If you decide to play an undehook from half you need to make sure your elbow is high enough to keep the hands from locking. Then paying attention to where your head is. You cannot allow your opponent to crunch your head in if they’re reaching through. Hope that answers your question. Thank you for watching!
your free hand can block the hand connection by staying on the bicep.. if your on your on side with a underhook you shouldn't be laying there waiting to be darced or flattened back out anyways. wrestle up to dog fight/ 50/50 postion and sweep or go to deep half if need be -
@CoreProBJJ it's a great move, I love it. I'm a new brown belt and pulled off a Peruvian neck tie, but I got told off, my coach said he wasn't sure of legality. Thanks a million. I'll defo try this out.
All chokes can be cranks. Never forget this. Whether you're the top guy or the bottom guy. But to better answer your question, no. Its not a crank. And the neck tie variations are known chokes. You won't get a dq for this. It looks cranky because you're kinda mushing his head with your arm/belly. But a choke nonetheless.
@corneliuswellington6670 thanks man. That's what I thought until I got told off for finishing a Peruvian neck tie. Yes chokes can be cranks, I understand that. I'm sure you know some cranks and subs are illegal. If this one is legal though, I'm going to terrify my team mates with this until they catch on!
I have been doing this choke for the past 10+ years. I get this more than pure darce chokes. I go even shallower with my choking arm and stop my choking hand (second knuckle of the thumb) right on the Adam’s apple, so it’s as much a choke as it is a crush and it takes less effort to get the tap
I find this sub from this position to be fundamentally flawed as you take away/trap your posting arm, have no way to defend the most successful sweep from bottom half.
A big factor to take into consideration is how the crunching of the neck takes your opponents spine out of alignment and traps it in place. This makes it extremely difficult to get swept here. I play this choke all the time and haven’t run into that problem. Thank you for watching the video! Happy training! -Nate
Thanks!! One tip: you should change camera angles in showing the techniques:)
100% brutal. I have performed 3 times in one class. It' my new favourite submission for no gi
That’s awesome! I love it too! Thank you for watching!
As a victim of this I can attest this feels like a much stronger choke than the darce
It’s a nasty one! Thanks for watching! -Nate
Im always 3 fingers one thumb grip , such a brilliant choke !!
Lol
Several of my victims tell me that it’s a strong choke but also a crank
great explanation about the belly behind the head.
Thank you! That detail really helped me when I first learned too. Thanks for watching! - Nate
Good stuff, great breakdown
Thanks for watching!
You've reminded me that after 4 years BJJ, I've never once done a darce, anaconda or one of these! Really need to vary my game a bit.
They’re definitely helpful to have in your back pocket! Thank you for watching!
Great instruction on this one!! Well done and thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
Great video. Cant wait to try this.
Thank you for watching!
Awesome stuff!! 🔥
My man! Appreciate you brother! -Nate
So much easier than the darce
I think so too! Thank you for watching!
Love this
Thank you for watching!
trying it tonight
Keep me posted!
so isn't it just an arm in guillotine?
Isn't it illegal in some rules as a neck crank?
The necktie won’t be, as it is a choke! You can and will absolutely put someone to sleep here!
Great video, great technique, and great explanation! I’m definitely trying this next class!
Thank you for watching!
Do you ever do the islam mackachev short darce necktie variation? And what triggers you to do go with that variation?
Absolutely! I love that variation if I can’t get my arms deep enough. I prefer the necktie tho!
How can we defend against this?

Hope that answers your question. Thank you for watching!
Don't get to it...if you already there it's to late
If done right... No can defend

🔥
What's the legality of this in the Gi, or IBJJF? looks a bit cranky
Completely legal! Much like a darce choke if done correct it will be mostly a choke

Savvy
Thank you for watching!
If the guy is able to run away, is it probable to switch to guillotine/ anaconda?
If he frees his legs, the darce is right there. I prefer to use it to pass if they free the legs though! Thank you for watching!

Nice! It’s super solid. Thank you for watching!
