The end of the MV specifically mentions "Der Anschluß Österreichs an das Deutsche Reich" im German myself so seeing references to related history is always interesting. Their songs feel like they are using the aspect of history to embellish on the emotional moments, comparing it to waiting for an execution here for example. The lead singer/ bassist is Yoshikatsu Shuto and he moved on to KEYTALK, different type of sound alltogether there. The drummer is Itta Nakamura and he moved to Berlin actually, records drums for other people and also iirc he has multiple projects, both tiny, one called GZHI and one called Novatron. This song and its references actually gave me a reasonable theory on why the guitarists solo band is called "österreich" (Austria). The lyricist/guitarist seems like a big history buff. Due to splitting of from the band, which as a whole would be equal to the german reich in ww2, he became just "österreich" again. apparently there was like 1 song released by him while the cabs were active but that is in so deep that you cant find it online. Also! Your first experiences with screaming vocals by the cabs! Its the guitarist specifically. The cinema staff song i recommended feature them too since he wrote it. I cant wait for you to react to some of the other songs that use it more heavily. in fact im gonna recommend one song i havent because it only features him as the vocals using scream/fry vocals: Sarasa by the cabs, its a short one (1 min 22) so idk if it would be better to react to it with one of the other short songs.
I think I was trying to find literal history references, instead of paying attention for subtle things like that 😅 My bad. They are all so skilled though, so it's a shame they aren't better known. Hopefully I end up getting into more songs then with those vocals. Loved them so much, as short as they were. I'll add Sarasa to the list! I'll see if I can find another similar song to do with it since it's so short! Thanks for commenting ♡
Your comment is very interesting ; I've always been very curious about Kunimitsu Takahashi's use of occasional historical references in his lyrics. I wonder what kind of symbolic it carries in the context of the songs. But his lyrics are so poetic and metaphorical that I've never found a way to properly decipher them. I also didn't know he wrote for Cinema Staff! But that makes sense, I found some glimpses of his writing style in some of their recent songs.
