I used to be a home health nurse here and had a lot of patients on the west side. The worst places are the apartments and motels. I went into a lot of creepy apartments and motels. The bed bugs scared me more than the people.

Franklinton was "The Bottoms" I grew up there in the 50s and 60s. It looked about the same back then, anything below Brehl avenue to the river , has been underwater to at least the second floor twice since 1913. I remember 1959 they took my grandmother out of her apartment on the second floor , she walked out on the porch roof and climbed into a boat.

I liked listening to your thoughts on Columbus, I was born and raised here. I HAD to learn every road and freeway because my dad owned a towing business for about 35 years his business was on north 4th st and east 18th ave (Osu campus area). But I gotta say hilltop is the worst area in Columbus you almost was there at 5:00 if you would of went under that bridge, and Sullivant ave is entertaining if you want some content lol. But I would definitely visit in the summer you will see waaaay more.

I feel like linden has become the most dangerous spot in town. Having in both franklinton, and linden, I can say a lot more gang activity goes on in hilltop, although linden has more random, violent activity. Hilltop is just about 2 miles west of Franklinton, but the area in the middle seems to be the worst spot in that part of town.

I was born in Columbus and have lived all my 36 years here…on every side of town at some point 😂. A good portion was right here in Franklinton…also known as The Bottoms. It used to look a lot worse! But bc it’s so close to downtown the city wants it to “look” more appealing. So people that aren’t living at poverty level have been buying up houses left and right and remodeling them (which is great) but most of the drugs or “traps” have been pushed further up broad, also known as The Hilltop. Drugs are soo bad here…but then again drugs are bad on EVERY side of town here! Drive through here when it’s warm outside, deff will be a lot more people out. Regardless idk if I would want to live anywhere else…the quiet alone would be a lil scary 😂

I lived in Columbus for 25 years. Columbus has ALWAYS been good to me. I moved there October 1995, and earned a GREAT career exactly 1 month (Nov 1995) after moving there from Detroit. I raised my 3 children there without any family support (because we had no family there), and 2 of my children still live there. Columbus grows and flourishes continuously. I always tell people, if you cannot make it in Columbus Ohio you cannot make it anywhere. Out of the 25 years I was there, I built my own business for 17 years. I now reside in North Carolina. If you decide to move there I pray you find Columbus as fruitful as I did. Cool resourceful City.😎

2 years late, but I moved from north Georgia to columbus ohio, and your naming everything that made ne question and change my political stance.. this city has shown me what happens when you have diversity and invest in impoverished communities. Between Rogue fitness's massive plants, and the north linden community center, these "bad neighborhoods" have started to slowly get better and better with more resources. Though, I've never once, even when I 1st got up here, made a wrong turn and felt like I was in trouble, like I had in Atlanta or even marietta.. the north is just an all around better place to be. I dont miss the south at all.

Columbus is a good city, but like all cities in the USA, it has problems. The problems could be fixed, but it can't happen with a high unemployment rate, less tax money coming in to make the very expensive infrastructure replacement and maintenance. The crushing real estate prices. NO REAL PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION is a problem. It saddens me to hear over and over again about teens found shot in Columbus. FUN FACT: The building on the right, (at 25:47) the one just before the green building is where possibly once stood the B&T Metals building. They built parts for the WWII Atomic bombs there, and this was of course a secret. Even the workers didn't know what they were making these parts specifically for. When that building was razed, it was found to be contaminated and had to be cleaned up.

There is hardly apartments and affordable housing..so I'm not concerned with riff raff destroying my country heaven, besides.. they *don't play out here😂.
