lol it does actually help, I’ve had plenty of experience talking to Spanish speakers in English and speaking proper English with an American accent will get you no where. Break the English down, add an accent and speak with emotion and they will understand they are not stupid.

It’s something we Latinos do as a Puerto Rican I can tell you that we do it a lot it’s just what we call other guys for example “Mira papi” literally translates to “look dad/daddy” but is more equivalent to “look dude” depending on the context it’s all about context and culture
