  • In this follow up video to "What's In My Backpack?" I demonstrate how I pack my Osprey 48l with my wild camping gear. The order in which I pack the Exos can sometimes change. The tent can be placed on the outside of the base with straps, on the very top of the pack before the lid is placed down or inside. Occasionally I will place the tent in the very bottom (useful on the Osprey Aether 70 as there is a zip compartment at the base) or in the middle of the pack on top of the sleeping bag, pillow and sleeping mat. At the end of the day, it really is what is comfortable for you.
How I pack the lid, stretchy side pockets and top of the pack is usually the same each time I prepare for wildcamping.

The Osprey Exos 48 is a great pack. It is lightweight, versatile and can carry lots of equipment. This particular model does not have hipbelt pockets, but it has been reintroduced on the later Osprey Exos.

Nice video. On mine I use the removable brain as a bear bag in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, to toss up a limb with parachord/carabiner (I also attach the garbage bag knotted off slightly spaced from the carabiner holding the food, so they both get pulled up by the same paracord, but not touch when hanging).
So logically, the removable "brain" is where I keep my food when it travels as well (bonus food is much less likely to get crushed).
First aid kit goes in the front pouch: fastest possible access, and immediately visible to any others if you send them to fetch it because you are incapacitated, or even if they look for it on their own because you are unconscious
    -Cheers

      Thanks Pedro,
That’s a good idea that, putting the food in the top part of the bag. It’s amazing how much you can actually fit in it. I find how I pack my bag can often vary a lot depending on the weather and the type of destination. All good fun though. Thanks for watching and happy adventures. 😀

Great video, good to see how others pack their kit, I know it’s not rocket science but when I was starting out videos like this helped. Kit and packing is personal to us but in essence the same. Stuff it all in and lift it into your back 😂 off we go…happy camping ⛺️

Everything tends to have a particular order to it, it's just the placing of the tent I play about with the most. If I'm taking my Osprey Aether 70 there is a great zipped compartment at the base with easy access. With the Exos, it can go in the base of the pack if I know the weather is going to be fine, or just under the lid before I compress it all down. Are you doing your tent comparison? What about how you pack your Osprey Aura? Thanks for watching. :)

@@HikingForHealth1 the best thing that I’ve done is take the tent out if it’s bag and stuff it in a dry bag to compress and pack the poles and pegs separately. I don’t use the bottom zipper to pack my sleep system as it’s usually the last thing to come out of the beg anyway. I might do some videos like you’ve mentioned but I feel at the moment I’m more into documenting my adventures 😊

@@SoloSarahBX Absolutely! Keep them coming Sarah! 🏕️ the Karrimor dry bags I have are great and they still sell them on Sports Direct. They have 7 different sizes I think.

Depending on the weather, I also like to put mine just under the lid as the compression straps pull it in tight. If I take my Aether 70 it has a separate zip at the base for quick access to it. Nice to have options. Thanks for your comment! Atb 👍🏻

Hi! I don’t take a lot of Vlog equipment, my iPhone and a DJI Osmo Mobile 6. My pack ranges between 11/14kg depending on what I take on the day 😀🏕️ Thanks for commenting. Crikey 22kg. I’d need my aether 70 for that.

So you get to camp empty rucksack first to get to rent.

No not always. I put on the video that I sometimes put the tent on the outside of the bag or in the middle of the pack. When I did that I was really thinking about a dry summer camp. Usually now I put the sleeping bag in first with the memory foam pillow, then the sleeping mat and the tent sits around the middle. Then I put the food bags, clothes bag on top. On a recent wild camp I show packing my bag again on my Salt Cellar camp. That’s how I usually do it now. Always a learning curve. 😀👍🏻

ye, i,m learning all the time, I have the exos 48 and find you've got to pack in such a way as to get the balance right,at the moment I'm using the atom packs mo 50 the easiest rucksack to pack it's just a cylindrical tube .

@michaelpenney3775 I feel I’ve got my packing for the Exos 48 just how I want it now. Tent in the middle to get the balance right. Although sometimes I pack it exactly the same as the time before and it doesn’t feel right! Lol
