Glad we are talking about this topic! We must discuss cringe from a class-caste lens as well. People from certain circles look down on certain content (e.g. tiktokers) and thats how cringe is defined in the culture. Many people dont even think about this when they call something cringe and its messed up.
In my teenage years, wearing high-waist trousers was considered uncool and cringe but now so many fashion influencers adopt it in varying degrees.
YESS!! before that the nerdy geek glasses were considered cringe and now there is no greater fashion statement than the geek glasses look.
You should call someone on the podcast whose content is considered "cringe"! Would like to hear this perspective

Over judgemental issues and after that you do get some kind of new news everyday. You start overthinking. It results in cringe explained with a good diagram. You move on step by step over a period of time with genuine efforts from your colleagues. Past couple of months had been really tough to get out of it. But slowly recovering and adjusting to new norms. One thing I really appreciate is that everyone is trying their best to make someone's life normal. That is the best part of social media. Luv u guys for explaining it so simply and in the bestest way possible 😊👌

P.S.: Contrapoints also mentioned how cringe is a form of over-empathizing and comes from a place that is good but the very trait of empathy is what we sorta start weaponizing against us [mostly because we imagine ourselves in that space and can't think of a good way to get out of that spot; we try to *feel* what the other person is feeling (based on our emotional projection) and then feel uncomfortable because we imagine how uncomfortable we'd be in that situation]

it's cool to be edgy nowadays and as a comedian it is a second nature to these people. honestly I used to feel the same way about optimism, enthusiasm, i used to despise it. but now I don't do it anymore, as a human, you can't subjugate yourself to negativity all the time(unless you're clinically depressed, in which case you need therapy), she is just being silly.
