Good job buddy! I appreciate your disclaimer about your experience, but all the same, this is how a lot of us learn, trial and error and through experience. 2A fam OHRAH!
I've been looking at that same forend. Looks good. This was a big help. Also, I've heard that the metal OEM heat shield will scratch up your barrel, so that's actually the one you want. The only problem was that with the running water sound I had to get up 3 times to go to the bathroom. Worth it! 😄
My 2 cents. Hit up mcarbo. Buy their trigger spring kit. It knocks pull weight down by about half. You are only out about 20 dollars. Its amazing. 2nd thing. With the trigger out. on the mossbergs. You will notice a hole on top of the trigger. That is how they factory set the trigger position. Its a little bitty ass allen. But if you play with it. You can pull most of the pretavel out of the trigger. Dont fuck with it too much. You can overtighten to the point of firing. Buyer beware. If you do it properly. You will have a shotgun that has a trigger that is closer to a 1911 or higher end ar. For sights. I tell people to run tritium. Fiberoptics are great if you have light. If not, you are hoping for the best. Meprolight makes a tritium front sight post for this rifle. 23$ on optics planet. Glows damn bright. At 3 am you have a nice happy little reference to use.
Hey bro. I know this is a year old. But I've been interested in that forend. But the reviews are terrible. I think too many shot gun snobs were being too hard on it. I think you helped me chance my mind . Got any follow up vids on that maverick. Curious to see how that forend has lasted.
Nice video and upgrades to your Maverick 88. Few aftermarket products will stand up to very heavy shotgun use ( hundreds of rounds per month). After trial and error, I’ve had the best success with these companies: Hogue, Magpul, Choate, Wilson Combat, Vancomp, Trijicon, Elzetta and Surefire. A duty use fighting shotgun can start with a used Mossberg or Remington Police Magnum but can still run up to and over $600 by the time you’re finished. My next build will be a minimalist home defense shotgun starting with a very old Maverick Security model. I’ll re-crown, polish and port the barrel then swap to a white front sight bead. For best fit , cut down the stock and add a new butt pad for a 13 inch length of pull. For reloading, put a Velcro shell carrier on the receiver. No light, no sling, no red dot, no bayonet, no heat shield, no laser. Just five in the tube and six on the carrier for work at up to fifteen yards. 😀
I’ve hit slugs on steel at 50 yards with just the stock bead sight. I have minimal modifications to my mav, a pistol grip, and an extendable composite stock with a gel shoulder pad added (for my girlfriend). Pistol grip helps a lot with stability and accuracy. To me, a properly modified shotgun is the most versatile gun. They can be used almost as a rifle with the right slugs at longer than expected shots as well as home defense and close quarters
I just paid for my maverick 12 gauge with upward folding stock. I can’t wait to pick it up on the third. I’ve ordered my goodies from the van Amazon as well and they will be here before I pick it up.
Best upgrade was the fiber optic sight lol. Good vid tho, I appreciate you showing that it doesn’t take 5 seconds, and everything goes in perfect on the first try
Sling and good sights yeah sure, you bet.extra ammo storage on the gun, no thanks. I believe anything I use for self defense should be as light as possible. Combat is fast people, don't slow yourself down.
New subscriber from Vancouver Canada. Gr8 video. Thank you I am looking to buy Moss 88 soon. I just got the Churchill shotgun but not many gadgets for my shotgun. Thanks for the video.
The best thing for a shotgun is the least amount of shit. If you must have extra ammo strapped to it go with velcro saddles you can just add a new strip for refill. Plain fore grip get a flashlight barrel clamp with a switch glued to foregrip. For sights just go simple ghost rings suck for accurate shot mostly (imo) i tried for hunting which is the best practical test for a shotgun and they sucked. (I have rifle with ghost ring sights and can hit with it, but a squirrel on the run shotgun sucks with them. Just remember the better target is a small moving target to train for when you can hit them then big moving targets are much easier. Also i have the 28in barrel with accu-choke xxxl and hit ducks at 70 yards out (DON'T SHOOT SLUGS) 18.5 modified choke for home security.. Looking for a 20 inch barrel with accu-choke that will be the ultimate between barrel IMO. No more long range hunting shots ,but better accurate shots for home defense. Rocking a 1980's Mossberg 500A. Wish i would have grabbed a 590A1 back in the day when the market was flooded could grab a used one for $200 back then.
I would really like to upgrade my Mossberg Maverick 88. But I cannot. I have been waiting three years for a 18.5 inch barrel. Mossberg says the barrels are out of stock. I cannot get one. I am not happy with Mossberg customer service. Mossberg makes a fine product. But their product support is very poor. Three years and still no barrel. Poor poor poor service.
Man that’s tuff I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about the maverick from country boys and city boys. Seems to be a all round good shotgun for everything from sporting to defense. Will be scoopin one soon and definitely gonna copy your build lmao.
Sorry, Mossberg 88 and Upgrades don't belong in the same sentence. You don't hang chandeliers in outhouses. Anything you put on it is going down, fast. It was meant to be a simple, inexpensive but quite effective, working mans' shotgun. No frills, just kills.
Thanks for the video. I understand the urge to customize a budget tool to make it “more better”. The commercial firearms after market industry thrives on that customer urge. It is more practical to restrain the impulse to bolt on stuff that will only fall off. The Maverick 88 needs only a: quality light mount, light, sling and professional instruction or at least guided practice for safe and effective operation.
My man !! You put all of your cash into firearms and their up grades. But yet you want spend a few cents for a battery replacement for your smoke alarm? ( D ) dog. That's slack as all getup.
Should have spent a little extra money on a battery for that smoke detector.....
😂😂
This guy smh
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
It be like that sometimes 😂
OMG......that chirping was driving me crazy!
lol smoke alarm going off in the back
The only video I found showing the whole process of removing the forend on the 88. Thank you!
Would you be able to link all upgrades please?
Bruh your smoke detector needs a new battery.
Thanks for the list of things to add to my new shoulder killer 9000

You didn't put names or links to any of the products you installed.
can we get a update on how its holding up and after how many rounds?

Great job amigo. You gave me the confidence I needed to try this on my own.

Can u send the links for where to purchase these upgrades?
I heard the fire alarm beep!!!

That smoke detector made my dog anxious as hell...
Having a little trouble putting it back together?
I've been looking for a forend like that because the Magpul won't fit my 500 or 88.
I'm OK with the stock look on both Mossberg Mavericks, the 18.5 and the 20 inch 7+1. Good job though.
anyone know with this version of the 88 with the two little prongs attached to the forend, if there is a MAGPUL conversion kit?
Best upgrade was the fiber optic sight lol. Good vid tho, I appreciate you showing that it doesn’t take 5 seconds, and everything goes in perfect on the first try

@@multikillerpro1 Shooting and having fun. A good home defense round as well.
Opsol mini clip 12g Mossberg you will love it
Have you shot the DIckson arms shotgun with the red dot you had on it ? How did the that red dot work attached to it ? Did it survive the recoil ?
Is your bathtub overflowing?
Ain’t no way your smoke detector is beeping in this video 😂😂😂
It's stereotypical, isn't it?
hey thank for tip and heat shield is it metal or plastic
He said plastic :)
Can we get a fish tank tour soon?
That makes it look so good.....great job man
Nice job! Looks good!
Where the parts from
The plastic (fiberglass) heat shields are actually better. I have seen the metal heat shields get so hot, that you might as well have nothing at all.
Nice job!
Awesome Video, How Did It Feel While Shooting? Anything Loosen Up? 💪
Excellent video…thank you sir 👍👍👍
I hope you take some of the ad Rev from this video and improve the quality of the video and audio
Thanks
The video is 50% finished when you don’t include at least the names of the items used if not the links.

What exactly would you attach to the side of the new forend?
Flashlight
Thanks for sharing!
Le Mossberg est vraiment le gun polyvalent par dessus tout !
Where you buy all the accessories?
I like second hand Pown !
Nice!
Nice video
For as much as he spent on upgrades he could have bought another 88.
Ya, I have other better shot guns that I plan on upgrading. I will keep my 250 dollar shotgun with minimal upgrades.

See if the 535 barrel is compatible I have an extra one. And it's choked

the maverick is too good to pass up at the price, specially when you can catch them on sale for as low as $175
lol classic black guy with the beeping fire detector in the background
Lol, I know right?
Buy $250 shotgun, add 500 worth of stuff...
Folding stock bruh
