I explain there that because this week was The Big Move week I had to prioritise certain releases and will get to others later down the line. I've also had a cold this week which hasn't helped matters. Pretty much any release from the last few weeks that I haven't gotten to will be reacted to eventually!
thanks for the reaction, kaia! dokkaebi (goblins) are nature deities with a fondness for playing tricks. in korean lore, the blue flames are dokkaebi fire and the spirits frequently inhabit household objects (like brooms). the ending feels like the aftermath of one wild fever dream/trip. 😂 this mv is soooo much fun and i think you'll really enjoy the album.
This was not debut energy. This was comeback energy. Knowing KQ's training style and their focus on growth and Eden-ary's production quality and creativity, like Ateez, it will feel like Xikers aren't rookies anymore in about 3-4 comebacks. And I'm absolutely here for it.
I'm so proud of ATEEZ and KQ lol and I'm still a new atiny. Everything I hear is that ateez built KQ, but KQ also had to support them and they seemed to have done a pretty good job.
I've been trying to find more info about the blue flame and brooms in goblin folklore (I think I'm going to have to break down and read an actual book about it since the internet isn't providing much so far lol). BUT the brooms immediately brought to my mind Oneus's performance of Lit on Road to Kingdom, where Ravn had magical powers and turned the backup dancers into brooms standing on the stage. I keep reading that goblin spirits tend to inhabit household items like brooms, so maybe it has just become the standard reference for them idk. Also since the description of their name as hikers searching for coordinates through time and space (which sounds weird but I'm ready to get on board) it makes me think that they are goblin spirits who jumped into the world where that man lives to cause chaos and bring excitement into his life, and once that was accomplished they left, leaving their brooms uninhabited? Also there are plenty of aspects to the mv that suggest their ability to actually move strangely through time and space. In the opening scene, the graffiti all over the train is actual lines and adlibs from the song, which suggests to me that even though it's the beginning of the song (and of the story for the man), Xikers have been there before, so they might have come back in time to shake up this guy's life. Maybe I've just watched too much Doctor Who with its "timey-wimey" concept lol. Anyway, there is TONS to think about in their world already, so I'm super excited to see what comes next!
such good performers! i've seen a lot of their pre-debut stages, but i got extremely excited for this debut when i saw their Countdance cause i KNEW they were gonna go all out with the facial expressions Hunter is truly a gem
I find it so funny how nearly every reaction to this MV never pauses it and they're just... mesmerized. Even the most talkative reactors who pause and rewind, everyone is speechless lmao
yea hongjoong is heavily involved in every song of this album (lyrics, composing and arrangement and i think even in their lore details) that's includes this song too anyone hears the album can hear his and eden sounds in that but xikers are like ateez the rappers write their rap lines too and i think their leader minjae do composing
Thank you for the reaction. I absolutely love this MV, it definitely exceeded my expectations. My Main bias is Choi Hyunwoo since KQF2 introduction days. The other biases below Hyunwoo are Jinsik and Junghoon, basically the vocal line. About the album, I listened to it few times. My faves are Tricky House, Rockstar and Doorbell Ringing. Xikey and Oh My Gosh are also bangers. In the other songs of the album, if I'm not wrong, Jinsik and Hyunwoo are in charge of the pre choruses and bridges, including Junghoon/Seeun/Yujun. I love Hyunwoo's high notes in Oh My Gosh. Also love it when he harmonizes with Jinsik. Junghoon has a very soft voice in Doorbell Ringing, I know it's him 🤞. I'll be waiting for a song which is more vocal focused in the next album but overall, the debut album is 10/10. 🔥
