- Well the question is , is the new Insta360 Ace as good as the Insta360 Ace Pro in low light, today we're doing a Insta360 Ace Pro vs Ace low light test to see if the Ace can keep up with the Ace Pro. The Ace has better white balance and more correct colors but the Ace Pro has the better dynamic range and therefore a better exposure of the face. Considering the lower price and the smaller sensor the Ace is absolutely great and can easily outperform GoPro in Lowlight and can keep up with DJI Action 4 in almost every way.

The Ace actually was very close to that of the Ace Pro, there was only a few times where the pro was slightly better. That is awesome test becase the Ace is currently $160 cheaper than the Ace Pro.

As much as I like GoPro's, they just suck in low light. This Ace Pro is a great little action camera.

Best trip I've ever taken had train travel on one very long leg of it...35 hours from MPLS to Portland. The trip was great, scenic, and historic pieces of train travel along the way. Food was good, so relaxing. But it is a different type of travel and not all might see the experience as we might...but do go when you get the chance!
We’re going to take a short trip this weekend, I’m really looking forward to it.
Finally a product that challenges and brings GoPro team to their correct senses. It has been too long for GoPro to think they’re the only one. Tired of them being sub-par with their products. Slow UI, bad low-light and what not.
Insta Ace is the way to go!
In some of the shots I thought the Ace looked better than the Ace Pro. Both of them were very impressive. But how they compare in daylight is much more important to me. Great side by side testing. And I hope you take that train ride someday. It's been a long time since I rode a train as well. Thanks for sharing.

Must say, the ace performs maybe better than gopro 12. it's as an action cam are now.
But that pro, waw. Just crazy perfekt in movement, HDR is as it had a big lens on. How. How do they do that.

To my eyes (I'm 78 so take my comment in that context), sometimes the ACE and sometimes the PRO. Don't think anyone could go wrong with either one.
Was the Ace set to standard profile, while the Ace Pro set to vivid? Or flat/standard? The colors are drastically different, but the image quality is fairly close before night time shots.
Yes the colors are very different, but both were set to standard color to keep them on even ground. Interesting how much of a difference in how they render colors from the Ace Pro to the Ace.

I thought earlier in the evening the Ace was better but as it got darker the Pro came through as the best. Can you take it scuba diving, id love to see how it compares to a gopro at about 15m

360 Pro better, but seems a git laggy?
📽Yeah it "looks" like it was out of sync but the weird thing is, both were recording at 29.97 fps with no frame drops. Weird

The Pro is great but the Ace did better than I expected. It seems to have held its ground respectively. I'll probably end up selling my Canon Vixia R82 and Sony AS300 and buy the Ace Pro.
Yes the Ace held it's own considering it has a smaller sensor.
GoPro has alot of catching up to do.
Thanks for making the video, but which camera captured the right color of the sky? Was the night sky as blue as the Pro showed? Also, I noticed that the Pro seemed to handle your face better than the Ace towards the end of the video where is was darker.
Neither as it was dark outside so the sky was not blue, but the Ace Pro definitely wins in the low light department
The Ace handles shadows better in 'low' light but the Ace pro takes it when the sun goes down.
I like the wb better on the Pro but not sure it justifies the price difference. They are very close but the Pro wins in my mind.
You should at least catch the train into the Stockyards. 😅
Yeah after doing this video last night, I told my wife that I at least want to ride that train, she said "Sure" which means I'll be going by myself
Hi Andre. In pure video mode, did you switch low light stabilisation on in the right hand video menu? One thing I noticed is that the right hand menu for video settings doesn’t retain the low light stabilisation if you switch the camera off. I was trying mine out in the dark and noticed that it has to be switched in every time I turn on. I’m guessing that it keeps the shutter a little higher.
Hi Ian, no I had low light stabilization off on both cameras for this video, just shot in pure video.
OK, thanks. I’m not exactly sure what the low light stabilisation does. If it raises the shutter, then I’m wondering whether it raises the iso as well …. Then the AI cleans it up?
The low light stabilisation switch also reverts back to off if you switch the camera off and on again. So if you want to use it, you have to switch it on every time you use it.
Do they both have the AI editing? And would I regret buying the Ace instead of paying €100 more for the Ace Pro? I'd use it for travelling around so I don't think I'll be in the dark a lot.. I'm really confused but I do think the Ace Pro is kinda expensive and I'm not sure if it's worth the extra €100 as I'll be a first time action camera owner/user.. Thank you for the video btw!!
Yes the Ace and Ace Pro both have the 5nm A.I. chip with A.I. features

They are both great cameras. The Ace holds its own. The Pro has some advantages in low light. But they’re both better than other action cams I’ve seen (or have). The Pro certainly has some better detail because of the 8k. But as much as I like the Insta360 products, I hope the can work on the Pro’s coloring a bit. Maybe with a software fix. Great sound & stabilization on both !! Thx for the comparison. At least take a day trip on one of those trains. 🚂🛤️👍👍
