This score is currently 4th on scorehero.
Although I messed up on some of the triplets (which I ALWAYS get), this was my best run by over 60k. Oh, and the drum solo isn't that hard =P
Q & A:
1. Q: What's up with your kit? Is it modded?
A: Well, no... It is very simple to hook up this setup. All it takes is a Guitar Hero: World Tour drum kit, an electronic drum kit, a MIDI cable, and some changes to the MIDI settings on the electronic drum kit.
2. Q: What drum kit is this?
A: This is a Roland TD-9KX series V-Drum kit
3: Q: How much did it cost?
A: I got the kit for $2500, then I had to buy the stand for the kit (Roland MDS-9 Stand), which was around $300-$400, then I had to buy a bass pedal for the kit (I got a Gibraltar Intruder Series Double-Chain Drive Double Bass Pedal) which was around $250, and finally, I had to buy a throne for it (Gibraltar Hydraulic Throne), which was (a guesstimate) about $150. All-in-all about $3000-$3200
4. Q: Holy crap, you bought a $3000 kit just for Rock Band?! Wow, what a waste...
A: Actually I bought the kit back when i had Rock Band 1 about a year ago. But I never thought to mod the kit so I could use it for Rock Band alone... Now that WOULD be a waste. Even though Rock Band got the ball rolling for me to start playing drums, I would've NEVER bought a $3000 kit just for Rock Band.
5. Q: How long have you been playing drums?
A: About a year now... Wow, when I look back at when I played a year ago, and brought it to today... I realize how much I have improved! I used to not even be able to keep a beat. Now some of the hardest beats for my friends are some of the easiest beats for me lol!
6. Q: What do you use to capture your screen?
A: I use a Dazzle DVC100 Video Capture Device with Pinnacle Studio 12.
7. Q: What do you use to edit your videos?
A: Sony Vegas Pro 8.0

play this on real drums. almost nothing is different except he uses more cymbals. i wont be able to cover this for a while. bass drum parts to hard.

Great video! Just a question, I've got the Roland TD-4KXs and figure I might as well give GH:Metallica a shot with them. I have the GH drum module, which has a MIDI port, I guess all I have to do is find a MIDI to MIDI cable to plug my Roland brain into the GH module, and that's that, right?

@FeehDeedo they are accented notes. If you have a pressure sensitive drum kit then you can hit those notes harder for more points.
@DavExtra I've been wondering the same thing! I'm about to get a Roland TD-9K2 kit, and it's coming with the KD-9 kick pad, which has some kind of cloth covering to it, and I'm wondering if it will be even worse off than the KD-8 that Minime220220 has...

are these normal electronic drums and not only for GH? If these are just normal electronic drums how do I connect this to GH? Do I need a specific model? IF these are only for GH what's the model and how much did they cost?
Dude thats so cool, you can go from playing guitar hero to just drumming whenever you want without the hassle of really moving from your seat.

@roelvanmoll Nope, he used a midi cable to connect from the Rolands to the GH kit which goes to the TV. It's all midi related.

how did you hook up your electronic set on guitar hero? Is there some sort of console requirements that it has to be on a certain console like xbox or ps3? is there some sort of special cord you plug into your console?
I don't play from my heel. It's a technique that uses both legs and heels to go really fast. But thanks for the compliment! :)
when hes listening to just the music and not hearing those tapping noises, its alot smoother/calmer to play

@russel20000 hit yellow and orange simultaneously to activate. Also, maybe the drums are colored differently to differentiate between the drums and guitar. Just a thought.

You should consider upgrading to Pinnacle Studio 14 HD. It's much better for chroma keying and picture-in-picture/vid-in-vid like what you're doing here. Just a suggestion.
do you also dio real drum covers or have you got sucha good kid for gh?
@boringdude23 They should connect to the bass drum isn't there a little thing down at the bottom of the pedal that tightens up against the bass drum pad?

People who say Guitar Hero drums don't help you at all with real drums, take it from my experience, they definitely do!!! Before I started playing drums on GH, I could barely play a simple 4/4 beat on a real drum kit, now after playing it for a while, I can play Bat Country on a real kit! Trust me, it really does help!

Its funny that ive been playing drums for like 4 years (since i was 10) and in this vid ur like 5 times better than me. Even with the mess ups still very well done. :)
@tylcos2009 yes you can, the setup is just the same with the four pads, and then Expert+ is much easier with two pedals, which is unlucky for me because i dont have double bass :(.

Out of curiosity, why don't you just hook your hi hat up to yellow? To my knowledge, GH never uses it as a tom anyway.
Also lold when you were trying to scratch your face.
it's a lot closer to the other pads i use for this game. Using the hi-hat makes it a little difficult to maintain a good score/combo
How did you use your elec. drums as replacement to the original rockband drums???

Keeping your thumbs on the stick is a vital part of correct gripping

@binkinater um, maybe because I actually play real drums on this kit as well. I use this setup because its much more convenient.
