Her attitude does improve as you advance through the game. The dialogue is really repetitive it the game at at points the combat is litterally painful. Cramps from repetitively pushing the same button. over and over. But as hopes were not too high going in overall I enjoyed it. If I had been super hyped going in and not totally blind I am not sure where I would stand on it.
This was a very fun game. Let’s be honest, no one picks up a game saying “I hope the dialogue is excellent!”😂Most games are actually cheesy when you think about it. People just went overboard with the criticism and didn’t really give this a fair shot.
I enjoyed this game! Unfortunately, most people who checked out the game were so turned off by the initial story beats and dialogue that they weren't able to get to a part where the game actually becomes awesome (basically once you unlock all of your spell types). I wish that did all happen much earlier in the game because that's truly when it shines!
Me as well. I thought of what the studio could have been with more polish. We will never know now. Once that negative hype train started rolling, everyone jumped aboard.
I can see there is some appeal when you get all the spells, but in the end, the core of it is the world (open world) and the enemies. It's just so boring! So I don't see how it shines or becomes awesome, except maybe for a little moment of initial excitement of getting all the spells. And there are many other fantastic action/open world games, such as: Souls series and Elden Ring, Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Spider-Man games, Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, etc. If you want female protagonist there are thing like Horizon games (Zero Dawn, Forbidden West) or NieR games (such as NieR: Automata). There are even free games like Genshin Impact. Like why would you spend money on this game?
@@heronumber009 I am probably a much more casual gamer than you and therefore maybe my standards are lower but I did not find it boring. Repetitive sure, but not boring. The combat system is too fun! Now, the story, the characters, the dialogue, the lack of enemy variety, repetitive missions I understand are all reasons for someone to hate the game. But I stuck around through the whole thing (plus DLC 😊) because all of that other stuff took a backseat to the fun factor I experienced doing hardcore parkour combo magic! I don't fault you for requiring a more holistic experience to justify the time you spend with a game but to say that every other person should just absolutely avoid it altogether saddens me.
It all depends what is your main interest in a game. Different people like games for different reasons. Me for example, I love deep storytelling and immersive worlds with well designed characters. And for a first time in my life I am refusing to play a game because of the main protagonist. She is sooo unlicable that its actually unbelivable. The choices for key mapping was also a bit of let down. Holding a single button and here I am parkouring like a pro. I was expecting more complex combo of buttons to execute that. Same goes for the combat.
@@serafima2 The movement is actually something they nailed! That part never gets old and once (if) you get yours hands on it, you'll be thankful the parkour is just a button hold because of all of the other aspects of the combat you have to worry about. So trust me, it's plenty complex! Each magic type has both attack and support spells and you're fully expected to swap between mid-battle so be doing some finger gymnastics. And honestly, I would put it on the same level as Devil May Cry (which is a compliment).
Fortunately I don’t pay attention to haters. Most people aren’t capable of thinking for themselves. The game is pretty fun, not perfect, but definitely a breath of fresh hair. And I like Frey and her dialogue.
I'm gonna give this a go. I bought it on release day, played the first hour and stopped.. I heard the did some patches " I think" so maybe after I finish avatar I'll go back into this again
@@WhSpRz_366 the magic combat, stringing elemental spells together is fun as hell, and very dynamic, especially when surrounded by dozens and dozens of enemies. The magic parkour is the best transversal I have experienced in any game. But I had to pause it because Avatar came out, lol 😝

Forspoken players try not to be toxic, challenge = impossible. Frey is a complete selfish and insufferable bitch throughout the entire game. The game is vast and empty of any content. Gameplay is just button mashing. Story is an Isekai cliche. There’s nothing good about Forspoken.
Please do a full review, you are definitely one of the better video game youtubers at the moment and you tell it how it is, and that deserves utter respect. Love your humour and content. You're ALWAYS a must watch 👍👍
I actually liked the overall art style and gameplay of this game. Which made it so unfortunate, because Frye’s attitude was horrible the whole time. It would’ve been cool if she never made it out of the fire, and this world was just a limbo for her to fight through, and realizes she’s been a crappy person, but no.
Great Video. I played Forspoken back in July. I have to say I had a really fun time. I really enjoyed the combat and the traversal. It was never a chore getting from A to B due to the magic parkour and the fast travel system. The number of spells / spell challenges made for good variety during combat and kept battles interesting. It is a lengthy platinum due to the number of collectibles but overall it’s much better than the reviews suggested.
Her character seemed to bother so many people but she never really bothered me. 🤷🏻♂️ And why wouldnt she speak like she's in New York? Never got that comment. Maybe its because im a teacher and she sound like what i hear all the time from 5th graders.
It actually it shows, you have never experienced anything that she has, living on the street and all that, when you have walked on her shoes for at least a day, you will understand that being strong is the only thing that help you survive, and the vocabulary she use is exactly what the real New York is, not the fake rich class. Anyone who had no parents can easily sympathize with her actitudes and not taking crap from anyone not anyone. But then again, you will never experience none of that, most of them, starting at a computer screen is the least of their worries finding food is first priority.
Nice review. Subbed! I do think you are judging her character a little too harshly though. I mean, put yourself in her shoes, she always got the short end of the stick in life. It kinda makes sense she is a dbag to the people of Athia at first. But trust me, her character gets much better as the story goes on. Some cringey dialogues aside I genuinely enjoyed it. Solid 7.5/10 for me. Little tip: you can turn off cuff banter in settings. It really helps 😅
fiddle with the settings and it would be good, like the auto switching of support spells because you can fire off a charged offense spell after every support spell. Can also turn off the cuff banter. Aside from that, the story is mid, the gameplay is its saving grace, it is fast paced, it has that at least and the fast travel is faster than spiderman 2, but people would just reason out because the world is empty.
I don't get the world is empty thing. There's tons of collectibles and puzzles/fights everywhere. I can run for longer in The Witcher 3 without finding an enemy to fight than in this game. I'm not saying it's a masterpiece but I don't think "The World is Empty" is a valid complaint unless you consider collectibles to be something you ignore.
Loved this game. I'm confused as to why it was received well. The dailoug wasn't even that bad. Its very fun. And I loved the graphics and the atmosphere. It was just fun.

9:10 I am glad you are giving this game a fair shake and not just biting into the memes and hate like everyone else on youtube, but I honestly don't find her that annoying. Cocky, sure, but not annoying.
Great video as always Newtro! Forespoken is weird ass game but the combat and the traversal are actually fun ( I played the demo ). Also I think this is your first Members only video!
Yes it is! Glad I can release the video earlier for members! But apart from the character still so confused why they did that to her… cos the combat and graphics look great!
I started playing Forsaken recently and without being biased by the reviews, just enjoying it for me and been having a good time with the game, Liking a game is completely a personal choice some people will like it some will hate it, but I absolutely liked the game.
Really glad you like the game I think I’m going to carry on with the game to see if the gameplay and combat over takes my disappointment in the early hours… cos the world and gameplay is smooth… Have a great day bud!
Playing it now. The critiscm was not really fair, its actually a really fun time. I have no issue at all with freya ir cuffs writting, they make a lot more sense than many characters Ive played this year. It does take a while before it opens out and shows its full potential and I suspect many gave up early. Shame.
I totally agree. I think people jump the gun on this one. I thought the game to be a fun time as well, and yea it has it fair share of missed cues here and there, but what game doesn’t.
Frey is a complete selfish and insufferable bitch throughout the entire game. The game is vast and empty of any content. Gameplay is just button mashing. Story is an Isekai cliche. There’s nothing good about Forspoken.
Great video. I need to continue playing this game. I went to settings, and checked a switch to suppress the dialogue a bit. Her attitude takes some getting used to, but the gameplay is fun. I uploaded a video of this game, and someone thought it was Shrek’s castle.
I liked Frey, I mean she not going to be likable but that's her., Its draws different emotions as your playing as her . But I did like her overall and her she is pretty cool. Also I liked cuff never found him annoying. Gameplay is pretty good and is better than I expected. The whole game was better than I expected from reviews, everything was better. Great RPG I love to level up and customize and nothing goes to waste.Magic Parkour is fun never used fast travel. The world is huge and the environments look good graphically. I enjoyed the story, its not the best and has flaws buts its not that bad. The whole woman thing is fine. NPCs are so rehashed its funny its bad. could of had better puzzles, but for what it is its good game.

Its actually looks funny and fun, seems like you wanted to come clean to this review, but you didnt. The graphics, animation and fighting looks very good. The dialogs changes along time sonit shows she get more mature over her street experience in NY
Forspoken is one of the games on my Christmas list this year now that it’s under $20. I think people just like to roll with what’s popular on the internet and most of the people who bash Forspoken have not even played it.
I played the demo when it came out for like 15 minutes and just ended up turning it off, haven’t played it since, didn’t really decide that it was a bad game just didn’t feel like playing anymore
Further like 2 hrs back into the story it picks up. I'd hope you play more. I'd watch it because i loved the game it dint have new game plus or I'd play it again.
ive played it and i platinum the game the problem with this game is that it takes forever to fully get you immersed and the beggining is so wierd and slow they have this alice in wonderland/ forbidden kingdom thing going on it takes about 6 hours to fully get the feel and combat of the game once you understand it and get through the learning curve and what your supposed to do the game is fun and the combat is great it isnt terrible to say the least if final fantasy ,second son and assassins creed had a baby this will be it
If Freya & cuff wasnt so insufferable as characters then maybe more people would try it & enjoy the other aspects of the game.. i think the writers shot themselves in the foot when writing freya 😅 lol nevertheless as someone who loves Callisto Protocol alot, this game definitely has its audience.. & i respect that.
I played it day one looking forward it and for me it did not disappoint I also like her personality since I like to piss of my friends joke way so I can understand her personality and would love to see a full playthrough although did not like dlc but main game amazing
Genuinely my favourite game of 2023. It takes a while to suck you in but the combat can be incredible once you have all four magic types. I even started to empathize with Frey by the end and understand why she acts the way she does.
This was a game I was excited for as well. Then reviews came out and I am glad I didn't grab it right away. I did pick it up for $20 a month or so ago, so I will give it a go once the backlog winds down a bit. If that ever happens.
For sure I’m gonna try and get past the first bit which I did and hopefully it’s a lot more gameplay focused because the combat and graphics are solid!
Haha I totally understand how the characters & dynamic between Cuff and Frey can be annoying. Probably my main gripe w/ the game. The combat gets more and more fun though!

I bought it the other day for £10 and to be honest i am thinking it isn't as bad as what the sheeple on Social Media were saying. I have beaten the 1st Tanta and i have just started exploring the part of the map where we all got to play when they gave us a demo. I don't know if my opinion is gonna completely change but so far i am enjoying it! The performance is smooth on my Ps5 and the gameplay is getting better. I think, if this game carries on the way it is then i think this game was unfairly shat on by the sheeple of Social Media. I can't really grumble when it cost £10! I don't think the dialogue is that bad neither! It can be cheesy here and there but the most of the time it just sounds like any other games dialogue! I will update u on my opinion once i have beaten it.
I am only 5 hours into this game and I love it so much. I actually liked how shitty and whiny the character was. Hahahaha. It feels like a real GenZ girl from New York. It felt authentic. And the fighting and gameplay mechanics are awesome.
I am 38 and loved it. It's rare a game will just let you play thru a story at your own pace. I couldn't get enough if the desert and loved the city. Then I started going thru the story more quickly - because I enjoyed it - and played it thru. Including the DLC, I really enjoyed it. High level gameplay speaks for itself.
"It's rare a game will just let you play thru a story at your own pace", but aren't most (if not all) open world games let you play through the story at your own pace? I don't remember any of the open world games I have play over the year, rush you to do the story. And many other game genres nowadays also don't rush you, unless it's a very linear game. So I don't get what the "rare" thing you are mentioned is.
@heronumber009 No, I would disagree. Take Ubisoft for example. Assassin's Creed changed into a level gated slog. Forspoken didn't need you to do anything else to progress the story, BUT it did have other curiosities to explore. I found myself not feeling pressured to do this or that and could level up abilities all on my own. If I felt like chasing a Tanta, I wouldn't have been seriously under leveled. I simply enjoyed the rapid combat upgrades super creative and fun so I kept leveling as I felt compelled to. The narrative was there but it also felt open. No I don't feel many games these days give their players the "freedom" to actually play the way they want. There are a shitload of upgrades in Forspoken, hidden spells, etc that you don't even need to beat the game.
@@midnight4669 I have to disagree though. Isn't one of the main complaints this game has, is that in other to unlock more spells you need to get to certain part of the story? And people say that it take quite long to unlock all the spells which is where the fun is for them, WHICH make the beginning very slow and boring. For Assassin's Creed, sure there is something about the level that you need to grind to unlock more power/abilities whatever. BUT it's also that "you don't even need to beat the game". In fact, I have AC Origin, Oddesy and Valhalla, and non of them I actually finished the whole story, I just do whatever around the open world, and often quit the game when I got bored. And when we look at something like TES: Skyrim, apart from the early first part, you then can go (almost) wherever you want. Same as something like Elden Ring, although it's a lot more hardcore and freedom come with your skill I guess. It's not like in this game you get access to everything the beginning. And that's almost the same with most (if not all) other action/open world games. And that's a good thing, because otherwise, these game would have no progression.
Always entertaining/great video. I really learned a little more by watching this. I think I would be cool with the Wonder Woman/Island of Themycira thing if it had a little more back story. It just seems a little half baked. I agree with u that not only is her character unlikable, the sidekick is measurably worst! I think they wanted to make funny dialog and just forgot the first rule of story telling: Knowing your audience. People who would think she's a good character, probably don't play a lot of video games.
Thanks for watching and putting yourself through it lol… Yeah it’s so confusing because the gameplay graphics and the magic I like… it’s just the damn character… no idea why they couldn’t make her likeable 🤷♂️🤦♂️

Greetings, The content is good. Also, really liked the disk case opening and the cringy game sound at the start of the video. Maybe it's just me but the video quality is really bad. Watching at 4k I am getting 720p feeling. Thanks
You should try days gone. Thats a really great game that was hated by the mainstream reviewers . Was my game of the year when it came out and it is still among my top 10 of all Times. A must try.
@@LoveGamingNewtro the gameplay picks up like crazy when you get the 2nd set of powers. I feel the creators should have switched I mean they should have gone with fire as your default power.
Coming from a guy who usually only plays 9-10 rated very safe video games such as god of war, spider man 2, elden ring etc this was my first "risky buy", saw it in a store, knew it's not that high rated and thought ill give it a go. I absolutely love the combat and the traversal, the story seems intriguing to me (i just wanna know wtf is going on tbh) and even tho frey is pretty much an asshole, i kinda like seeing this part of video game protagonists. I don't need to feel sorry or associate with the character im playing to have fun and even though this is not bill burr level of comedy its still not that bad. I had extremely low expectations and thought its going to be a "woke independent strong woman who needs no man" but nah its pretty chill, just a new york asshole haha. I swear people would enjoy it more if they played it before watching the reviews :D
"I swear people would enjoy it more if they played it before watching the reviews" Not really. To me, at the end of the day, it's about the gameplay and how fun it is. I can see that there might be some appeal when you get all the spells, but that's really late into the game, and in the end, the core of it is the world (open world) and the enemies, it's just so boring! So I don't see how enjoyable it is, except maybe for a little moment of initial excitement of getting all the spells. And remember in this popular genre of action/open world games, the competitions are fierce: there are the Souls series and Elden Ring, Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Spider-Man games, Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Final Fantasy games, etc. If you want female protagonist there are thing like Horizon games (Zero Dawn, Forbidden West) or NieR games (such as NieR: Automata). Many more stuff, depending on the consoles you have access to, The Legend of Zelda (Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom) or Ghost of Tsushima, etc. There are even free games like Genshin Impact. Heck, I would even play AC games like Valhalla rather than this, and those AC games can be pretty boring. SO why would people spend money on this game when there are so many other amazing options?
@@heronumber009 I got the disc version for 20$ and thought it is worth a try. you don't really need all the spells, just the basic ones that you get pretty much in the first couple of hours to have fun. I do agree, the games you have mentioned are clearly better but personally once I finish a game I like to move to a different one. Since I've already finished all the games that interested me, I gave this one a go and even though it's not a masterpiece by any means, I still think it's way better than the reviewers say. As a side note, i've already finished all the games you have mentioned except souls series and elden ring because i absolutely suck at those
Sweet baby Inc is the company responsible for everything wrong in modern gaming and they were involved with this game so no wonder it turned out how it did
Cheers dude for the comment… I did want to play it though. The point was to see if the dialogue and feedback most people said were right… thanks for taking the time!
This game was fire for me. I loved it 80 hrs into it. They snapped on the powers and traversal. Just give it until you can explore and see if you like it. Powers and music and story were good
The graphics where great but the story felt too overwhelming. But do you know what I think would be an amazing game idea, a freaking SHAZAM GAME. WOULDNT THAT BE AWESOME
The main character does not get better once you finish the game. She’s still ungrateful and unlikeable. There isn’t a lot going on in the open world either. Just my opinion, obviously. It’s there for others to enjoy and that’s the way it should be. Hey, can you review Gollum next? 😂
The combat, in ways reminds me of Infamous Second Son. The graphics look good, and the world looks great, but her attitude and the dialogue just really ruin it for me. I'd rather hear baby shark on an infinite loop. I think if it drops below 20$ i may try it...maybe. Great video brother! By chance have you had the chance to play Armored Core6? I think you'd like the combat.
Ill be totally honest i bought this game for £9.99 from amazon. And for that price its worth every penny. If i paid full price for it i would not be happy. Graphically it looks really good but apart from that its quiet generic. But as i say if you can get it cheap its worth playing.
I personally was completely put off by this game, having played the demos while back. Unfortunately I didn’t even like the combat or the character. After seeing your play through, it further confirms my lack of interest for it. At the moment I have limited time (probably like quite a few people), and so I play games I really like. With that said, I wouldn’t even want it for free. Your videos rock, and ironically, I enjoyed this, even though I can’t stomach the game :)
I personally think the combat in this game is top tier in terms of magic based gameplay. The spells, fast combos, and unique enemy designs were well done. But that’s as far as I go with the goods. The story, characters, open world mechanics, exploration, all are just bland, empty, boring fluff.
Dude, the protagonist closed the stuido because she was so annoying and the real problem with the game is how boring and uncreative the world traversal was bad also
The world traversal was the only good thing about this game what are you talking about ? N not creative name one other game that has similar traversal ?
Luminous knew forspoken was it's last game. Luminous was a subsidiary studio of square enix. Anybody who came from ff15 was even surprised luminous was dropping a new game. Reason why it merged back to square enix a month after forspokens release. A games first month of sales does not dictate whether a studio lives or dies. If it did you know how many studios (talking about arcane as well with redfall)would close down including indie studios? Even volition took almost a yr after it merged to with gearbox to close. Luminous worked on ff16 too.
Did not like the demo cuz they dropped you in the middle but starting from the beginning and getting all the upgrades once you get 3/4 of the way through the game and you get way more spells the game is a lot of fun yeah the dialogue is kind of cheesy but gameplay is King in this game does have good gameplay the traversal is very fun so is all the badass spells I also waited to get it on sale paid $19 at Best Buy over I love it so far I'm almost done with it I wish I had a new game plus

Thanks for the comment and yes I will be doing a full review on this game! 🙏
I played the demo and she instantly turned me away from the game. Gameplay was mid.
The combat was the Best ‘ I enjoyed if i’ll give it a 7/10 .
@@Fervent._ wat combat knock down n stab and pew pew
Frey is a complete selfish and insufferable bitch throughout the entire game.
How is that not insufferable?
Frey can be a big ayhole, but she's not as bad as people make her out to be. Cuff is sarcastic and the two kinda play off of each other I find.
I look forward to at some point to carrying it on!
So, because Frey had a troubled childhood, that makes it okay for her to be a complete selfish bitch towards everyone?
Best reviews evs. Hope your channel blows up and you can really make a living off this. Aloha.

Yes it is! Glad I can release the video earlier for members! But apart from the character still so confused why they did that to her… cos the combat and graphics look great!
I started playing Forsaken recently and without being biased by the reviews, just enjoying it for me and been having a good time with the game,

Playing it now. The critiscm was not really fair, its actually a really fun time. I have no issue at all with freya ir cuffs writting, they make a lot more sense than many characters Ive played this year. It does take a while before it opens out and shows its full potential and I suspect many gave up early. Shame.

Further like 2 hrs back into the story it picks up. I'd hope you play more. I'd watch it because i loved the game it dint have new game plus or I'd play it again.
ive played it and i platinum the game the problem with this game is that it takes forever to fully get you immersed and the beggining is so wierd and slow they have this alice in wonderland/ forbidden kingdom thing going on it takes about 6 hours to fully get the feel and combat of the game once you understand it and get through the learning curve and what your supposed to do the game is fun and the combat is great it isnt terrible to say the least if final fantasy ,second son and assassins creed had a baby this will be it
Wow.... i didnt even die on that dragon part and i had the same settings
I'm just crap LOL
I loved the game. I liked Frey and Cuff. The combat was fun and kinda challenging. The story was fun. The dialogue didn’t bother me.
Frey isn’t pissing people off as a joke though, she’s purposely a complete bitch the entire game.
Genuinely my favourite game of 2023. It takes a while to suck you in but the combat can be incredible once you have all four magic types. I even started to empathize with Frey by the end and understand why she acts the way she does.
that is actually .....A GREAT question
Where does the time GO?

Wow everyone just hates this game I really don’t think I will ever be playing this one
Fancy wit the desk rise i see

Coming from a guy who usually only plays 9-10 rated very safe video games such as god of war, spider man 2, elden ring etc this was my first "risky buy", saw it in a store, knew it's not that high rated and thought ill give it a go.
