- Plot: Chiranjeev (Raj Kapoor), lives a wealthy lifestyle, along with his father, Kashiram (Raj Mehra), two sisters, out of which on is dumb, and a younger brother. Once while travelling, his friend, Mohan (Om Prakash), falls ill due to alcohol and is taken to a nearby ashram for treatment. Here, Chiranjeev comes in contact with Sharada (Meena Kumari) and the two eventually fall in love. Once Mohan, is treated and is ready to leave the ashram, Chiranjeev promises to seek his parents approval and come soon to marry her. But, while going back home, Chiranjeev meets with an accident and is treated by the local villagers. He leaves for the ashram once he is treated only to know that Sharada is married to a rich but old man. Things get more worse, when he learns that Sharada is married to his father. Will he be able to accept his own love as his step-mother? Will he ever get married or always remain a bachelor? To know more, watch the movie.

The acting is really great of the two leads Raj kapoor and meena kumari but storyline is abit disturbing especially if a remake of this movie was made in today's times although this movie is a super hit

The movie is not of today's times coz today love does not include sacrifice. Refusal leads to assault n murder. But for a woman, especially of those times, love has different forms & layers.
