXL pods.

Fantastic. I really like it too - enjoyed using it a lot.
I have found that the eco pods have gotten more expensive though so my plan is for the Lavazza to live in my campervan and I'm now learning how to use a De'Longhi Dedica espresso machine. I've a review of that one too if you're interested:

does this machine can on;y use its pod? and i heard your cat meow?

Aha, I do have a cat so that's a possibility!
Yes, it can only use pods. I've stuck with Lavazza pods but some other companies also make them for the machine.

Economics: for healths reasons, I am drinking decaf coffee made with a French Press.
But I would like to drink one espresso maybe on sundays, and one or two within the week - not drink while reading, watching TV or Internet, but consciously enjoy, it!
For me, economics is okay with the A Modo Mio system. For a portafilter coffee machine, I won't be able to buy less than one kilogram espresso beans at a time where I live, or mail-order 500grams at high transport fee, so 90 percent of the beans will be too old for a good espresso. And honestly said, I don't want to grind beans and do all the steps needed to brew this one cup of espresso, let aside to clink out 200+ Euro for the optimal grinder plus at least 300+ Euro for a machine like a Lelit ANNA PL41EM or similar!

Yes - I think these pods make good sense if you have an occasional cup.
They make a good shot too, though not to the standard of freshly ground from an expensive espresso machine I think.
I tend to have two other three good shots each morning so I found it became very expensive and have now bought a Delonghi Dedica, but I still use the A Modo Mio now and then, and I take it with me if I'm staying at a hotel.

Can i put milk in the water holder instead of water as i like milky coffee?? will it damage the machine??

    • @stewreviews9345

Hi there - I'm pretty sure it would cause damage - I'd expect it to cause problems in the heating element and that you wouldn't be able to clean it...

    What about the milk frother?

    • @stewreviews9345

There's no milk forget/stream wand with this one. That's one of the small sacrifices to the small form factor and low up-front cost I think.
These days I'm using a Delonghi Dedica most of the time. Partly because I get a nice cup of coffee, but also due to the high cost of capsules with the pod machines. In that way I get access to a stream wand.
The a Modo Mio lives on though - comes with me when we stay in a hotel as generally the coffee is lousy and I really can't cope without a half decent cup in the morning...

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the temperature as i find the coffee in mine comes out slightly less hot than desirable

    • @stewreviews9345
      @stewreviews9345  3 года назад

I'm afraid I'm not aware of a way of doing so - the best I can offer is to pour some boiling water into your cup while the machine warms up - coffee into a hot cup is a hotter cup of coffee...

Does anyone know if I can use Starbucks pods with this machine? I have it and I love Starbucks 🥹

I thought they were a different shape. However, I googled it and there do seem to be some people suggesting it works... Personally I like lavazza so I'm fine with that.
