When is the last time you heard a pop song with a sick mandolin riff and funk groove lol ? This song is awesome.

Y’all gotta look up the lyrics on Genius lyrics. Click on the description. They’re much, much more clever than you give them credit.

I agree other then the decent drum groove, unfortunately, nothing really jump out for me. Too teeny bopperish for me. 2.0.
I was going to recommend you boys listen to some Boston and somebody recently suggested Foreplay/Long Time. This song is fantastic. It's basically two song in one, so kinda long but every second is special for me. The song has prog elements but settles into a great Rock N Roll tune with a 70's vibe. I love everything about this song from the guitars, bass, organ and drums to the lead singer Brad Delp. Another thing that's special about Boston and this song is how they use harmonies with the guitars and vocals. The song and the self titled album is a 5.0 plus. I would also recommend reading about how Boston got started and the genius and founder of the band Tom Scholz, great story.

I asked this before, but, I gave the wrong description.. What is the HORIZONTAL, liquid filled(?), tube, on the shelf behind you? (It looks like it could be about a foot(?) wide.)

Honestly mind over matter would have been a better one to listen to. I like this song, but it isnt there most creative one.

Used to listen to a lot of indie and something poppy would come along every so often. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. Can't really say why. This one is not great. They sound a bit like Urban Cone. There's one song I liked, but the rest was insufferable. This is not as sugary, though. Briefly thought of Vampire Weekend. But again, I cannot really say why. This is how it is sometimes.

3.5, I love all these I guess you would call them indie rock bands that have been popping up over the last few years. Not my favorite song by these guys but it's nice and chill :D
    1. The Mars Volta - The Widow (prog rock)
    2. Steam Powered Giraffe - Automatonic Electronics Harmonics (steam punk musical comedy)
    3. Mandroid Echostar - The Sleeping (prog metal, Coheed and Cambria type vocalist)
    4. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Wet Sand (you already knows)
    5. Thomas Giles - Sleep Shake (solo project from vocalist of Between the Buried and Me)
    6. Closure In Moscow - Seeds Of Gold (prog rock)
    7. Arch Echo - Color Wheel (instrumental prog? a wow band like polyphia)
    8. Weezer - The Greastest Man That Ever Lived (a theme song for both of you :D)
    9. Death Cab For Cutie - Soul Meets Body (alt rock)
    10. JUSTICE - Fire (electronic duo)

How can you ignore The Hu Band this long? You have to put Hu on first, What on second, and I Don’t Know on third.

I think if you enjoyed It’s About Time better you should listen to the other songs on that album. I would recommend Paralysis, and Daydreamer. Or maybe either Something to Believe In or Silvertongue off of their ‘Home of the Strange’ album.

I appreciate a first listen reaction video that's a real, honest reaction! That said, I hear plenty of pop on the local 'modern rock/alternative' station, which really just means pop that's not rooted in hiphop (which accounts for all the other pop on the radio), and this song is by no means an average pop song. That's part of the reason it got heavy airplay for many months even though Young the Giant is hardly filling stadiums.

You guys would fucking love Rise Against. If you could check out the music video for Make It Stop (September’s Children) that would be really special for me because I know close friends of mine who have gone through the same kind of thing that song talks about. It’s about gay teens in high school being bullied to the point where some of them took their own life. You will only get the full experience of it if you watch the music video. It’s an extremely powerful song and needs to be taken in in that format. Thanks for reading if you do happen to read this comment. I just wanted to take the time.

I prefer this slightly more than you guys I guess, 3.2, its decent, but nothing really good
A band that's similar to this I enjoy quite a bit are Of Monsters and Men (I'm sure you've heard of them for the song Little Talks haha), they are an Indie Folk like band from Iceland, King and Lionheart is a good one

I like the song. It’s not revolutionary, but it’s definitely something I’d throw in the background and listen to. I’d rate it a 2.5.
I’d like to suggest you guys listen to a band called I The Mighty. Either their song The Lying Eyes of Miss Erray or The Streets Are Alive. They are a band that toured with Coheed and Cambria not too long ago. I think you guys would enjoy them

Nice analysis, I agree that this pop is pretty bland. For some great GREAT pop, check out “New Mistake” by Jellyfish for something lyrically clever, musically interesting, and just all out delightful. For reals!

Not bad. Nothing special. It gave me mental imagery of sci-fi space stuff, like someone stuck on a space station or something. Score 3.0 with the comfort in knowing that there are no rats, snakes, spiders, or bugs in space.
