Or their power? Their tone? Their realism? Their tuning? Their pronunciation? Their smoothness?
Well, normally people wouldn't actually care about comments like the one I posted, but seems like I have to specify that it is my OPINION, thus my preference. If I had to explain, then it is because the original is very "flat" and doesn't carry as much emotion as this one, which in my opinion, is better because of the great tuning (which makes the lyrics' transition much more natural), strenght of the voice, and even the voice selection itself seems more appropriate to me (In other words, I believe that it doesn't fit Miku's standard voice. Perhaps an append would fit better).
Paolo Zambrana : I'm especially irritated by comments that demonize the original song, because without the original song, there would be no fantastic covers such as these. When stating an opinion, it is best to imply that your opinion is subjective and not objective. "I prefer the cover because of [point A] and [point B]" and not "The cover is better than the original".
As for your points, I also prefer akem's cover and other covers over the original, but I'd like to give it some credit. The original, you noted, is very "flat" and strengthless. I believe that that was intentional and DECO*27 deliberately chose that tone to best express his message. Perhaps it personifies the weakness or hopelessness of the narrator's situation. akem's version and many other artists' versions use very powerful voice banks and strengthen, even change, the tone of the song. It goes from helpless to angry, which I think perfectly encapsulates the essence of a cover--the act of singing the same song but changing the meaning to make it your own.

And maybe everything is intentional. Maybe the emphasis is on the lyrics and melody. It is artistic license. It still doesn't justify comments like "This is better than the original".
If we're comparing things here, then I'd say Miku is more smooth than Ruto. That doesn't mean that the original is better than the cover--it means that the original has qualities that the cover doesn't and you may or may not prefer those qualities.
(Ruto tends be very choppy/grainy like Meiji and, although her voice is beautiful, it's limited. She almost sounds monopitch like Matsudappoiyo, which I personally do not prefer. akem's cover also has a bit of engine noise, either due to the mixing or Ruto's voice bank quality.)

The Overlord Bear's Den Agreed. One of the biggest problems with the original for me is Miku just sounded kinda flat (probably not the right term but you know what I mean). This version added that emotion and power that the song needs to shine
