As a fellow curly haired girl myself, I definitely think you have curls! And the cool thing about doing your hair this way is that will train your curls to form that shape the more consistently you do so even the curls in the back can look like the front with proper maintenance 😊 The curls look fabulous on you and I hope you stop getting sick 💜
We told you you had curly hair! 😂 You skipped most of the steps and still have great results so imagine how curly it's going to be if you keep doing it!
I always knew you had curls somewhere, because when you brush it, it gets really puffy. Usually that happens when you brush curls. Straight hair has a different texture, so when you brush it, it stays straight. I'm so happy for your new found curls, girl! You look amazing! ❤
These are definitely curls! Finding out about curly girl method was truly lifechanging to me, I only wish I knew sooner and didn't spend half of my youth hating my hair
As someone with pretty dang straight hair, I feel like naturally straight hair just doesn’t get frizzy (except maybe when it’s damaged). So I always suspect that people with frizzy and poofy ”straight” hair actually have curls/waves 👀 might be wrong tho
Straight hair can get frizzy sometimes but its usually just static electricity lol you can literally just rub a dryer sheet over it and it will calm right down. But truly straight hair is actually pretty most people have at least a little wave.
@@amandawilson890 yeah my hair gets super static if I don’t use conditioner😂 and I don’t feel like it looks quite the same as frizzy hair, but I also wouldn’t know since my hair doesn’t get frizzy🙈
yes that was me! as a kid i always described my hair as poofy and it just never sat right, my hair is completely different to my mums so she had no idea how to deal with it. it wasn't until 2020 during lockdown when i started letting my hair airdry i realised it was wavy and was actually able to work with it and try different products
Similar to my curls, the longer pieces get weighed down to be wavy, shorter curl. The bleaching will also destroy the curl pattern. I’m in the process of growing out my hair and cutting off anything processed. The top 7 inches are definitely curlier than the ends at this point
For me the top (crown area) refuses to curl no matter how much i scrunch and use activator with gel (i don't want to get oily roots tho since my hair gets oily easily). The back of my head also likes to straighten really fast. No matter if i have layers or not. Lost half of my hair due to covid and decided to grow most of my layers out in order to get some volume. Also been growing out my natural hair and cutting off bleached parts. I think i am already done with growing it fully out (maybe i have an inch or two left). Hard to tell because i dye my hair with henna and cannot really see the difference.
@@gohomo2384 yeah , mine is curlier when bleached too , manes by Mell has a great video called ‘ your hair texture changed? ‘ on explaining how bleaching can actually make hair curlier.
Curly girl here, you are definitely one of us! If you continue with curly hair styling and maintenance, you’ll get more and more curls as your hair adjusts to what you’re asking of it. If you want advice, I’d recommend Swavy Curly Courtney; she’s got a whole channel dedicated to curly hair maintenance and has great videos! Just try to not buy everything you’ll want all at once (unless you can afford to, then go ahead!). Small steps definitely add up over time! I’ve been hyper focused on my curls for the last six months or so and the difference it’s made has been truly incredible! Happy curly journey!! Edit: it’s also EXTREMELY common to have several different curl patterns on your head; I myself range from 2b to 3c, but I average 3b. It could be that the back of your head has a looser pattern, which is absolutely ok, but it might just be styling technique too. Even after quite a few months, I’m still learning! And that’s ok too, curls can change based on weather and so many factors, it’s always a little bit of a surprise even if I do things exactly the same way each time. Just embrace the chaos 😂
i’ve been following the cg method for more than 4 years now and most definitely it takes time for your hair to rinse off all junk and silicones and become evenly curly. btw it’s gonna curl more with time too
We have the same curl type! With long hair, my hair is so heavy that the curls start to fall out, but when I had a pixie cut and bob cut I had really defined curls. I really like the look on you!
As a curly girl myself, I'd say that you definitely have curly hair! Before my hair was dull, frizzy and dry but nowadays it's ringlets, waves and pretty shiny. I'm still on a mission to find the right products for me but it's def better than before! Btw in plopping you put the shirt down on smth, put your head upside down and gently lay your hair on it and tie it, so it stays in place. This way you get a lot more volume and the curls partly dry upside down for more bouncy curls. It's important to use enough product so you get the hard cast when you let it dry (don't touch it or anything while drying) and then break the cast with serum or oil while crunching the hair with fingers. Curly hair is the most dry and thirsty hair and a good leave-in conditioner is a must especially between washes. 😊
I’ve been commenting on your videos for years saying embrace your curls!!!!! I always notice you have them when you have wet hair in videos, it’s just learning how to style/dry them, it looks lovely!
My hair was very damaged when I started to do the curly hair routine and 2 years later I have proper ringlets in my hair. I definitely think your hair has the potential to be a lot curlier if you keep up this type of routine!!
Your hair has to be waaaayy wetter than that, also check out finger coiling, diffusing is also a good option and using a curl cream qnd a holding mouse instead of gel works really well for me ❤
I was thinking this, I was like "I'd love to get my hands on it and do it with products " definitely needs a curl cream and wet squish to condish, then oil when dry if she keeps doing it it will get better each time x I love curly hair on her ❤
@@lisasmith8484you are so right The first thing I said was her hair was almost dry.. I have to keep a towel on floor cause I'm standing in a flood it's so wet and dripping...... And I don't think she put enough product either.
@marcyoconnell2398 ditto ditto and I agree 😁 x but we can forgive her 1st time in a country that doesn't have the correct products, it turned out fab considering the head and shoulders etc, xx
I would consider these waves. They are almost exactly like mine. 2A and 2B waves. I find lighter weight products work the best and pro tip: dont touch them until they are completely dry and scrunch the product out with an oil!
I think you should try the plopping part with the t shirt over your hair, might amplify the results. When I sleep with my hair still a little bit damp is when my curls are the best
It doesn't have to be complicated, I just shampoo condition use a leave in conditioner and some mousse or style cream scrunch and leave it to dry, then add some oil x done!- just don't keep touching it or it goes frizzy😊
Yesss I have such a similar wave pattern! I know this sounds counterintuitive but a little tiny bit of oil can go a long way. It always makes my waves bust out. And it’ll be nothing but leave in conditioner and oil on my connnnnnsantly dyed hair and she’s happy
Wrapping your hair up will help the curl set, you can hit it with low speed cool heat on a hair dryer to help with drying. You could focus that on the back if you wanted since the front seemed to shape more easily.
Doesn't matter if people call them curls or waves, what matters is if you enjoy them. And people will offer advice on products but honestly just explore what works for you and your hair. Just remember that the smooth T-shirt type towels are gentler on curls and moisture/ hydrating products are your friend (conditioner, oils, leave in conditioner, etc). Enjoy your curly journey and don't feel pressured to do some major routine with expensive products. You will figure out what your hair likes and what you enjoy doing for your hair (just like bleaching and dying). ❤
your hair looks so awesome!! when i had my shag/ mullet aside from "scrunching" (that shows my age), st night, i would twist up into a top knot & it would set wave pattern so once down, it was mass wave form in the most flattering way..
I have the same haircut and I’m always asking myself “are these really curls? Or is my hair curling just because of the layers of the haircut?” You look amazing btw!❤
I'm not surprised! My hair looked a bit similar to yours before I tried the curly hair method. You have to find what products work best for you :) I tried curl defining creams, but basic gel seems to be the best for me, otherwise the curl doesn't really hold for multiple days. Also when I have short hair it curls way more than shoulder length, I chopped it all off to a pixie cut because I missed my curlssss 🥳🥳
I think head&shoulders isn´t good for the method buuuut what i think is more important for it is the gel, gel makes the hole difference and practice hahah
Wavy girl here as well. That looks very similar to my hair pattern. I have discovered that I need less heavy products usually. I just use a curl activator and a light gel. And my hair was absolutely fried when I started, it is a wavy beauty nowadays
Your arm tats are so sick, I freaking LOVE them so much 13:30 !!!!! You look so cuteeee!!! Those are curls hunny!!! Yesss!!! I love the color with the curls too❤ very cute
I’ve been a curly girl for years! Here are my tips: 1. Light weight products for wavy/curly hair. A sulfate free shampoo and conditioner that has protein in it to strengthen the hair and prevent breakage. A thicker curl cream can be thinned out with water (what I do) to not weigh down the hair. 2. Put your curl cream on in the shower when your hair is still wet and brush it through. Clip it up and let it sit before you start styling it to maintain the moisture. The more thoroughly wet your hair is, the easier it is to smooth product in it and style it. 3. Curl cream combed in, gel smoothed over with “praying hands method”, brush styling, then scrunching with a sea salt spray is GREAT for wavy/curly hair. 4. Diffuse your hair by targeting your roots first and then your kids and ends. Loved your results! Curls suit you 😊
Girl, don’t let the curly girl community tell you those aren’t curls. Cuz we all know how some of em try to gate keep it. You’ve got curls! And they’re beautiful!
I noticed this. I had to cut all of my hair off due to bleach and ever since I’ve been so good to my hair and her hair has out grown my like months ago
It looks great! I recommend curl smith products! They are the best! I have fine wavy hair and use the curl smith weightless air dry cream, it’s basically a leave in conditioner.
Looks beautiful 🥰 I've been following your hair journey for a long time and I have to say this is my favourite style for you! I would call this wavy (my hair is naturally like this, also more so when it's layered or short and goes straight when it's long and unlayered) I think you should keep this style 😍
fellow wavy girl! We have similar texture so I’ll tell you that we don’t really need to use only “curly girl method” approved products! Lightweight products are your best friend! I look for ingredients like squalene, panthenol, and argon oil because their hydrating and lightweight. Avoid things like shea and castor oil - they’ll make your hair too heavy and leave it greasy and limp. Gel is also your best friend! Use it on soaked hair to avoid stringy looking waves. But don’t feel pressured to stick to a method if it’s too much work, a lot of times I just round brush my hair because it takes so long to diffuse or air dry curly, it’s your hair so wear it however you like!
omg I have wavy hair and your result at the end is like my dream hair. The texture, shape, it's perfect. There's so much volume. I can get my hair like that but I have to style it. I do have shaggy layers but my hair is like twice as long as yours, and very fine so it gets weighed down probably. I also don't take care of it well ngl. I usually brush my hair out cause I like the way it looks.
I can't believe that after putting shampoo on your ends, conditioner on your scalp and basically using all wrong products your hair end up this fabulous
I definitely recommend to ignore the no/low poo part, and just focus on finding the right products for you, the more moisturizer the products are, more you curl pattern will show up. I cannot offer advice to specific products bc I'm from Brazil and what we have here is a lot better than in most countries. But after shampooing you hair should feel too dry, more moisturizing shampoos works the best, and conditioners that have a good concentration of blends of oils will be the best for you damaged hair (i literally have my hair as fried as yours and it always helps to keep my curls nice). Argan and coconut oil based products are so far my favorites they do the best for my hair.
This looks lovely on you! I have a similar hair structure to you I would say and I never really thought this would work on me either… if you keep doing it and brushing the hair less and less the curls will probably intensify! Love From Germany ❤
Wow😍love your curly hair! 😍😍I think you did it very well👏 I have same - ish hair, but I just never can get it to hold the curl for longer then a day- with or without gel
A couple of tips that helped me. Put the gel/cream in when your hair is still saturated, upside-down, then wrap it in a towel or a tshirt and flip your head back up. Let it dry til its damp and then take it out, and do not touch it at all until its dry. It takes a while but it helps the curls retain their shape.
If its not wet enough, the curls separate and are less defined and more frizzy. You want them to air dry 'set' in the curl pattern so that when you scrunch it when its dry, it keeps its shape :)
Love your curls! Your hair looks awesome. I learned recently it is normal for hair texture to change sometimes as life goes on. I had the straightest hair you could have, I didn't even use products in it in my late 20s, then it started getting wavy around 30, and now I have wavy curls like yours. I never tried the curly girl method though what I do is pretty much what you just did (currently using function of beauty shampoo & conditioner for wavy hair & a strong gel cream). I put in product & always air dry. I have super thick hair, even when it's above the chin it's a pain, I use a wide de-tangle comb after I put conditioner in.
I don't have curly hair but I follow some curly girls on here and Instagram, from what I know : Wash your hair with gentle shampoo Apply detangler like you did in the shower When it's still wet, you can apply a cream leave-in and then a gel (but there are products made for curly hair, not "fixing" gel like you used, but works the same) There's also the "bowl method" to apply these products, you can research it if you want And then, put your head upside down and cover your hair with a cotton t-shirt (plopping) and after a while, you can blow dry it with a diffuser! Hope that help, sorry if my English is a bit broken 😅
I'm loving how your hair turned out! If you got the back of your hair layered a bit, those curls will come out more. You've been away from home for a while. Are you going back anytime soon? Hope you don't get sick anymore. Love your videos!❤
Your hair sits somewhere between 2b and 2c (i have the same type of hair), some days it's curlier, some days is wavier, i've been doing this method for over 3 years and if you make it a habbit you will see that when you bleach your new grown hair it will be completely different, healthier, shinier. Ever since I stopped using sulfated products and silicones my hair grows super strong no matter the bleach. Also I use a conditioner instead of any kind of low poo (co-wash) and only once every like 2 months do a deep cleaning with some sort of shampoo
I think when you’re back in your place, you should try it again! With different products. You’re giving 70’s, 80’s rockstar! Love it.

This looks lovely on you! I have a similar hair structure to you I would say and I never really thought this would work on me either… if you keep doing it and brushing the hair less and less the curls will probably intensify! Love From Germany ❤
Wow😍love your curly hair! 😍😍I think you did it very well👏
I have same - ish hair, but I just never can get it to hold the curl for longer then a day- with or without gel
You can have combination hair as well, but you definitely have curls! Welcome to the club!🌪️🌪️🌪️
I myself have super curly hair I would count those as curls for sure. Looks good very cute !
What the heck it looks SO good!!!!!!
I like it! It looks healthy like that too! No heat styling does help heal your hair so I always let mine air dry too! 👍🥰
If you can wash it upside down thats good too, cause it keeps the body at the top, instead of weighing the hair down.
They look so cute!
Lindy should try different types of routine for wavy/curly hair
You looks amazing with that haistyle, curly / wavy hair suits you
Ur hair looks so beautiful 🥰
Aaaaah I’ve been waiting for you to do this!!! It looks great 😊
I don't have curly hair but I follow some curly girls on here and Instagram, from what I know :
Wash your hair with gentle shampoo
Apply detangler like you did in the shower
When it's still wet, you can apply a cream leave-in and then a gel (but there are products made for curly hair, not "fixing" gel like you used, but works the same)
There's also the "bowl method" to apply these products, you can research it if you want
And then, put your head upside down and cover your hair with a cotton t-shirt (plopping) and after a while, you can blow dry it with a diffuser!
Hope that help, sorry if my English is a bit broken 😅
It looks SO GOOD 👍 I want to try this now...
Looks so pretty x
I'm loving how your hair turned out! If you got the back of your hair layered a bit, those curls will come out more. You've been away from home for a while. Are you going back anytime soon? Hope you don't get sick anymore. Love your videos!❤
Girl you HAVE to try the bowl method!! Your curls looks incredible here and I feel like the bowl method would work sooooo well for you! 🫶
I think it looks beautiful!!!!!
Lindy you just keep getting more and more beautiful 😊x
It looks so good!!!
It looks so good ❤
Heyyy (: next time maybe use a diffuser w/ the cold setting on a hair dryer? Help speed up the drying time, & form more secure curls. ❤
I love when you post it makes my day 😭😭
the curly hair look sooooo great on you!! will you keep them?
You look gorgeous with those curls
