I remember back in the early 80's apart from Chaka, I remember Barbara Fowler, Toni Smith (Jamaican funk), Sharon Redd, SOS Band and Rene Diggs (Starpoint) were HUGE dancefloor acts... I know there were so many other female vocalists at the time, but those ones for me always guaranteed the dancefloor was never empty . Cant get enough of Barbara's vocals on this track. I suppose that music like this has gone forever now :-( ?
Unfortunately I met Ms. Barbara today at my cousin memorial service. I was told she could sing, so I told her I would check her music out! I'm loving the beat as well as her voice!

We kept it simple. Neve 8068, neumann U87 mic, NS10's, & JBL monitors and all sorts of outboard gear. All of the sounds came out of a DX-7 but I can't remember what drum machine we used. Eric played everything. We didn't use one sequencer on this. My studio today is much more compact and more efficient but I still miss the old stuff.

OMG one that got away from me got here from a private radio clip of * dj wicked winston* from the 80s the station closed in early 2000,and what a fwekin choon it was .. you can see why they dont make like they used to back in the day 80s funk soul etc was so my thang i so just wanna cry dyaam
once again... CATACOMBS & CLUBHOUSE there r no words.... to explain what this song used to do to those 2 dance floors... ok that's definitely more than 2 words... must b my dyslexia kicking in...lol...
I've been collecting old school for a long time but never new about this song she is so rare there was a compilation series called Star Funk on iTunes I had just found her song on the other day and I love it, the five people who thumbed this down are nuts.
There isnt much 'solo' work of hers out there, but a lot of her with the group Sinnamon. She hung out a lot with Teddy Pendergrass and Luther and did some sessions with those guys too. But she was very underrated I feel. Miss these old tunes. Much love from the UK :-)
