This is TRUE unadulterated GOSPEL singing! No talent show try out, Not singing based on talent, riffs, runs, vocal acrobatics. They stood flat footed & sang for GOD, NOT for TV ratings, but for God not man . You can feel the anointing of the HOLY GHOST on this song. It brings tears of joy to my soul. Glory! I got to go shout!
This soul searching and stirring gospel aka Traditional gospel, very different from contemporary gospel! I’m LOVE TRADITIONAL GOSPEL IT FEEDS AND TOUCHES MY SOUL! PRAISE BE TO GOD!🙌🏾🙌🏾
Back when Mrs. Delois Barrett Campbell could still sing before she lost her angelic voice to cancerous throat polyps. May you rest in peace sister. You earned your wings. Now fly high in paradise dear one.
I went to a Christian college in 1981 and therein I learned about gospel music. I’ve been captivated ever since. Sang the solo for God Is in church before I could even read music.
I remember growing up listening to this before and after church. My other and grandma kept the radio o this station. I can feel the spirit as i listen to this This is real gospel music that make your soul cry out to JESUS/ GOD
Yes, I remember before going to church we got up and gospel music was playing while mom cooked breakfast and she was a Sunday school teacher so she made sure I knew the lesson before we got to church I miss those days
Never be a another like The Royal Lady of Gospel Delois Barrett Campbell, The Barrett Sisters are so underrated they couldve out sung any of the young artists today, Legends.
now this was gospel singing. all the legends on stage, sharing one Mike. everyone came together to sing such a beautiful song. this song is truly a classic. rev James Cleveland was one of a kind.
My Mom was a gospel singer.. and she looked and sound soooo much like the Song Bird of Chi Town....I watch this video once a week just to enjoy and feel her spirit...Stay blessed everyone
All of james Clevelands music reminds me of my grandparents. They've passed away years ago but these harmonies resonate deep into my soul that makes them feel much alive and in the spirit with me everytime I hear these soulful melodies. It's a certain nostalgia you feel from these songs that are truly undescribable, you can only feel the soul in it. This is not done by listening to the words on a literal basis, but by feeling the voices , tunes , melodies , soul, etc . At a deep visceral level
This is a timeless song for me, when you cannot see away remember ONLY A LOOK< will get u thur it, that is ture, I tried it , James Cleveland Is my Micheal Jacson!!!!
Praise the lord! I remember as a child listening to James Cleveland and these songs that the Barrett sisters say. They are a great inspiration down to the ages they never grow old! Rest in peace my sisters and brothers and I'll see you when I get there!
For those who are quite young, might I recommend the documentary "Say Amen, Somebody" that features Gospel Legends that too many people are unaware of like the Barrett Sisters.
Oh My God,this video is priceless !THEY ARE SINGING STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART !!!DOWN HOME GOSPEL that is timeless and needs to be brought back!Take notes,Younger Generation ,my Sisters snd Brothers in Christ.
Linda Lyte THIS IS GOSPEL AT ITS VERY BEST.....DOWN HOME GOSPEL SINGING FROM THE INNER SOUL......WHAT A GREAT PERFORMANCE THIS IS....I ENJOY WATCHING THIS VIDEO OVER AND OVER AGAIN......GREAT SINGERS UP FRONT........
Hattie Williams Ha , ha, go ahead Sis. Inez Andrews , and the rest . We need this in 2019. Brothers and Sisters never ever forget the pioneers of Gospel . There will be no Kirk Franklin, if it was not for these people. Including the Hawkins Singers . Go Rev. Cleveland . Shout off of this. Start a praise break
I grew up in the 60s and 70s and these were the songs of that era, my grandfather was Chrm of Deacon board, our church was considered a large church we had about 650 people in church on Sunday, and our choirs were huge, our Pastor was in the Mayor's cabinet, today that same church has about 50 members, a new Pastor, choir is not huge, those great organists have gone to be with the lord, matter fact most of that church had died, but they did anthems , hymns, traditional gospel , some contemporary, and it was a joy to be at that church on Sunday morning , good singing, excellent musicians, great pastor who could preach, I long for those days, don't ask me why I left the church, but haven't been back since I buried my mom
you do not see this often...where when people sing the words and gets so happy it shows on their faces while they sing it...and the barrett sisters, the caravans and i couldnt make out the men in the middle all on one stage with James Cleveland EPIC!!!!!!
Ms Inez new she had a figure on her.. I even remember her in the older black and white vids with those 3 inch heels on and graceful legs. Very pretty woman.
Those Barrett Sisters and those sweet sopranos, then I hear Albertina Walker strong alto just exploding like a volcano and those tenors had some major shine too! Amazing!
Yes Jesus, thank you for this wonderful Gospel song. Rev. James Cleveland Songs we sang at my church when I was a child, this is some years ago, thank you for this Video. Thank you God for These wonderful singers and the history that they have given us today.
I can remember this song when I was a little girl with my mother Clara Ward singing this song it was so beautiful and I could also remember the old-timers maybe so beautiful it is truly beautiful
One of my favorite sistah singin' groups--The Barrett Sisters of Chicago with one of the best pianists and singers: Rev. James Cleveland. Some of the best and real gospel music! Contemporary gospel is no comparison to this anointed Holy Ghost-inspired singing by some of gospel's best singers.
I love playing this at the end of the day. It helps me to sleep peacefully. One thing, the look on the woman’s face standing to the right of a Delores Barrette. I can never decide if that is a mesmerized look or a jealous look. She just stands there so emotionless the whole time that Delores is singing.
This is musical inspiration that cannot be denied. No human heart can deny the soul stirring, touching messages that are conveyed and sooo warmly delivered and shared by these musicians . I am thankful for the opportunity to enjoy good music sung like this ... FROM THE SOUL !.
I had the chance to see the Barrett sisters a few times in concert i Europe...not only wonderful voices, but wonderful people too, and when I could I went to meet them after the concert...Here, they perform one of my favorite songs...Thanks!
Delois Barrett-Campbell, Billie Barrett-Greenbay, Inez Andrews, Delores Washington, Albertina Walker....RIP....what's crazy is all three of the deceased Caravans are on here together with two of the deceased Barrett Sisters....what's even crazier is both Barrett Sisters, Inez Andrews, and Albertina Walker are buried in the same cemetery as Nancy Green aka Aunt Jemima
This is what it looks and sounds like when your singing comes from experiences with the Lord and life.
Glory! There has ALWAYS been vocal acrobatics with black people but we get your point

Dorothy Norwood and those brothers surely brought it home at the end. My Lord!
Rev. James Cleveland, Delois Barrett Campbell and Billie Barrett Greenbey, R.I.H. and thanks for the music.
Why is it that some songs no matter how old they are, still bring me to tears?
Back when Mrs. Delois Barrett Campbell could still sing before she lost her angelic voice to cancerous throat polyps. May you rest in peace sister. You earned your wings. Now fly high in paradise dear one.
Precious memories
THIS is what we need to get back to in our churches. Powerful!!!!
Ain't no dancing beat, the young people in the church will walk out. LOL
Jackie Parks well then let them walk I say! If they are their just to "cut a step" then let Jesus separate the tares from the wheat.
The adlibs and phrasing is so on point. They never sing over one another. This is amazing!! Shonuff tear jerker right here.
I hear you Queen Albertina! Amazing vocals by all!
I went to a Christian college in 1981 and therein I learned about gospel music. I’ve been captivated ever since. Sang the solo for God Is in church before I could even read music.
