I think my biggest unfortunate complaint about Geoguessr pros is that there is a lot of meta play. It kinda makes me sad that the car and antenna is such a reliable tool. It makes it more a pattern recognition game rather than actual knowledge of the world. I understand the car isn't everything but whenever I see people's logical reasoning be the car it makes me wish Geoguessr would just make a black void the radius of the largest car if looking down. No car input at all.
not just the car, but quality of camera, insects on the lens and other bits and bobs make it less a geography game more of a google maps game, but most of the metas (street signs, road conditions, road markings) arent like that.
To be fair, you could say the pure geographical part of Geoguessr is also pattern recognition, but I get what you're saying. It almost feels like cheating, but it's still highly impressive.
There's a script that blocks the car, which gets a decent bit of use. People are still really good, but it definitely makes things harder. (I might start practicing myself without car soon, I need to lessen my dependence on meta when playing.)
This is so weird: a couple of these I actually got right with my first gut feeling, and with others I was like "WHAAAT!?" Hi, quick question: Just started playing GeoGuessr and used the "QuickGame" mode a lot. I've got the same places four or five times in one hour now. Any guesses how this is possible?
Honestly in the first image, I guessed it was united states cause of the trash on the ground and roughly in the central eastern states due to the foliage. If youve ever gone hiking around there then you see that all the time in brush like that. Just plastic trash bags ripped up and stuck in thin bushes/trees.
Dude literally said this hill looks Nigerian
New Polish Trees meme just dropped
Just something about it man idk 😂

Nigerian hill
The way Kodiac recognized gravel on a random road in Uganda is absolutely insane to me
I mean, that's classic Ugandan gravel.
It is insane. Just think about how huge the world is!
I mean Uganda has like maybe 20 roads outside of the city covered
Instantly recognisable Ugandan gravel piles
yes its insane but if he studied uganda it makes sense because outside of kampala there are only a few roads covered that are pretty distinct
Geoguesser players are the embodiment of “I recognize that tree, see you soon.”
The trees looked too polish.
“Are the trees dead?” “Yep” “It’s Hungary” 😂😂
