I always felt that, based on the item description, the church members becoming the most foul beasts was commentary on the result of holy men trying to repress themselves. If the blood causes one to give in to urges and push you over the edge, causing the inner beast within humanity to manifest, who has a worse inner beast than those who have been repressing themselves the longest?
That is actually a theory I know of on why some people just sprout fur and distorted limbs and other really do look like beasts. That the longer you try to stay human and live as one the larger and more beast like you will be when you finally slip.

This makes me think of artorias, and how he couldn't use his right hand due to what happened in the abyss. It seems symbolic of how the right hand path was closed off or denied to him, forxing him to take the left hand path and go berserk.
It's actually his left arm that was unusable. Artorias has been hinted at to be left handed.
@@NorthWolf97 He is left handed. His right hand was his shield hand. He has a pauldron on the right hand wich is used to nulify the blind spot of a shield. And he had to leave his shield behind since he couldn't carry it anymore.
As stated it's his left arm that's broken. This is due to him being largely based on Guts from Berserk and Guts has a damaged left arm.

As others have said it's the left arm of artorias that hangs limp. But your analogy still applies- in game and in all concept art, even without a damaged arm concept art, artorias is right handed, wielding his same sword in his right hand. That means in game, artorias being a right handed swordsman wields a greatshield in his left hand. (He has matching pauldrons on each side so idk why people claim otherwise.) artorias's ability to defend from the left is gone. Not only can he literally not defend against manus but he can't defend from the left at all - and manus IS occult personified because occult was ds1 dark which is just humanity. So great catch on that just wrong arm.

Anyone notice the giant nails sticking out of the Cleric Beast's arms and legs? It is almost as if it was locked away to keep out of sight. Perhaps other members of the Healing Church were exsanguinating it for their own "baptisms" or to recycle the blood it consumed.
There's a sleeping church giant with a ball and chain where the Cleric Beast spawns from. He sleeps even before the Night cycle. The cleric beast broke free beacause of him lmao

I love how you linked the Wendigo and the Cleric Beast, but I think that the link is even clearer with the Vicar Amelia. Cannibalism is the last solution, solution that transforms in monster, the Wendigo. Amelia has at her last resort to become a monster, to become the Holy Monster of the Healing Church, in the same place as her master Laurence, but in a nightmare

Really enjoyed this video! It's fascinating to hear about all the things that may have inspired this boss design.
As a neat addendum to the left hand path segment it is worth noting that the latin word for *left* is *sinister* , i always find fascinating how words can evolve hrough time even if it means embracing a whole new meaning in the end or seeing their prime meaning being almost forgotten.
And for all things sinister in bloodborne, i think that the church's assasin Brador (whom disguise himself as a cleric beast) is quite the embodiement of the word, if cleric beasts are indeed the most devot turned monster, what does it say about the man wearing their skin ?
Something I noticed recently is how the Hunter Garb hat has a similar shape to the Cleric Beast’s head and horns. I’d like to think that this was intentional and alludes to how the hunters eventually become beasts themselves. The fact that the player is quite likely to be wearing that set when they fight the Cleric Beast is just perfect, too

This vid is rad, and quite frankly I didnt even make the conneftion between the Cleric Beast and a Wendigo. Kiiind of obvi in hindsight but my first thought was always Werewolf lol.
Quick Audio tip:
Record 5 seconds of no talking before you begin recording, and use that 5 seconds for noise reduction. This can help reduce that static sound. In addition, generating silence between speaking clips helps null the static.

Regarding left arm if I remember correctly dlc's old hunter set speaks about evil comming from the left site of the body or something like that.

I did have the same image in my mind when I saw it, A wendigo, I was more concerned about its right arm though which Me and my friend gave quite the peculiar nickname to the cleric beast lol

I simply feel like the most important part of the cleric beast and vicar amelia, is the antlers, and the deer symbolism, coming to the conclusion that "this is your prey" since deer are the most common "prey" for hunters ( both in the old and modern days ) - I would say they are also symbolizing the "predator" at the same time for looking like a wolf, but I would give that title for Gascoigne instead, who becomes the true manifestation of a predator, beaing a threat to you, the hunter
The Wendigo aspect makes so much sense once it's pointed out.

It mentions canine hunger, which can be linked to the canine head or dog like appearance, even more so when it mentions "nor frenzy" which obv is a status effect in the game, had this boss been a bit later in the game im sure it would have been able to proc frenzy lol..
Granted that would have been absolute hell to deal with so early on.
Herbert was probably turned into Norbert to make it more appropriate to the Transylvanian setting. Norbert is a common Hungarian name, while Herbert is much more English.
I'm pretty sure Norbert is the blood minister from the beginning of the game.

Henriett was an old hunter though. She had to have been dead long ago. Unless cleric beasts have like high longevity, i'd say by everything else, she could be a very fitting candidate!
Unlikely. The Cleric Beast must be a cleric from the healing church since clerics transform in the most grotesque beasts.

I mean its kinda of a simple the clergymen and women turns into the most terrible beast of them all due how the longer you and i deny ourselves that one piece of chocolate when we finally snap and decide to indulge ourselves we go overboard and binge it's a thin line of moderation (or blood consumption and what not)

Is there any theory that Bloodborne have some of alchemist? I think about it a lot last days. Chalice dangeon is full of crave and have some contact of castle where live queen what is immortal somehow. There is no explain how they made it but I will try find out if have any % of right to think that way.

Weren't they? They messed with blood that they had no knowledge about,they poisoned their own people,putting priests to throw a powder in the Old Yharnam water supply that when merged with blood that is not infected created the ashen blood dissease only to after be like "hey y'all we have this blood that can cure anything". Basically they poisoned their own citizens so they can experiment on them with the Old Blood.
