I own 3 of the 780P I use them 2 days a week to install facial and shingles on sheds that I build I purchased them in January of 2021 and they have hundreds of days of full duty use. I feel they are more sable than A fame ladders because you only have 2 points of contact at he ground and it's easier to deal with uneven ground. Some of my build site are not really ladder friendly. Additionally they trump traditional extension ladders is you can extend every other rung and extend it only partially to get under low eves or other challenging overhead obstacles.
Regarding them getting hung up on extension or collapsing, when you apply uneven pressure they will bind. It's simple physics. Mine are so abused that the tubes are pretty scuffed up from roofing shingles that I have to basically unlock each sade a couple times and coax it to start collapsing. And sometime I have to work it a little to extend. But it never lets me down. I only keep one of these on my truck full time and it never lets me down. It replaced 3 extension ladders and an extendable aluminum scaffold. Using just this ladder and being light and fast with it has cut out so much time on a daily basis. Not to mention storage on the truck is so much easier to deal with.
I'm a one man show and the scope of work is on day shed builds from kits. 2 kits and all my tools in my truck. I need to be light and fast in every way to maximise the money I can make in the shortest time possible. having this ladder incorporated into my system is one reason I can work 2 days a week instead of 3 or 4. I save so much time unpacking, moving about during the day, and packing up at the end with this ladder and other smart solutions. I could not do 2 full builds in 2 days without all of the hacks and this ladder is worth it's weight in gold to me.
P.S. I hate both my little giants after buying these extend n climb ladders. And I tried the cheap knock offs first and almost died.

When collapsing the ladder, any reason to just not walk it down and then collapse it when it's horizontal on the ground?

Without gravity aiding the process, you'd need someone to help you. 2 hands to hold the release levers on a given rung, and another 2 hands to collapse that particular section. IMO, it would be fairly cumbersome to perform it that way.
