A good analysis of physiology in low/no g. Most of the ships in The Expanse generate gravity by acceleration not spinning. That particularly stood out because The Behemoth did have a spinning hull and this is where the ships moved their wounded.
Actually, reversing the blood flow was historically done, with some success as a treatment for heart attacks. This way, one can switch the function of pumping the blood to the tissue capillaries (which is harder) of the left chamber to the right chamber which is normally doing the easier work of pumping into the lung alveoli.
there was an astronaut that actually had a heart attack in space, but because of the micro gravity, his blood flow had reversed. I can't remember his name though
Gotta say guys that I'm really enjoying and appreciating the detail of coverage on The Expanse. American Ben is killing the character analysis and Allen is breaking down the science per usual! Thank you for your dedication and making informative and entertaining videos. Great video Allen! I feel smarter about space travel now.
Sure you can make fun of Florida all you want, but keep in mind Florida has launched 339 astronauts which is 339 more than any other state. On the other hand, people are in a real hurry to leave that state, like 17,000 miles per hour kind of hurry.
I heard about this idea of having astronauts wear smart compression suits in space. Supposed to go a bit of the way to solving the blood problem. They’re only a theoretical solution now, but maybe they’ll be a solution until something better comes along.
Can you design a suit that sends jolts of electrical pulses to various parts of the muscles to assist the veins in contraction, forcing better blood circulation? Plus wouldnt said electrical pulses help stimulate muscle growth without the necessity of working out?
Since we're so good with tech, and we can already make pacemakers, is it possible to make a mechanical pumping system using bypass valves and pressure sensors and the like to assist the heart in space to apply some extra pressure when backflow or low flow rate is sensed? Wishful thinking but we've done more impossible things before. Also, humans should get mech organs. We know what functions we need and we can simplify the biological processes with machines by removing cross organ dependencies.
Another solution is body augmentation. Cybernetics or nanomachines that help pump our blood or heal wounds. I prefer nanomachines bacause "Nanomachines, son"
Yeah. Nanites is the best solution to all medical problems. Unless it's mental related. Imagine we have self replicating nanobot in our body that replace dead cells with it, or breakdown cancer/tumor cells to build copies of it to maintain our body.
Star Trek definitely didn't have to worry about injuries and recovery in zero G what with magically robust artificial gravity tech that could outlast 90% of the ship's functions. If I were writing about a scifi society that mastered space travel, I'd probably give them nano machine boosted blood that can compensate for and regenerate bodies in zero g, probably how nano machines accomplish everything in Metal Gear Solid 4...
You should check out the anime Apace Battleship Yamato sometime; I'm sure there are several fans that would be interested in your opinion of the title ship, and there was a recent remake called Space Battleship Yamato 2199 that is quite accessible compared to the original show.
In all fairness, the indigenous people that you mentioned didn’t really seem very interested in combining cultures if my memory of history class serves correct. Not to discount your point which has a solid amount of validity. However we need to remember Jamestown and the possible outcome of the lost Roanoke Colony, to just to name the first couple that come to mind. There have been multiple accounts through the early years of indigenous peoples attacking without any kind of provocation. So let’s be honest, there are two sides to this. Neither side is totally innocent.
Adam, I’ve watched quite a number of your videos and I appreciate the effort you put into the production. As of today you are my second most favorite RUclips content producer. Thank you very much! You make it wonderful to explore all aspects of the given point of view.

For a programme that prides itself on science realism, it lets itself down a bit with medicine. Basically, they have a magic box that heals just about everything without even having a doctor. Even Star Trek/Star Wars medicine isn't that advanced. The not being able to heal in zero gravity and the magic box not being able to get around it is just slightly lazy plotting but still the best thing since Battlestar Galactica and B5
Watching Expanse, I always wondered why they didn't stay true to form and only hire 6ft plus people to play belters. There some creative and great choices in the actors, but they sometimes looked so much more muscular and fit than the characters who were supposed to be Earthborne.

@@nothing2see315 What does that even mean!
That settles it; when I go back into space, I'm taking a gravity field with me.
a gravity field shoe
Just take a spinning room in space it can stimulation gravity
A series of micro black holes under the ship’s floors should do it.
A good analysis of physiology in low/no g. Most of the ships in The Expanse generate gravity by acceleration not spinning. That particularly stood out because The Behemoth did have a spinning hull and this is where the ships moved their wounded.
Yeah why does it seem he is under the impression that its spin and not thrust gravity most of the time?
There are ships in the Expanse that use centrifugal gravity.
It wasn't until 8 minutes in till I realised "hes still on the floor isint he?" 🤣
yeah, then it hit me how he had stated that being in front of the camera was his least favorite part of the channel. a very smart move that gag was.
Decelleration.
It's not that complicated to pronounce.
you just don't understand belter creole?

Deceleration, it only has one “l”.
As somebody from florida, I often find myself thinking "what the hell are you doing florida!?"
Duh, just spin the patients to get them to drain blood.
i feel like that could induce vomit though
@@GenerationFilms it could be a new ride in parks or sold on the market.
Generation Films Kinda like Star Trek: Picard? 🤮
That's exactly what I was thinking. Especially if doing an operation to an injured.
@@GenerationFilms but theres no gravity, our ears wouldnt detect the spin, so you just need to close you eyes
In the expanse they use thrust gravity not only spin gravity
thrust gravity doesn't work inside 'the ring", so the had back to old method - spinning the drum of washing machine (i forgot the name of the ship)
