Still love the golf 5 gti. Timeless design and so many options to upgrade👌
I even love my FSI :D
@@timmetjuh070 lol,not sure if mine fail its MOT test next month or not , rust is becoming a problem
@@Freimopp777 Ooh yikes, i dont have rust YET.
@@timmetjuh070 Same. Its ain't fast but for sure super fun for a 1.6 hatchback. Simple, squeaky plastics, dual mass dying, yup 220 000km, still loving it. 👍🏻
@@Freimopp777 No rust here as well. Surprising since mine is a 2004, many zeros in the VIN, made in Italy. 👍🏻
I barely make it through a month and bought a red Mk5 GTI like this one last year on impulse that had a chip tune (about 250 hp). I love to drive and I thank Volkswagen for creating such a nice car for the masses. I wanted a sportscar but this is plenty fun and you can go on roadtrips with friends and family. Actually brought home my first child in it from the hospital. It has rust and paint is peeling off but I'm so happy. It also have coilovers so it's very flat in the corners. I will have it until it doesn't work anymore. Whenever I have free spare time and half a full tank I just go and drive! Love you my fellow car friends, it's not about what you drive it's about if you enjoy driving it and cherishing it
That was such a fun and eye opening lap. Thank you Misha. Can't wait to be back in 2023. Some upgrades are planned to make the car more suited for the track.
What exhaust you runnin, sounds awesome and yes you have an LSD its an Edition 30
What exat year your gti is
@@bomber390 in the video he says 2007
I think 🤔 you scared little bit andi 😅 Misha is good drivers and faster 👏
your car is so amazing perfect handling and perfect power such a great track car enjoy her and maintain her properly and she will do you well
The way you’ve been pushing it tells me you where pretty comfortable despite the understear
thats the nature of understeer
An 8:23 BTG in a car you’ve never been in before.
For me owning one of these myself that is bloody impressive.
Nice car & hell of a ride in the second half. 👌🏼
I Like the sound of GTI with DSG (arguably ok). And prefer seeing the rev counter as well; but understand if it‘s not showable at a time. 👌🏼
Nice ! i have a fully forged mk5 450bhp, manual, Quaife lsd , R8 brakes etc would be good to let you loose in it
How tf do R8 brakes fit on a MK5 Golf lmao
I drove a GTI from time to time and I ended up buying a base model.
Still a lovely car for a daily.
Thank you guys for this video. 👍🏻
Great driving as always! Have a mk6 dsg with just a remap on e30 and it's such a fun car to drive. The dsg is done surprisingly well by vw and really keeps the car in boost.
Great lap. The GTI is so competent and modifiable.
i love my mk5 gti it handles so well as stock , but now i thinking about a tune :D.........its also the best car i ever owned :) Mine is 16 years old runs like a dream and surprisingly nice in snow lol
i did stage 1, huge difference. intake also gives it just that bit more go once its tuned
Beautiful, I’ve got a manual Ko4 365bhp mk5 myself. Absolute machines!
Some better LCAs and rear sway bar helps the under steer a lot, plus a Wavetrac LSD and you’ve got a big improvement here. After that might consider even more power and 265 tires.
I have an 8P with the BWA motor so I quite enjoyed this! Great drive this thing was hustling through there.
Still hustling it through the corners, ignoring the understeer! Driven like you know the car perfectly!
Another awesome video with one of my favorite cars!
Really impressed with the vogtlands😂 I passed on these coils but they seem to do very well, very capable setup for the price.
love to see that! Still have my MK5 2.0 TDI with ECU tune that we lapped in 2020. Very tempted to go MK7 GTI or even this one next year - just a tune is almost 300hp as well.
I still own my MK5 GTI with the K03 turbo with all the modifications as yours, but I am also running water Meth, upgraded inter cooler, and some other bits. Also, I do have a LSD , and power flex bushings throughout the whole suspension, along with KW coil overs. For the brakes I am running stock size 2 piece rotors with Porsche 986 calipers.
Had one for 3 years. Mine isnt the edition 30 but has a stage 1 tune. 250bhp still a capable car with the DSG.
amazing second half, I could watch that all day long!
Hello, i m still loving my 2008 Golf 5 GTI Edition 30. With 308 PS, 470 NM and now still running since 245000km very nice and well. Thanks Björn from NET Tuning and Hasan from HG for the support. This is the best car i ever have. Everyday so much fun with the best Golf GTI
16:40 anybody notice the action around - the guy cleaning the beauty and the 230i driving around the apex parking area.
Great driving, these are speed from a stock m3 e90/92
Did some research into these as was considering buying one in the last few months, more so a manual and not going for tons of power as stock power or stage 1 would be more than enough for me at the moment. Anti lift kit and anti roll bars are the two main things people recommend, as well as good set of coilovers, but the anti lift kit is the main thing
Roll bars, anti lift, camber adjustment and polybush suspension with some good coilovers its very good. If u have money go buy lsd something like blackline (They are cheaper copy of wavetrack). Mk5 golf drives very poor without cambers so this is one of must have mods
I have waited a long time, but finally it's here 🥰
Thank you for testing a golf 5 gti!
i myself own one and I am more than happy with that car
Such a great all rounder with none of the new safety crap from todays gtis
increase my attention in this chanel when i stop to hear what misha explain for cars owners after lap, so humble!!!!
It's a way to say them what it is necessary to make better the sport car.
love the sound of that motor
LSD will help, front camber is your issue sweet spot for track work is -3 👌🏻
Great video 👌🏻👊🏻🔥
Mooi rondje!
Nice, AN = Ansbach in Franconia/Bavaria. There are some guys driving around with AN-AL or ANUS plates 😂
Yeah man. Solid lap. Really enjoyed that. ✌
210 ia respectable through the first compression. LSD would definitely help. The alignment seems a bit off. Very nice car! Thanks for sharing. You have a gem there.
This lap time-wise is really close to the Gan-San Prototype S2000 lap! Worth watching side by side.
A similarly modified S2000 with gansan would be leaps ahead.
@@mediocreman2 we all know
I have a mk6 GTI which is nearly identical to this and if you find that it has an under-steer problem it’s all in the setup. Around higher speed corners on track I have to be back on the throttle fast after turn in to transfer load to the rear to keep it from rotating too much too fast and I’m running balanced anti-roll bars. But my car has XDS which works extremely well if your throttle application is smooth, I’m not sure if this car has that though.
Also, visually it looks like this car is super bouncy mid corner like it’s hitting the bumpstops and then pogoing rapidly. The car needs more rebound in the dampers and probably fresh, stiffer suspension bushings in the rear position on the front control arms and fresh, stiffer rear trailing arm bushings. Either that or smooth out how you turn the car in so it can gently settle onto the bumpstops instead of crashing into them causing them to overcorrect with an abrupt shove into rebound.
Many things to improve in this one . We have loads of These in Greece with amazing mods . Nice video we need more of these ( ordinary cars )
Can’t wait to get the golf 6 up and compare!
I got the Quaife LSD in my manual ed30, and I have to say it is amazing, it adds a lot of of grip to the front end. I am also running 330ish HP and the car could handle more.
love to see engines on cars you drive
Spot on Misha rear H&R ARB really helps, and gives more steering feel. Decent alignment with a bit more front negative camber..🙂
My mk5 is also on rear hnr arb
That looked like so much fun
I would love to see a cam showing your foot action. :D awesome driving.
Man I wish here in NZ we got coupe GTI's. I got a mk5 and had it for 3 years. I have had APR stage 1 tune exhaust and Cold air intake, bigger brakes and running PS4 tyres. Makes 260hp
Nice Mk5 did you do anything to the dsg? Cooling? Does it not overheat or slip when it's too hot? Tnx!
im definitely a jdm-bro and have had vws as well and these DSG boxes are hella good tbh with handling power.
Yea and it is insane how they made first gen and its has more hp that was made and no problem whatsoever
I always loved the Golf 5 GTI but rumours of the DSG box always put me off from buying one…… this car’s acceleration from 60 - 150 is quick. Fast car👌🏽
ed30 lovely ! ❤ i still miss mine !
@Misha im coming to Nurburg next year with a MK5 R32, your welcome to take it for a lap
Would love to see that.
As an R/C racer (used to FWD category), I can advise a stronger diff, a littre more camber at ftont, stronger antiroll bar at the rear and some weight shift from front to rear (battery in the rear would help for ex) Now, if it's only 'on power' understear, changes on the rear won't do much. From factory, mk4 and 5 golf are realy an all man's friend, really stable , no mather what you do behind the wheel. A 306 or 307 is the opposite, for whatever reason...
Mk4 is a torsion beam awful mess.
Mk5 seems a proper car and not a Fiat 127 competitor
So you have to change the whole car in order to not understeer😂 vags are the masters of understeer🎉
What if a Fwd car doesnt have rear antiroll bar like Golf 4 chasis?
@@k1luca more tire pressure at rear
@@k1luca if a car is well balanced like bmws or hondas or ford it doesnt need antiroll bard in order not to understeer.only golfs and S3s do these shit😂
Yup tfsi good engine to tune S3 is the best platform of this era you get quattro and option if dsg.
Superb!
Beautiful car
Only LSD won't change much, it requires also equal length axle shafts (Tsr performance offers intermediate shaft kit).
Think the TSR kit is just for manual GTIs. The bkd diesel engined A3, Touran or Passat shafts fit the DSG cars though. Its on the list for mine along with an lsd at the same time as currently lack of traction on slower corner exits is very annoying.
@@DaveMsport Yes, I know it's not fit to DSG but anyway with this kind of mods you have to have friend at machine shop.
What an amazing drive. Its always been my dream to drive the mk4 golf R32 on the nurburgring! But that Porsche at 9:03 must be doing atleast 160mph or 170mph 😮
Nice. What did you prefer. This, or that Polo GTI you drove recently?
Would be cool to see an S3 8p in the ring!
Does anyone know when the 2023 tourist dates will be announced?
It s seem so easy when you drive. Amazing.
Did golf 5 have DSG, or regular auto with paddle shift?
Misha I will bring my mk5 gti build soon s3 engine stage 2 + 374bhp! Will be fun!
Thats not bad at all, I'm quite impressed
When is the e61 M5 video dropping?
@misha, the mk5 kills power when left foot brake too when stock so this one must have it coded out too.
My GTI was really annoying on track when used do it.
In terms of handling, roll center adjustable front control arms and the H&R anti roll bars with front on medium and rear on stiff made an amazing difference for mine so would definitely recommend them.
For brakes I have Cayenne S fronts and R32 rears and TTRS master cylidner which works extremely well.
Next thing for me is a lsd as even with K03 turbo. Slower corner exits are a waste of time!
The mk6 GTI steering rack fits the Mk5 too which would be a nice upgrade and think it's a prety common retrofit given many early mk5 racks can give trouble.
you can get around it on stock tune. just have to brake in a certain way its a bit odd but easy once you're used to it
Stock GTI brakes 😮 surprised they aint had an easy upgrade to the 345mm setup from the S3/Cupra
personally i think few more mods and it’s a beast, but i’m from usa and i never herd of this edition for the mk5, nice video bro.
it's a standard mk5 with r32/edition 30 rear lights, painted rear bumper and some hardware, maybe a k04 swap to make it like an edition 30 without the engine differences
yeah the Edition 30 was never sold in the US unfortunately, its basically a Mk6R engine and turbo (so its BYD engine code and K04 turbo, Mk6R is CDL but internally the same). 230ish hp iirc. go super hard with just a stage 1 as well
Youre missing out, the edition30 is really a nicer gti with the k04 and some other fun bits, modded ones are really powerful
Nice video by the way do you have a video of a golf 6 Gti
My car is 2005 golf 5 gti and I love it too, I don't have a pass, luck, the video is good
Не стареет душой старенький гольф. Любимый кузов.
cool, what was better golf or lexus is
Someone knows if you can turn off traction control in VCDS? i mean mine doesnt have a button and I want to turn it off when on track. some say just pull the ABS relay and ur good but i rather set it up in VCDS.
Ill have a look on OBD11 pretty sure you can on a mk7 but MK5 im not sure
u can do it on my Octavia vrs gen2 which is a basically a mk5 Golf gti with obd11. The traction control off button doesnt turn it off fully
Pulling the ABS relay sounds very scary too me.🤔
Obdeleven on the MK5 does turn off ESC for anyone wondering
@@DarkVarda Yeah lot of VW's are based on the MK5 or 6 GTI. But should it be under the ESC section if its there? cant remember it's been a while.
Dude throw those standard front brakes in the bin .. They are terrible, and with 330bhp levels uprated front brakes are a must. A much stiffer rear ARB will help with under steer too, plus the front diff as Misha mentioned. I love these cars I have an edition 30 myself. Enjoyed the vid, great to see a fellow owner on here. :-)
apparently they're on the limit at stage 1 power like below 300, so yeah stock brakes should be gone. everyone seems to vouch for anti lift kit which is another thing
@@Stallzyx absolutely the anti lift kit is a great mod, I really noticed the difference. Also consider alu lightweight lower front control arms when fitting the anti lift kit. Superpro do some great bits for our cars :-)
i ran stock brakes on my stock Mk5 and overheated them way too easily, upgraded to 8P S3 fronts with DBA racing pads and rotors and its insane now, just need the power to match lol
Isnt he on r32 brakes with the 345mm?
That thing sounds amazing brother. V Dubs boys worldwide 😎
hello tel us the whole mod list of this caritlooks very fast,,though
Witch DSG gearknob?😅💪🏽
Looking for new one
Little beast 👌
Hey misha would u be willing to drive my 2007 volvo s60 D5 chipped to 400nm and 225hp?
It looks fast ❕😲
Flush front swaybar , get a bigger rear swaybar, this car will pivot . Lsd is of course a must.
Lamborghini Style Doors?
@@olli91ducatinitro limited slip diff, but the doors are a good idea
😂
Lsd is always a must if you have the right type
Good video
Love the vid. Im listening to your advice & now thinking about installing an LSD on my car👌🏿🙂
Long live the Golf 5 Gti
The owner can change the rack to the Audi TT rack, bigger brakes, superpro adjustable ball joints, roll bars, and it'll be a well setup car.
Those OEM red calipers tho😂 still got 2 on my GTI
LSD a must I've got i20n with LSD amazing turn in
turn out, isnt it?
Car beautifuly taken care of , this man loves his golf .
And he shoud!
14:54 hey, why is there a concrete section on the road with reflectors on top. I am from asia, hence the curiosity.
It’s to slow traffic down. You’ll have to slow down incase of oncoming traffic.
To slow down traffic
Its to slow the Traffic down. Its near the Track and people used to drive very fast there before. There are some towns right around the Track
@@tysker9666 Thanks for the info.
I think the front is too low giving it roll centre issues.
With some more height at the front, the grip may be better.
I have run an Ibiza track car for years.... It definitely is faster when it's higher compared to low.
Would you ever consider a series where u buy a budget car do a few laps for a rough time estimate
Then do a budget build and see what it inproves
That would be very cool
Noone shows that they all have cars over 20k €
I wanna get into it but don't have that budget
I have a budget off 5k and would wanna spend about 5 to 7.5k to improve
Hope someone gonna do a series
A golf gti without ugly ass pops and bangs makes the car so much more mature
my GTI not ED30 with k04 have a 345cv with 95 octane 355 with 100 ;)
Gearbox doesn’t sound too happy!
Now i understand why my brake go smooth and sluggish sometimes
After Fuchsröhre owner stopped smiling 🤪
So is this an edition 30 or a GTI with an upgraded to K04???
must be a K04 swap or some sort of other turbo. It has had the rear bumper painted like edition 30 and also the r32/edition 30 lights but it's a normal MK5 from what he said
@@Stallzyx Pretty sure it's an edition 30 dude, has the kit, half leather seats and the edition 30 badge in red on the dashboard on the passenger side if you look at 2:56 unless he did all that himself too :P
Edition 30 because those seats were only available on ed30
Should be original, only the gearknob
I almost bought a gti tuned to 300hp and it was a fun car to test drive but it kept having reliability issues
That's the nature of mk5 golfs sadly
Yeah me too, good car but it is always in the garage
Sweet video. No manual?
330 hp and brake stock?
The most timeless design Golf Gti is always the Mark V.
Hey this car is rapid !
Over pressured tires, stock small front anti-roll bar that looks disconnected, no cage strengthening. Still nice lap!
About the moment out of foxhole, I don’t think it’s Abs. I get that aggressive oscillation around the limit of hard braking as well. No ABS and 6 piston Wilwoods.
I have ran through a lot of T8’s so I know their sounds alright. Curious what their pressures were or if they were checked. I run them low 22-23psi cold.
I'd love to see Misha taking a Mk4 Ford Focus ST for a lap, preferably an Edition or the new Track Pack!
Mk2 ST with the 5zylinder would be awesome too
I had MK2 Intake, cat back and tune. Now I have 2013 MK3, Cobb tune and filter. Next intercooler and E30 tune. Going to the Nürburgring in few weeks.
I hope you get a chance to do a lap with a VW polo 9n3 GTI, i have the same car but with the little 1.4 3 cylinder TDI but i'd love to see your reaction to that little pocket rocket
