+Tony Vissoc I totally agree. When I hear Dokshizer, I'm not hearing a trumpet. I'm hearing his voice. And as you've pointed out, it's an extension of his soul. No doubt!
Probably the Best version of Rhapsody In Blue I've heard along with Al Hirts version, too Dokshizer's clarity and intonation are as perfect as you can get on a trumpet. A Virtuoso for all times!
You know you have good stuff on your hands when the comments are honest and knowledgeable, and there are no dislikes :) Loved this piece thanks for uploading! Going to make it my summer break goal to transcribe it!
You can listen to trumpeters for the test of your life and you will never find anyone who plays Rhapsody in Blue with the intonation and precision of Mr. Dokschitzer. You'd think he'd grown up in New Orleans. Maybe Marsalis could do as well. I think he could play this with any horn.
I think timofei dokshitser Album Jewish melody is his "swan song" recording 1997 a lot of beautiful song and arrangements in this album , but I cannot find it now nobody no CD shop selling it , I looking for it very long time already , so I guess only very small produced maybe less than 500 pieces
That is correct. There was a small issue of the CD, “Trumpeter on the Roof”- 200 units I believe, and I was personally the distributor in the United States for the recording. All copies were sold.
Thanks for uploading this. Dokshizer was the master but so many of the recordings on youtube are poor quality because of their age. This is beautiful, though - really shows his artistry.
@pchantreau Thank you for your comment. I agree, his performance is out of this world! I just posted another song, so look for it on my channel. Thanks!
TD is certainly one of the greatest. He played everything on on a Bb horn (a Benge, I believe). Such a pity the recording/production tech was rather primitive in those days, for we are hearing perhaps 50% of the fidelity.
This is great. I recently bought a '73 Benge MLP 3X+ in great shape and it is a wonderful horn. I also have a '72 ML 5X.I'm a lucky guy. For some reason this is posting under my wife's name
Thanks, I lost my mp3s for this CD. Possibly the greatest trumpet sound next to Maurice Andre and Mendez. I have some Andre and Mendez uploads on my channel.
I would like to share with you his recording of my father's, Iosif Andriasov, trumpet concertino that he recorded for the 'Melodya' label. I created the video. Iosif Andriasov - Trumpet Concerto, Op. 14 (Trumpet: Timofei Dokshizer)
***** Dokshizer published his arrangement of this piece with Editions Marc Reift. The catalog number is EMR629H. Here's a pdf sample of the score: www.reift.ch/fichiers/pdfbooks/EMR629H.pdf You should be able to find it through most music dealers.
how is a middle school band playing this its just way too advanced if your playing the correct version just saying they played this CORRECTLY in philly pops
Good Lord, that bend in the beginning is mind blowing and that crisp, fluid tone throughout paralyzing. 🎶🎺
My favorite classical trumpet soloist...so much animation and passion in his playing. Nice touch with the wah-wah mute @ 4:20.
Absolutely my favorite classical player too. So musical and expressive.
This is the best classical trumpet player in the world and he still has no equal
I think that trumpet is an extension of his soul. Fantastic! I almost stood up to applaud from the chair at my computer.
+Tony Vissoc I totally agree. When I hear Dokshizer, I'm not hearing a trumpet. I'm hearing his voice. And as you've pointed out, it's an extension of his soul. No doubt!
@@DavesTrumpet I agree...similar to an opera singer.
I'm very young. I can't imagine, in any of the countless years I have left, hearing music that reaches me at the same level as this does.
so true, I am old. but this man is unparralelled except for perhaps Nackariakov!
Very nice sound!.. So much passion, animation ,crisp tone...articulation...Awesome!!!
A master of his profession, one in a million!.That trumpet can do anything he wants.Great post much enjoyed.Brilliant!!!!
Absolutely! Well spoken, Ken!

Been listening to his albums since the early 80's. Man do I feel alive when I listen to him play. Amazing would be the understatement of the century.
I'm going to burn my trumpet, the entrance is unbelievable, as is the rest of the piece.
Thought I was listening to the actual band playing it! As a trumpet player myself, THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks DavesTrumpet; his glissando in the intro is just out of this world, as is all the rest of the of the performance.
KING OF TRUMPET!
Absolutely!
I've heard a lot about Timofey when I was in Russia. He had being unrivaled at that time.
I myself had played trumpet in military orchestra and circus on the stage.
Maurice André
I feel like many people go the glissando in the begging too quickly. I find it to be perfectly timed here. It adds a lot in my opinion.
Fantastic! Master!
Well Dave, you pulled one out of the hat with this release. It has taken everyone by surprise, particularly the trumpet players.
THANK YOU for this! This is my favorite trumpet player and recording of all time.
Rhapsody in Blue is the first music I bought by myself . It was 1963 Christmas night! Unforgetable. Thank you for posting this nice interpretation.

I might make a lamp out of my Selmer trumpet after hearing this.
wow! virtuoso playing, great orchestra and arrangement & a timeless composition - thanks for sharing !
Outstanding performance, super tone and dynamics. Thanks for sharing
Just an incredible musician!
This is an amazing video of the great trumpeter. Thank you Daves.

@mmheinzelmann Thanks for your kind words, Michael!

Oh my god this is SO good
+Wilken TV I agree! He was one of the best ever!
DavesTrumpet yeah!
one? he IS THE BEST
Timofei - There is no substitute !
Diáfana claridad ,brutales y precisos ataques .Sensacional el histórico e inigualable Timofei.
Thanks for your comment, Noah. It is a GREAT piece of music!
wonderful!!!
This is available on iTunes under the album "Rhapsodies," released posthumously in 2008. Rhapsody in Blue is track #1.
Buying this, playing this. GAWD DAYUM.
5 Stars David, Thanks for Posting and Happy New Year
Happy new year 2020 if u still have this youtube account lol
@pchantreau Thank you for your comment. I agree, his performance is out of this world! I just posted another song, so look for it on my channel. Thanks!
Contrabassoon @ 7:10?
Awesome, isn’t it? I love it. Might just be a regular bassoon.

Those are great horns! Dokshizer played a lacquered brass Benge MLP from around 1973.

Your father was a great composer. I really enjoyed. Timofei Dokschitzer is my favorite trumpet virtuoso.
I play Trumpet for my middle school band and we are playing this song at the fall festival! I just love this song.
Where can I get the sheet music to this?

BENGE TRUMPET!!
Yep! An early 1970's Benge MLP (3x+)!
So much better on the trumpet than the clarinet
Beautiful, He makes the Trumpet sound similar but better than the Clarinet.
I am sure that it is a simplified arrangement, I played this in high school, the ENTIRE piece.
Tom and Jerry!
