Adam since you're doing the pond talk to your local Fire Dept. about adding a Dry Hydrant for them to use if needed. Could also help with your home insurance rates.
The rear tire on your brush hog is off the ground a lot, extend your top link to where you have some play in that bracing, it will help you mower float a little better.
That's is going to be a nice bond and a great idea and you have the water source all ready there and will help with wet spots in the field take care thanks for sharing
I am in Beaver County. Great project to clean up the wet spots in the field. I have friends that have a pond and loved it so much he told me to build one and and if didn't like it, he would pay for the cost of the build. That is how much he believed in them. Just the relaxation of it all. He and his daughter & son and grandkids had a pavilion there and would do cookouts all the time, fish, canoe, relax and enjoy.
Hey, now you can invite Mike & Melissa Morgan over to swim in your pond, seeing how, they didn't get to put in their pool like that were wanting to do here recently. :-)
Very nice video. I am considering the construction of a pond on our rural property in the north Georgia mountains. You've given me alot to think about prior to taking on such a project. Will be watching to see how your pond develops and pick up some additional tips. Thanks for posting!
Hey Adam, great video! Just a thought, consider conifers around the pond to help avoid algae and to add shade areas for the fish. I also have a man made ice pond from the 1930's and had to remove most of the deciduous trees because the leaves create unwanted silt. Also line your pond with clay based material for water retention. Can't wait to see it happen. I'm a new sub and I enjoy all your videos. Ron CT
This comment is written two years later. It is interesting that, after several setbacks, Adam did have a clay liner installed. You gave him wise advice.
Dig deeper than you think. Sedimentation is real and it's easier to do it now that later. I'm currently dealing with a shallow end of a pond that was 2-4ft and its dry. Dry dry in the summer (drive a side by side on) and its in pa! Way better to dig it down and add structure vs leave the dirt when you have the machinery there.
Nice video, something satisfying about watching a field get mowed down. being spring fed should really keep the water clarity up. We had a pond on the property when we made the purchase, not the prettiest one but we have been slowly working at it. I would suggest Installing some type of aerator. we had a "pond turn over" that took a lot of oxygen out and killed a lot of the shiners.
That’s going to be a nice pond and a great addition to your property. Great video allows us to see your vision. Looking forward to seeing you starting the project. Stay safe
When I built my pond I took a 55 gal plastic drum, drilled about 1000 5/8's holes in it, cut a hole to place a solid plastic 6 or 8 inch drain hose in it. Then burred it in the very bottom of the pond and covered it with 2" rock (ON top, all around and under). The bottom is where all the bad water accumulates. I burred the drain hose up the pond fill, under the dirt and out at the level I wanted the pond. All the bottom water drains out instead of the better surface water. If the dam is level and seeded well it will take care of the excess over flow without damage to the pond. When it does overflow the water has a wide distance and just slowly flows through the grass.
I'd love to have a pond. One of my firewood customers has a spring-fed pond with rainbow trout and he lets me catch trout every time I drop him 6 cords of OWB wood
Friend of mine got a pond for free. Maybe half the size of this one. He went to the fire department about providing a place for them to fill trucks and they needed one so with grant money they stopped up a small brook and put a hydrant on it.
Looked like a lot of wasted hay lol. Consider stocking with red ear and smallmouth bass since its a small pond. Consider structure in the pond and adding gravel. Good luck
Hi! What is the name of the music you used for the brush hog segment? Also my family used to live in Lancaster, PA so we enjoy seeing pictures and video of beautiful PA!
That's a lot of mowing! I prefer to let my cows keep the grass down for me - they don't use fossil fuels and they enjoy cutting grass a lot more than I ever did.
Don’t skimp on depth. Ten feet below your frost line. Cut banks to six feet ASAP to avoid water grass and cat tails. 1/2 acre could be over grown with undesirable plants in a short time.
Look forward to seeing all the work Adam, There is a guy on Utube who is an absolute blast on moving soil, Mike Morgan I think his name is, oh and he likes gravel. LOL
Your going to want plants that clean the water and think about dredging it due to build up of debris. A water fountain using solar to keep the pound oxygenated might be good for fish stocking and stopping algae growths.
Your pond is backwards, it's engineered incorrectly. The kidney shape needs to be pointed towards the house and the large radius curve needs to be away for strength and the kidney shape is to capture more runoff water from your land above. I'm not trying to be too far in your business, but..... If you look through aerial photos, farm ponds have always been designed the same way the low side is always the large radius curve with the dam for a reason. Love your videos keep up the good work.
Permit!? I have over 300 acres, I've built roads through the woods, a pond plus a few structures in the woods near the pond and I've never got a permit for any of that. I find it mind blowing why anyone would think it's ok to have to ask someone else if it's ok to do something on your own property. There's NO ONE who's going to tell me what I can and can't do. I mean seriously, ask permission to build something on your property. Do you realize how stupid that is.
Thanks for not talking about your advertisers products. I was going to unsubscribe and decided not to at this time. Mentioning your sponsor is no problem. A minutes long commentary is beyond what I will listen to.
Enjoying this channel for a while now from North of the border in Southern, Ontario. Cheers to you !

Leaving the grass to identify the area was cool and from the drone shot it really gave you a great idea what it will look like 👍🏻, great job Adam👍🏻

Excitting project in a wonderfull setting.I will be watching the following religiously thru the end of the entire project ! 👍👍👍
The multi view video of the mowing was very interesting. Really helped to see what the pond would look like.

We’re planning to build a pavillion down there as well
Utopia.
Thanks for sharing with us Adam.
The pond is going to be awesome! Nothing like catching dinner in your back yard too. Can’t beat the taste of fish that was just caught.
The pond looks like it's the shape of a heart ❤ I'm saying it is a heart 😉👍❤ good job, Adam!!
Haha I wanted it to have a little more character than just an oval
@@HometownAcres Well, you succeeded!! It's a heart ❤ 😍
Following with interest! I want to build a several acre pond, just have other priorities right now.
Thank you for educating about erosion & sediment control plans and compost filter sock!
Looking forward to seeing the whole process! Your videos are awesome! Keep it up living the American Dream!
What a treat to have two springs to feed it.
Morning mate this pond is going to look pretty cool good luck with that cannot wait to see it finished

Hello from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada. Thanks for sharing your great video’s please keep them coming.

Greetings Adam from S. E. Ohio. Love your aeriel view. Good luck on your pond. Have a wonderful rest of the day
I think I'm adding "Call Dan" to my to do list. We'd love to put a small pond on our western PA property. We've got plenty of springs to fill it!
Thanks a bunch Im in central Pennsylvania and looking to build a small pond the video was helpful
If you don't have access to a mower, run down to a farm store and ask for surveying flags. Cheap and easy.
Can't wait to see the pond project!
This will be fun to watch!
Fun stuff.i love my pond.
Great job Adam! Very informative video today. Thanks
I was wondering who was making the Crop Circles.
Great project Adam !!

The really big pain in PA, there is no single point of contact. Hiring a consultant is a must to avoid future heartburn.
At 11:38, who is Doug? LOL.
He knew some viewers would pick up on that oops!!! He gets it from me... I am terrible with names 😩
I thought that Dan was short and then I remembered that you are freaking tall😂😂. Looking forward to the pond. Blessings from New Orleans.
Adam awesome project and great content. I’m ready to see this pond when complete. Get your son some swimming lessons.
Man Adam that is going to be a nice pond… love the content you put out I can’t wait till my tractor is finished this week
I'd love to have a pond. One of my firewood customers has a spring-fed pond with rainbow trout and he lets me catch trout every time I drop him 6 cords of OWB wood
I'll be following along. Mrs. BuildAlot wants a swimming hole pond!

good project !!
I hope you are planning a direct feed of rain water off the roof and outbuildings to the pond or water tanks. Water is everything to a farm.
yea it’s been hot here to near Grove City.
Well there goes my dream of buying land to build a secret pond. Great information.
Great information, thank you.
Aren't the springs a wet land?
Don't be scared to go to 14 feet. Those fish will appreciate that.
How often does it rain up there Adam?
You could make some good money if that lower area was a hay field.
Mike, on Our Wyoming Life, could sure use that grass/hay!! They're in a serious drought 🙏
I was literally just thinking same thing
How many miles did it take you on the tractor to brush hog the whole field surrounding the soon to be lake site?
Hi! What is the name of the music you used for the brush hog segment? Also my family used to live in Lancaster, PA so we enjoy seeing pictures and video of beautiful PA!
ADAM, great idea, yinz will be able to have more time family time fishin, cause you'll have less grass to mow !!! Lol
Curious as to why you are brush hogging that lovely field of native growth... or am I mistaken about the plants you were cutting?
That's a lot of mowing! I prefer to let my cows keep the grass down for me - they don't use fossil fuels and they enjoy cutting grass a lot more than I ever did.
This is in PA?
I see a tractor with a air conditioned cab in your future. Great work. Beautiful drone footage.
Yeah a cab would be REALLY nice
Great info thanks for sharing
Can some please tell me what the tune is called
it’s gonna be sweet, can i fish it?
Don’t skimp on depth. Ten feet below your frost line. Cut banks to six feet ASAP to avoid water grass and cat tails. 1/2 acre could be over grown with undesirable plants in a short time.
Adam your place looks like mine I haven’t even hooked up my hog this year guess that’s something I should do. Take care, Ben.
Look forward to seeing all the work Adam, There is a guy on Utube who is an absolute blast on moving soil, Mike Morgan I think his name is, oh and he likes gravel. LOL
Saludos amigo Adam 👍
Look into Jordan Specialty excavating for your silt sock. Absolutely great family company to work with!!
Dan Recommended them. That will be who I go with most likely
Non of my business but on 5:20 your address is on the paper
85 degrees? Come to North Texas - 95 degrees every day this coming week!

What part of Pennsylvania are you in? I'm southwest somerset county
He's in Crawford
Yep
I'm thinking...walleyes, flat head catfish, and small mouth bass.
You should turn that into a hay field and sell hay.
I was thinking race track
Never know you might run into a underground spring where the pond will be.
So soon 🎣 fishing. Well I assume you are going to stock some fish right.
Yes

Is there some reason that you are not cutting hay and having it harvested instead of mowing only? Just sayin'!
If you're gonna be mowing all that, you really need a batwing mower and a old tractor. Just advice.
This is a must, if you live in Pennsylvania. I don't
Geez Dan, Eat a sandwich
Lol

Here when doing stuff around your own place it's much easier to ask for forgiveness then it is for permission...
You really should have a disclaimer on this video, considering the years of failed attempts to get this thing functional.
