- Blue Crabs, in this video we'll be setting our Blue Crab Traps (pots) on the East Coast Of Florida in an area we never crabbed before. letting the blue crab traps set for two days we were very surprised with our catch, also we caught a few Stone Crabs. Catch and Cook #catchingbluecrabs #bluecrabs #cookingbluecrabs
wow, what a great idea to use fajita seasoning on the crab. i love that stuff, i will have to try that!
Those crabs were good
i had no idea that the females only lay eggs once and thats it. learned that just by chance when that popped up on my youtube home page. so it makes me kind of sad that a local chinese restaurant will served egg bound females, with the skirt out and eggs on it, on their buffet.
Gail, I've never been to one of those buffets but that stinks if they're doing that, I thought it was illegal. Thanks again for Watching
@@TheOldCoupleOutdoors it should be.. and thx for the fun videos that you two put out.
Thank You JOYCE & SAM FOR TAKING ME CRABING LOVE Y'ALL 🇨🇱
That's definitely illegal and very disrespectful. They are literally wiping out so many crabs by doing that so sad
@@TheOldCoupleOutdoors
I don’t know everything about Blue Crabs, but I do know that mature female blue crabs only mate once, but they may produce egg sacks up to 3-4 times with stored sperm from the one mating encounter. That’s why I now try not to keep any immature females.
Also, the aforementioned eggs inside a female crab is not the same as the egg sack under her apron on her way to lay eggs. You cannot know the inside eggs are there until you actually open the crab, so Gail’s Food, Music and Stuff should not be upset with the restaurant she mentioned.
I totally understand where and/or why she or anyone else would get upset because of the decline in Blue Crab populations and trying to be objective, but there is a lot of information out there regarding reproduction and research on the most “delicious delicacy” on the great big ole planet Earth of ours🌎🦀🦀🦀 Please
continue doing what y’all do! I love watching y’all share and enjoy y’all selves, y’all love of each other and y’all love of the great outdoors 😍 Big Fan 😎
But if yoy break down on the side of a highway the State will charge $3500 to tow your car to a junkryard . But if own a million $ yacht you can collect insurace and pollute the bays as the oil and gasoline leach into the bay.
You're right, Thanks again for Watching our videos
Hey Sam and Joyce you guys will be eating good tonight love 💘 some crabs much love from Tennessee.
Thanks Helen, I have a friend in Tennessee who used to live in Atlantic City when we lived there, he said the only thing he misses are the crabs he would catch. Thanks again for Watching
Hey y’all. I love the crabs.. what a beautiful day too.
Spring is in the air.

Looks like a great new spot.
It does look good, we're going to set them again there in a couple of weeks and maybe less egg bearing females.
I hate texting but you know what I mean I love watching your show every time I do this this stupid voice thing it always comes out wrong your recipes are wonderful this show makes me very happy the other reply came out wrong just want to clarify ❤️👍👍👍🇺🇸💪✌️ I hope this one comes out better
Thanks again for Watching, it came out good.
That was the most egg toting females I have ever seen. Plus you got stone crab bonus traps. Joyce sure was making a mess with the mud🤪. Great video again stay safe guys
Thanks David
I love watching you guys free to Sammy Joyce make me so happy distilled white you guys go out and go fishing and crabbing and everything and trying to lie to your recipes all I have to say is damn they're good ❤️👍👍👍🇺🇸💪✌️
Thanks for Watching
Another masterpiece of educational material. 👍
Thank you very much
The brussel sprouts ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww lol
A lot of people say that but Joyce makes them taste good.
I loved the way those crabs looked when they came out of the oven! Looked like something from a fancy restaurant! Delicious!
Sponge females look so weird, think of the number of crablets they will produce❤
Thanks for the Video:)
P.s. if there's any mud around I'll usually find it with my clothes😂
Joyce and I always find the mud especially shrimping lol.
I will always watch you I've watched you when you first started to channel and you had only like had 5 people ❤️
❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍💪🇺🇸✌️
Mike, we really appreciate it
May God always be with you both, for I truly love to see both of you of what god has to give to you . Old Master Gunnery SGT USMC.
Thank you SGT
You both are the best thing since slice bread and I enjoy your vid's. The sweetest old couple on the net. Old Master Gunnery SGT USMC.
The females need salty water to lay eggs. I never go to the N. Causeway area in NSB, too salty and you catch mostly females. Where you set your traps this time must have higher salinity than Tomoka basin area.
Right, it's the same in the oak Hill area. The St Johns River is best for males.
@@TheOldCoupleOutdoors Depends on where in Oak Hill. I caught the biggest jimmie I've ever seen at my secret Oak Hill spot. 9" from point to point. He was delicious!
That's the cheese in the woman crabs I don't care for malesthe woman have the meat and that cheese yall throwing away you can make a sauce
Hello Sam and Joyce.
Well I just wanted to tell you I went crabbing Sunday. Did ok. Video coming out soon. But I used Joyce's blue crab cakes recipe tonight and it really turned out good.
Thanks for the video. Definitely doing it again.
Ed, Glad the recipe worked out for you. Looking forward to the video.
Ok guys that another rap.
Nice video. Looks like you were in Melbourne. If I'm right we use to camp at a resort close to that tall tower building in the back ground.
So Sam, you said they consider stone crabs to be a by catch in a blue crab trap? Does that mean even if it's closed season you can still keep them?
That new recipe looked good. I love peach salsa. If your ever in publix they have one in the produce department. It's a sweet/spicy one.
Best I've had.
Hope all is well.
Tight lines....
Ed, the stone crabs have to be in season and the claws legal size. Don't forget you now have to put turtle extruders on your blue crab traps. We were north of Oak Hill.
Sam. I've been trying to make some shorts video's to put out. I see you have done a couple. I can't figure that out. Any tips would be appreciated.
Ed, All the ones I've done I used clips from our videos and used filmora to edit them in a vertical format under 60 seconds and uploaded them from my phone after that if I wanted to change anything I used my laptop.
Female crabs with eggs don't add to the inner table now, but will make many, many future crabs. Great video guys. Thank you very much.
Thanks again for Watching
Did I see a stovetop percolator coffee pot? Haven’t seen one of those since I was young. The smell of coffee percolating is such a wonderful scent!
We use it every morning, we also love that smell. Thanks for Watching our videos
Wow...boat load of females. 4/0 job as usual. I'm learning something about you two. You kids love your crabs...lol. Thanx for posting.
And thank you very much for Watching
Is that closer to the ocean? By the inlet/ mouth of the bay. Females like saltier water.
You're right in some areas there's only females, like around Daytona but the crabs we catch there are the best tasting. Thanks for Watching
I'm just waiting the good season and I can't wait to resume my crab fishing but this years I would like to catch another type of crab, real similar to the crab stone!!!!Over here it's called FAVOLLO or FELLONE!!!I saw their name in English but I forgot it!!!!This crab is a bit more difficult because lives beneath the rock of the sea!!!!Right now I'm just fishing clams but it's fine!!!!Greetings from Italy and my compliments to you🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Marco, I hope you have a good season and Thanks a lot for Watching our videos. Always great to hear from Italy
Another great video. Where can you purchase crab traps any suggestions?can’t find any locally around me. Thanks
Three Kings Crab Traps in Salt Springs Florida. And in Mississippi, Rising Sun Crab Traps Thanks for Watching
Hi Sam & Joyce, Looks like you hit the jackpot of females that day. I'm happy you had enough to make a dinner. That's a new kind of way to cook the crabs, I've definitely got to try this way to cook my crabs. I've got some in my freezer so I just need the Paul Newman's Salsa. Thanks for the video.
Maria, those crabs were good, try it. Thanks again for Watching
😮 now I’m hungry 😋 looks delicious. Enjoy
You can't beat Blue Crabs
Hello my favorite RUclips Old Couple Joyce Sam you all caught and released a lot of females I’m glad you did have some keepers. Mrs Joyce you always bring us some great new recipes for blue crabs thank you and God Bless🦀🦀❣️❣️
Thanks, and there were a lot of females that day.
Stone crab claws are my favorite treat. So expensive though 😬. I can’t wait to see you guys make crab pizza!
We want to try blue crab pizza, we never made it before, I'll have to pick some crabs. Stone crabs are good, if we can get a nice day we'll set our stone crab traps in the Gulf that's where we catch the most and the largest
Here is my thumbs up 👍 👌 😀. You just keep them coming. Now I can't wait until you make the pizza crab. 😋
Thanks Curtis
I love watching you guys. The dinner looks delicious. When you eat the crabs so this is for Debbie.
Ok, Thanks Debbie
Love you guys, we watch from the UK and really enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the good work! X
Thank you Emma, we really appreciate you watching our videos
If you listened close you could hear those screaming for garlic bread.
That sounds good to me
Greetings from Italy,I finally resumed my crabs fishing since 3 days but I catch only the small!!!Folks over here has said that I must wait the turning of the water in hot,so they will make return from the sea!!!!Anyway over there you respect these crabs while over here has been given the alarm cause they are killing our native crabs and fish,so peoples over here hates blue crabs while honestly I don't!!!But this year I would like to catch some Warty crabs as well!!!!
It's the same with us, sometimes we just catch only small ones like we're doing now. Those blue crabs are good eating. Good luck with your crabbing. It's always nice to hear from Italy. Thanks again for Watching
I'll have to try this one looks very delicious I'll be putting my traps out here in Texas next week
Alan, they were good, try it.
Looks delicious as usual keep up the great videos I really love watching your TV hope you both had a great birthday
Thanks Sandra, we did
I'm glad I seen that recipe I've never thought about doing crabs that way thank you so much for sharing it with us
We're glad you enjoyed the video.
She’s guys as usual do you have a drooling over your gourmet blue lobster recipe. Thanks so much for the fun. Wish you could send some my way
Thanks Leslie
Need to find brackish water (mix salt and fresh) for males females need salt water for eggs
Jim, we crab in the St Johns River and they're all males but they've been running small so we've been trying some different spots.
Great crab video I'll be looking out for the pizza
We're going to make it
I have found so far once I get into females with eggs there are always females with eggs of different stages based on salinity of water. have set traps 3 times in area thinking eventually be better mix of crabs, no luck just eggs
John, last year we set our pots in a different area and the same thing, lots of females with eggs we went a month later and caught more males still females but not as many. We'll try this spot one more time. Thanks for Watching
Please don't remove both claws of a stone crab. They can't feed themselves without a claw and will starve to death.
We caught several with both claws removed and they were in good shape with new claws forming. That tells me the system works, if they're removed properly. Thanks a lot for Watching
So glad you do these vids even my 68 year old mother likes watching
That's great we're glad she enjoys them, she's a young lady compared to us we're 76 tell her we said hello. Thanks again for Watching we really appreciate it
You guys light up my day!!! Living the dream and you found a banging crab population.
Jeff that was the first time we set the traps in that area and it turned out great.
Thumbs up for everything but thw brussel sprouts :)
Thanks, LOL
Finally my net works this time that i could watched these videos and those previous one😊
That's great Debbie
So rare to see so many just females like that. Usually, they are mixed. Seems like all the males in that area have been fished out. Stone crabs were a great bonus 😋 👌
The same thing happened at a different spot last year.
Hey guys, I'm here...I shared to my 3 friends, they are hooked too.
Thanks Rose we really appreciate it
Another wonderful video ... can I come for dinner 🙂
We were expecting you, Thanks again for Watching
So you don't have to cook the stone claws immediately?
They were cooked Tashika thenm we freeze the claws until we get enough for a meal unless we have a good day..
7:55 Going to give You The Claw in a way You don’t want.😂
You're right
I live in northern California in Burson CA
Did you ever get out and catch those Dungeness crabs?
Do you freeze the stone crab toes uncooked or do they need to be cooked first?
We cook them first then freeze them. Thanks for Watching
Great video, Thanks.
Thank you for Watching
What location of st john river do u crab
Usually south of Palatka, this video was taken south of Daytona in the Halifax River
Definitely fun! I totally agree.
Thanks
✌️😎
The salinity in that area must be very high?
It is Renny, we're going to wait a month and try it one more time.
I love the variety of your recipes!
Thanks Mike, Joyce just makes them up and they always turn out good. Thanks for Watching
WOW! So delicious looking.

You're right
That looks so good, that next time l am going to do it😂
They were good Mayra

They were good Maria
There’s more female crabs than a Loves Truck Stop.
LOL, this time of year you do catch a lot of females in salt water.
I do agree and I’m glad you have a sense of humor as well. I live in the Daytona area myself. Thank you for the great videos.
Nice to see a lot of females with eggs
Maria, great for the future
Wow alot of females.
Your right, but I hope that's a good sign for the future.
Looks good Joyce
Thanks
Can y’all tell me what you mean when you say, I’m going to PICK them.
I'm going to pick the meat out of the crabs so we can make something out of it. Thanks again for Watching

Thanks Tammy
That looks delicious! Thanks Sam and Joyce for sharing another great recipe 😘
Thanks Alice
Sam & Joyce,
Your crabbing videos bring back fond memories of my parents, sisters & I crabbing in Florida. Joyce, I love your recipes & wished you did a video on your bread & rolls. Are there any videos on your gem hunting & gold panning? Thank you for the wonderful memories.
Take care,
Jo & family.
Glad you enjoy the videos. We're going to make a bread video, I did make one but it was way too long so we're going to do it over. We're thinking about going out west again and doing some trout fishing and gold prospecting when we go we'll make some videos. Our first couple of videos were gold prospecting and rock hounding. Thanks for Watching
That was a lot of egg bearing crabs, glad you were able to keep enough for dinner. Love the presentation on that recipe, you’re right , the tomatoes look like the crab shells 😂 looked delicious, we love our tomatoes in the oven. Great video 😊
Thank you, those crabs did turn out good and they were full of meat. Thanks a lot for Watching
Love your videos and look forward to seeing new ones! Can you show us the crab pre-cook cleaning process please? they always look pristine as Joyce prepared for oven or boiling. Thanks!
Ok Justin
Does the male or female have the most meat....
Hi Rose, I'm from the New Orleans area & both can be equally full of meat. But the best times to find both full of meat is around the full moons.
@@mariacambre8971 hi, and thank you.
I think about the same for their size. Those crabs were packed with meat both male and female
