- While millions of people try to move to America every year, this individual surrendered his American citizenship and moved from the United States to an island, where only 55 thousand people live.
The media calls him Bitcoin Jesus, but his name is Roger Ver, and I specifically flew to Saint Kitts and Nevis to speak with him about second citizenships, cryptocurrency and Plan B.
- Roger, millions of people are trying to get a green card, paying a lot of money and waiting several years to get it. But you are the person who renounced American citizenship. What is the reason?
- Yes, millions of people used to think that the earth was flat. And they were wrong. Also today, millions of people think that American passports are the best or that America is the best place to live. But that doesn't have to be true either.
Each person should think about their own life and their situation fully.. And maybe for some people it makes sense to move to America. But for the majority, it’s not necessary. Every year a huge number of Americans renounce their citizenship…

and the messed up thing is that the US Government has a federal law that states that anyone who has ever renounced their US Citizenship can never possess ammunition or firearms within the United States or their territories, ever again. It's the same as if they were considered a "convicted felon".
Hi roger - yes - 100% - awesome
What a great video and interview. I would love a St. Kitts passport
Thanks for your sharing!
Salute to Americans Renouncing citizenship from a warmongering nation.
cool channel 👍👍
wait one hundred thousand per year? how did he come to that conclusion?
The current British prime minister did it. He was born in the USA and by that accident he became a US citizen and liable to tax on his worldwide income. Many people must get married to spouses of a different nationality and decide to live elsewhere. I agree, who knows the total ? but there are ample reasons for the rich to do it.
@4.44 sec Roger mentions we could pay for Citizenship via cryptocurrency through agents.. Is that legit and may I know if someone could help me regarding find one...Thanks in advance :)
Your new passport states you were born in the US, doesn’t it? How can you renounce your citizenship? It’s symbolic. You can always get a new US passport if you want
He's free to complain about the United States, However, Roger Ver admitted he doesn't believe in voting and never voted while a citizen of the USA. I wonder if he is also declines to participate in the future of Nevis?
Roger Ver is an item every Country would love to export (for good) ... 😉
well now you know the real reason the embassy guy asked you if you wanted to pay in bitcoin
Such a shame the Bitcoin community lost Roger Verr.
How did they lose Roger Verr? Because he left the U.S?
But I think he still do something about Bitcoin right?
@@AnCapDog144 He is just involved with Bitcoin cash now
you're just butthurt that you think he "took away" some of the price of BTC.
He's still pushing his rediculous coin "Bcash" lol
I expect that he, at least, knows how to spell ridiculous.
@@richardamullens dumb boy english is not my first language, its just a language i was forced to learn.
@@beeb7477 I'm not dumb but you are - because when I write in a foreign language I ensure that I get the spelling right. Grammar is another matter. Also, it is incorrect to use a lower case letter at the start of a sentence. You're just careless and lazy. When people see your written English they will conclude that you are a person who doesn't take care and that will be to your disadvantage.
"its" in your sentence is wrong also - it should be "it's" where the apostrophe shows that you mean "it is" not "belonging to it"
Imagine paying them with bitcoin....that would be the most idiot move on earth ! why would you like to pay ANY service with bitcoin?
Yes, but Steve Jobs did not change the world for the better.
Bitcoin cash worldwide
Bitcoin BCH 🤑🚀
He shouldn't have renounced that citizenship. He can have dual citizenship. He can have used the US citizenship for some advantage while living abroad.
He did it to avoid tax. US is the only country besides a small African dictatorship that taxes based on citizenship rather than residence
The US has lost its way. I don’t blame him one bit. The only things holding me back is cost and red tape.
@@cody4916 Oh that's smart especially now the Biden administration wants to raise taxes on capital gains which also involves crypto
@@edgar-mmxxiii the US tax for citizens overseas has nothing to do Biden.
But nice try with making it D v R.
It's a problem with the US in total.
I'll be renouncing my citizenship once I get a passport in the EU.
@@cody4916 He didn't do it to avoid tax. He did it because of how complex and burdensome filing his return was. I bet if he only had to pay a flat tax and it was a simple one page form he'd still be an American.
