Lake Pukaki Visitor Centre New Zealand 4K 2021 | New Zealand Walking Tour 4K | Mt Cook Alpine Salmon

A 2.5 hour drive from Queenstown or 30 minutes from Lake Tekapo Village, Lake Pukaki is the largest lake in the Mackenzie District covering 178 sq kms along the northern edge of the Mackenzie basin under the magnificent presence of New Zealand’s highest mountain Aoraki/Mount Cook. Glacial fed, its waters are turquoise blue caused by ‘glacial flour’ particles suspended in the water. Mt. Cook Alpine Salmon Shop is inside this visitor centre. It is the highest altitude salmon farm in the world - only wilderness exists between the farm and the mountains. Lunch on the award-winning salmon sashimi, picnic amidst the scenic views of Mt Cook. You may feel Mt Cook is closer here but actually it is 70 kilometres away. The experience is just amazing.

It’s one of the best views in New Zealand. We’re lucky enough to see Mt Cook on a clear day a few years back. Really miss it. It brings back all the memories. And the salmon melted in the mouth....New Zealand is such a simple and magical place, you cannot find a restaurant nearby, but the view worth it all👍👍❤️❤️
