Throughout this journey we've met some incredible friends, even if they were our enemies at first, even if they tried to kill us or capture us. In this final showdown, we reach to all of them for support.
But in the end, we try reaching for the soul who needs it the most.

In my opinion, this is one of the most triumphant and feelgood endings I've ever played in a game. There's perfect closure (putting aside not being able to save Asriel completely but I thought it was good how it twisted what the audience expected), you feel genuinely relieved and happy for the characters and it also leaves you quite emotional. This game hits every aspect to a tee. The comedy is on point from the start and never feels forced or unneeded, the gameplay is innovative and puts a massive twist on the RPG genre, the story is fantastic and way more layered than I thought it would be, and the characters are some of the most likeable and witty characters I've seen in a video game. Didn't have any expectations for this as I usually hate old-styled RPG's but this game absolutely floored me.

I'm not gonna lie, when I first saw that list of who I could save, I thought I had a choice to save only one of them, not all. I thought for like a good five minutes before I picked.

I can't help but be glad that Asgore did wait for each human to come along instead of doing what Toriel suggested. They were probably waiting centuries for all seven to finally fall. In the eyes of a ruler, waiting would have been foolish if they wanted freedom. However, humans wipe each other out all the time for even an imagined threat. If Asgore had gotten out, killed six humans and then broken the barrier freeing the monsters, humans would be given a reason to attack the monsters all over again.
To Be Fair He Would Be A Fucking God So They Wouldn’t Be Able To Do Shit About It, And You Know Asgore Is Pretty Nice I’d Like Him As A God

this game was so beautiful, i treated the characters like actual people and was rewarded for doing that with this glorious ending and experience. i don’t think i will ever do a genocide run, i could never kill my friends.

This fight blew my balls off. What an amazing final boss. I love how much it cribs from Giygas and yet how much it simultaneously flies in the face of Giygas. Both Asriel and Giygas have to be defeated by unconventional means, by hoping against hope and calling on the power of friendship against an impossibly strong cosmic horror. But they couldn't have been handled more differently.
Giygas is meant to make you feel hopeless, with a blood-red palette and terrifying music and visuals that spiral off the rails as the fight goes on. Asriel definitely taps into a bit of that after he transforms, but for the majority of the fight, he attacks you with dazzling bursts of color, accompanied by the most kick-ass, triumphant song in a game already full of kick-ass, triumphant songs. Every NPC that answers Paula's prayer in Earthbound only further amplifies the feeling of hopelessness, as Giygas's attacks get even stronger and Paula literally runs out of people to call on, desperately hoping for ANYONE to save them. But every friend you pull out of Asriel gives you an easier, more familiar attack pattern to deal with, and even fully heals you as a reward for visiting it one last time. Of course, the most important difference is that by this point in Undertale, we're so full of DETERMINATION that it's literally impossible to die. The fight with Giygas kicks you down and asks you to rise up to the challenge. The fight with Asriel lifts you higher and higher, tells you that yes, you really can do this, you really can save everyone... even the villain. Even as he resists with all he's got, and especially as the soundtrack shifts to a music box and marching drums, you're DETERMINED to save him... and you can. And you'll do it with a smile on your face and tears in your eyes. Because that's the thing...
Ness and his friends have to be saved.
Frisk has to do the saving.
"The friendly RPG where nobody has to die," indeed.

This game is so relatable because we've all been Frisk and/or Asriel at some point in life. There aren't any good guys, or bad guys in this game. Just sentient beings trying to make sense of their lives based on experiences, both positive and negative.
We're Frisk: Trying to save those who constantly push us away and persist by determination, and/or,
We're Asriel: Many bad life experiences took away our hope and replaced it with bitterness, apathy and cynicism.
This game is so profound.

I love how it's all sweet and lovely and friendly right up until Papyrus mentions the little flower...
Then suddenly boom.
I watched a whole pacifist playthrough with my boyfriend recently and my god i couldn’t stop crying when this song began to play. Hopes and dreams is definitely my favorite theme in the whole game.
There is so much love in every pixel of this game, it's still so amazing to me. What a masterpiece.

It kinda depends. If we're talking Japan, Touhou is ki- er, queen. It has a con or two to itself like Minecraft does. Here in the US however, it's not as widespread; however, Undertale is.
So it's a question of where you live. If you were to ask overall, it'd be tough, since Touhou is longer standing and has a larger audience, but the US is, well, center stage.

I just realised something. ASGORE WAS CRYING AT THE START WHEN ALL OF FRISK'S FRIENDS WERE ARRIVING. Damn.
I'm normally not the guy to repeat a comment I say in a video but damn this gets me every time so I make this an exception!
"Please... Just please... Can we get the creator months later to give us a DLC patch to add a Secret Finale Pacifist Ending where you not only save everyone, but *Asriel too??? I CAN PICTURE IT TOO PERFECTLY. The game ends, you're given a secret message like "there's one last thing that needs to be done. See if you can figure it out. Unless you know, you're perfectly fine the way things are".Then gives you an option to keep your old world, or start a new one, and when you pick Reset, you'll go back to the beginning of the game. Only THIS TIME when you do the Pacifist route, the battles will be more intense like the genocide route, Right until the very end when you finally reach out to Asriel, and won't stop at nothing until he finally comes with you, together forever with you and your friends. It can be triggered by finding secrets throughout the game you can't afford to miss.
To add to that, it'll will add to the strongest moral of all in Undertale history. I know starting over the game after that a ending like that would be the most difficult thing to do. To add to that, doing a pacifist route at genocide route like difficulty would get you so frustrated in the game, that you'll quit and not want to play it...... but that's the beauty of it! You'll RESET the game because you want to save everybody. You're happy with what you got, but the guilt of leaving one behind, especially to a character who didn't deserve it makes you want to go back and save him every time you look back. So you HAD to look back, you HAD to go back. Taking on the Pacifist rout at insane difficulties without giving up shows you'll do EVERYTHING IN YOUR HEART to make sure you'll save not only your friends, but Asriel with sheer willpower and hope until it finally happens! No matter what it takes! To make sure he does not go back to his old Flowey self! You'll be there for everyone! No one left behind! Asriel included! EVERYONE STICKS TOGETHER!

This final boss is one of the saddest. You don't want to fight him, but he transforms into a Sephiroth just so he can play with you.

Whether if its's in real life or something else, Frisk is such an inspiration to me. She reminds me that every problem has a solution, no matter how big the problem is. You never know, maybe you might end up saving people along the journey, and I don't mean by just saving their lives.

The line about maybe you can save something else then act turns to save which let's you save your friends with that absolutely amazing song playing will always get mr choked up. This fight will always be one of my favorite moments in fiction.
I love how when Undyne and Alphys are about to kiss, Asgore is just thinking to himself "What in God's name am i witnessing?!"
