Since I got the Ion drum kit, I decided to see how close I could get to a Run to the Hills FC. It had been over 6 months since I had played Rock Band 1, so I assumed it would take several days or even weeks to memorize the tempo fluctuations.
This song is widely regarded as the most difficult RB1 song to FC due to it's erratic timing window. For a long time, the majority of people thought an FC was highly unlikely or even impossible to get.
You only have to play it once to understand why...this song is hard, lol. It's a horrible minefield of hidden tempo changes, something I've always hated...and the reason I never imagined getting an FC.
But, 45 minutes later...YOINK!

I miss these days.. Where gh/rb were so popular..
;(
This comment was 7 years ago Christ.
I still play rock band 3
Clone Hero
@@beckybecky125 clone hero is somewhat popular but it no where near the peak of gh/rb. Rb4 tries to hold on though.
Randomly got the urge to look up rockband videos and I remembered this guy from sooooo many years ago! Brings me back to when I was 13 😂 very great job man! Such nostalgia
Am I the only one who has horrible memories with this song on drums doing the endless set list and spending and hour trying to pass it
@@salboscarello9546nope I suffered so much that I had to quit the endless setlist completely
I can't tell you how many times I 100% a song but miss the last notes because I've gotten carried away in the big finish
Mostly because I drop my sticks
+DJ Flakes Very true!
+DJ Flakes Hahahah I've done that too, I quickly used my hands, which in fact broke the yellow plastic pad underneath the rubber. R.I.P. drumset.
it happens to pretty much any good player, it's widely known as choking
i remember back when this game first came out and the drums concept was new, everyone was like "what the fuck was that" when first playing this song.
haha that is so true. Or like some crazy part in the song that you fail and you go "WTF WAS THAT SHIT!"
I'm at that point now. Lol. I started the drums a month ago after having it sit in my house for about 7+ years. Hardest song I've beaten is (Don't Fear) The Reaper. Also, I have the pads sitting on a chair, because I lost everything but the pads, sticks, and kick pedal.
Run To The Hills was like TTFAF of the drums in RB1. Looking back now it's probably one of more easier hard drum songs now
Best vocal cover
10/10
Much emotion
Still remember watching this when I was thirteen, you were my hero hahahaha. I don't think I ever even came close to gold starring this. Thanks for the memories Lee. (And thanks youtube algorithm)
Thanks, I can't believe how long it's been!
6 years late but pretty god damn good.
Me too lol.
Max Aden 6 years now and I still don't get how people can FC this song, lol. Not even ONE mistake, jesus.
8 years late but STILL pretty damn good
9 years late but S T I L L pretty damn good
10 years late but S T I L L pretty fun good
Ah dude I just revisited rock band It still holds up as my all-time favorite rhythm game, I remember drumming out to these kinds of songs as a kid, those were the days.
Can't wait for rock band 4
Does it bother anyone else that the red was the hi-hat and the yellow was the snare?
very much so
Ben Wilson it's a lot harder to do this rhythm with yellow on hi hat and red on snare than you may think.
No because you have to play the hi hat part with two hands. It'd be awkward to keep it mapped the other way
Well, play on Pro Drums if it bothers you.
I know this may sound crazy but it’s just as easy... start with your left hand... I do it all the time
This video actually helped me to figure out the rhythm i needed for the red pad. On parts like that, I mostly hear my sticks beating the pad rather than the actual music, so hearing the beat of your sticks gave me something to work off of. I’m still nowhere near able to hit all the notes cause I don’t have the right technique yet, but I’ll get there some day.
Coming back to just watch some old rockband 1 videos i miss these a lot, i even remember watching your original channel before the copyright system took it down.
Those were the days, haha. There really wasn't a "copyright system" back then. They just deleted my channel suddenly. No 3 strikes, no warnings at all. And no recourse whatsoever to try and get it back. lol, but I digress.
I was playing this with some friends earlier. I made it to about 2:40 and failed, my friend made it with a few timely star power deploys from other band members. Both of us were shaking for a good 5 minutes after we finished the song. This is crazy intense.
Judging by his technique, he plays drums for real, and I assume he's pretty decent.
So shut up.
This guy has been a drum teacher for well over the amount of time your friend has been alive.
I loved the flex at the end, lol. Nice job dude.
*Power goes out near end of song*
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU................
Oh hell no...
I can tell ur not cool by the comment
3:56 nice flexing
I hate playing this song on hard and you make it look easy. This song gives me grief lol. Hats off to you mate.
Mate, that was wicked !!
Great song. great work !!
At what point does your hands get tired
try doing the same thing he does with his leg
follow along and it'll give you a good idea
2:30
Colby Smith He's using a technique where you only move your fingers. You can go very fast and not get tired if you do it right
You mean like a real drummer? xD
Jake Hatty yeah this shit is really not that intense
1:15 is when shit gets epic
I miss this... I remember watching IBPH live streams and always looking forward to these uploads. Great times
Those were the days. I kinda miss RB.
@@IBitePrettyHardSH you and me both my friend 🙏🏼
The fact that I’m using this video to learn how to play this song on the drums. And the fact that it’s working so far. Is wild
I like your fish
146 people are jealous that they can't do this! Stimulating performance!
sunnygurl09 Fucking preach
that was frikkkin awesome dude congrats!!
This man is going places
You're Awesome =D congratulations =D
Good job.. Not as easy on a real kit.. Great song, I did notice that you missed on quite a few fills though.. Did good though..
He didn't *miss* those notes, he just purposely didn't hit them.
Those notes at the end of the fills aren't really notes in the song, they are just there to activate overdrive...
So you purposely don't hit them sometimes in order to activate your overdrive at a time where there's more notes, which gets you a higher score. (aka following an optimal path)
Epic celebration for a not-so-epic game, but awsome job man!
that celebration tho.
nicely done dude!
I just dug my guitar hero and rock band out of storage so my 10 year old can experience it.
dude i got to say that was fucking amazing, theres no way i could play like that even if i had trained for years, respect to ya man and keep em comin....
SERIOUS SKILLS! I just got a drum kit for ROCK BAND and I am NOWHERE close to how good you are. GOOD JOB! =D
I'm pretty good at the drums on rockband too. But every time I hear somebody play this song I always forget how I suck at this song and its not until I'm attempting it until I remember. Damn you for making it look so freaking easy!!!!!
Great vid though! :D
Kids today don't understand what a huge moment this was back when it happened.
Omg. Look at that freakin note streak. GJ dude.
It's really nice when you mature as a drummer and you find that songs you thought were hard to play before are not now.
i love that no matter how much you hamer it at the end, you always end up with less than 6000 pts...
That was so cool! i love that game and song.
Good Job!
I remember watching this about 12 years ago, and the bug had bitten me. I loved this game
your sticking is so smooth man
Awesome job man, I don't now if i would just pass the song.
In the end of the video...
"AAuuuu"
huehuehuehue
Congrats man, great video.
WAAAHAAHHAA!! Epic Celebration dude! fcking awesome job!
Nice flex in the end xD
You are one hell of a drummer though :D
nicely done mate, good job
Your fills on here are WAY better than 95% of other peoples' fills on youtube, so don't worry about it lol
Wow, thats really impressive. Well made video as well.
Freakin awesome dude!
you make it look soooo easy! LOVE IT!
@The6max9 yes, he is a drummer, and a really amazing one...
That was beautiful
Nice job man. Very nice.
Wow. Impressive job. I'd like too see some hints on how to use the drum sticks, how to grip them and make them bounce so easily, because I can't let them bounce like this. It's awesome. :D
That's pretty freakin' awesome dude.
Es usted mi IDOLO!!! ^^. Con un final de pelicula :D.
Es cierto. Los video juegos es un pasatiempo para toda la vida. No hay edad para ser un Gamer.
YEAH!!!!!!!!! sweet job dude!!!!! never to old to have fun and especially jam to a little IM!!!!! Nicko McBrain kicks ass!!!!
The one thing wanna shout out to is the credit I give to whoever voiced this cover. It ain't easy singing an Iron Maiden song, and whoever covered it did a damn good job. Never ever ever be Dickenson, but it's very respectable.
AHH the good ol Lee =) WE NEED YOU BACK!!!!
my fav song in all of rock band.
12 yrs and still impressive!
Can't believe it's been that long, haha.
@@IBitePrettyHardSH I know right!
Get well soon ibite
my hero
This song used to be impossible for me to beat (Using RB2 stock kit), then I borrowed my friends barely used kit and 98%'d it first try lol. Good job on fc, I'm no where near that.
And thus started the Run to the Hills FC craze of major RB2ers.
Man that had to feel good to do. Good job.
Nice Fc and Better iBITE SMASH!!!
Thank god you didn't epic fail on this one!
Sometimes you gotta just check the flashing rate at the beginning. The flash speed indicates the overdrive drain rate, uncovering that the drain rate for the original version is stupidly fast.
I'm just going to point out that rockband is an amazing game. It actually taught me how to play drums, believe it or not.
I remember thinking this was the hardest song on Rock Band. now I think it's a piece of cake playing it on the drumset... ahh sweet memories
Great FC!
Bloody Nice Job!!...Rock On !!
OMG... this was amazing
Your dog is like "Could you please by quiet over there? I am trying to grap my tail here!"
@acekombat2005 no silly :P that's an overdrive section at 3:00 where the player can choose whether or no to activate overdrive by hitting the green cymbal at the end or not to activate overdrive by just leaving it. he didn't hit it because he didn't want to activate overdrive
Relaxed little sod :P too good for this video game
IBITE SMASH! Love it. :]
@Scottland50 its because your a new drummer, you'll learn all of this stuff through a year at the most
@Armpitz an FC is Full Combo, which means he makes no mistakes or does not overhit at all.
Ugh the nostalgia
@Kenobification
That was to get the x8 bonus. He waited till the next time it came then he hit it so he would of had more star power at the time.
it's a FC, that was a overdrive activation note, that you can skip if you don't want to activate overdrive, so as you can see it didn't break his multiplier and it says 100% at the end
@sabertoothbeaver Essentially everywhere, especially during the Solo and build up to the final chorus. They're all only by about 7-10 BPM, but when you're going that fast it really throws you off.
Can't wait to get my IONs for Christmas! So far I have a GS of this song but can't get the FC on my Rock Band 2 kit. Hopefully I'll get it before school starts again:) I'll post it as a response.
@Scottland50 All comes with confidence dude. Once you get it down you will get more and more relaxed. I know cause I'm playing tenors this year for the bluecoats.
You are really good keep going!
@Scottland50 what most rockband dummers do is to focus on the game. if you go and buy a pratice pad, relax, and just make random beats and soon you can be able to play fast while being relaxed
thats insane! Love It !
Well played.
Dude!! Thats awsome!
w00t?! ELITEX?!! Never mind that this song could FC'd ... nice m8 dude.. *-*
FANTASTIC!
just think if you missed the last note!
@winger1785 He FCed this about two years before RB3 even came out lol. I'm very confident that if he wanted to, he could have FCed RttH (OV) on pro drums the day after RB3 came out.
just amazing that you didnt even miss just one note
i miss the old days when everybody loved this game and nobody was bored of it those were the good old days when everybody wasn't playing shooters all the time
@Scottland50
I'm almost in the same position as you, really all it takes is lots of practice while actively trying to be more relaxed while you play, and you'll find that you'll make progress in due time.
I got to hand it to you bro you made that shit look hella easy that must have taken you forever to perfect like that
