Hi. Is project administrator the same as a project support assistant. I've been invited for an interview for the role of a project support assistant, what advice can you give me?
Hi Pitol! I really like your videos, you're offering really valuable information for those who are interested in being a PM. I have a question, If a person do a course or gets the PMP is this person able to work in any industry? Does the company that is interested in hiring you gives you a training? Thanks a lot! ;)
Hey thank you ! Yeah so PMP is just a cert that shows that you have a good understanding and experience of project management. So like it should be recognised in most industries, but it doesn’t guarantee you’ll get a role. Each company is different: and you’ll need to show them that you have the skills as a PM not just a certification. Also will companies train you. Not necessarily. Like being a project manager is not entry level, you will be expected to hit the ground running. You’re unlikely to get training unless you’re in a trainee role, or you’ve asked for training specifically. In terms of formal certs. Once again , it depends on the company. If you make it a term of your contract, you are more likely to get your company to sponsor your certification
Hey nope. You don’t need to be, you can apply for an entry level project administrator role. As along as you can show that you can do the role, you’re all good
Hi! So my current role is a client relations manager, and I’m looking to break into the PM field. Would you suggest I apply as a coordinator or as an assistant project manager?
Girl you better apply for them all. The key is to get in, and it is super competitive right now. It may not be easy. Those two roles are very very similar so either is cool. I think Asians project manager is probs slightly better
Hi.. I was watching all your videos it was very useful. I finished my masters in project management with agile practitioner certification. I am applying for all the entry level roles but everywhere it is getting rejected many are asking for prior relevant experience even if it is a entry level. Can you please help me in guiding on this.
Hey there sorry your having trouble, it is a tough market atm: I would say, they to look for opportunities to delivery projects around you or in uni; even if it’s not formal, it’s good to demonstrate that you have. the skills to be a pm. Also apply for graduate roles: it’s the best way to get in. Also make sure your cv is up to scratch , I have a cv tips video out that you can look at also
I have a question. I just received my scrum master certification does this apply to PM jobs also I’m trying to get my foot in the door with no experience.
Hey there. So scrum is a type of agile delivery, so yes and no. Some projects use scrum but not all. That being said the theory of agile is used across most projects these days, so I say apply far and wide: at the end of the day you’ll need more than the cert to get the role anyways: you need to be able to demonstrate that you have the necessary attributes in you to get the job done :)
What are these 9 areas you speak of ? And to specialise just means you’re a subject matter expect in that area: so you start with one project in that area, and keep working on projects in that area
Hey! I have 4 months experience in an entry level role (still there) and currently doing my PRINCE2. What’s the probability of me getting an APM role elsewhere? Do you think I need to wait a few more months? I also have a related degree
Hiya! There is no hard rule here. Really depends on how much actually project experience you are getting and whether you can prove that you can do the role of a pm with the skills and knowledge you have developed . If you think so then go for a full PM role! Some people need more time to get experience under their belt. Some don’t. I think the degree doesn’t matter as much if I’m honest: they care about what you can do, not what you can read
Another great video 🙂 can I ask how long we should stay in an entry level role before applying for a pm role? I'm applying for entry level roles now but curious lol x
Hey hun ! Thank you… so tbh it depends on how much actual real project experience you are getting in the role. But if you are Getting experience and you are able to get more hands on expertise within that role, for me it would be one year and I’ll start looking at junior pm roles. Or assistant pm roles . But tbh no harm in looking earlier
Freelancing isn't too common for entry level roles. If that's the path that you're interested in, gain experience in one of these roles that Pitol mentioned, then you'll be a highly sought after asset. Especially if you specialize in something like scheduling.
Hey!!! One is coming 😭 bare with me, if I’m honest I’ve just spent most of my money on enjoyment this year. My house is very empty lol . And thank you 🤗
Not always. I’ve seen and helped people get roles with minimal experience. You need to make sure you are seeking the right kind of roles . And also, just because they ask for it on paper doesnt mean that’s what they are gonna get: If you can tick off the other bullets on the job spec and communicate that well on your cv you can defo be in with a shot. I think that’s what most people find difficult to do
@@pitolinmotion I think that's what I have been finding to be the most difficult thing. I have transferable skills but I am not communicating that effectively. Also in the US(probably the same in the UK?), they have had so many layoffs that the pool of candidates even looking for entry-level roles has increased. And some of these people have years of PM titular work.
Ahh yeah tbf all of those things are contributing factors. Pm is very competitive atm and in the US certification is kinda really important. I suggest you defo do cert to help you stand out
@@pitolinmotion yes! Thank you I’m currently working on getting the CAPM and I have my agile certs for CSPO and CSM so I’m glad to hear you think I’m going in the right direction. Also I appreciate that you are responding! It’s helpful!
Lovely video as always. Thank you so much for all your wonderful content. Your page came to me when I thought about making a switch into tech positions, I’m currently about to start the process of fully committing to doing project management after doing a ton of free courses. But I wanted to confirm because I wasn’t sure which one to go for first. I’m torn between getting a capm or agile scrum certification, which do you think or would you advise I get first? Thank you ❤️
Hey! Thank you! I don’t actually give advise on which to take. It really depends on your career goals and the type of projects you’ll be delivering. Check out my video on things to consider when picking a course. Hopefully that will better inform you x
Hey. I haven’t really got any advice on this from a regional perspective. Like I’m not versed on how to switch roles in different countries . But if you wonna become a project manager , from being a project coordinator in general. Defo try ask for larger work packages and deliver. Then go for promotion.
Hey so a junior pm is just a pm but in a junior level. Some organisations actually make the differentiation between a project manager and a junior project manager. But in many organisations this differentiation is not made and instead people are working in project management roles at a junior level without actually being called ‘Junior project manager’ so really it’s just the same as a project manager, but mainly working on lower scale and cost projects. I wouldn’t call it. An entry-level project management role because a junior project manager is responsible/accountable for enter into delivery of the project, whereas these entry-level rolls or not..
Hello, you beautiful Black Woman. It's funny that you spoke on the PM roles. I am Sr. Level Quality Engineer at a large Aerospace company, I am looking to change careers and I have a meeting with one of the Program Manager 3 at my company to discuss the role and what I need to make the change. The way I see it Quality deals at a 100-foot view, systems engineering see it from a 1000 foot view, but PM see it from a 10,000 foot view. I have the technical, but I don't have it in PM. I enjoyed your video. I will surely be subscribing. Do you do one on ones?

@@pitolinmotion thanks you so much! You've been very helpful!! Keep doing this great videos!
Hi Ire, please do I need to be a graduate before applying for training in project administrator
@@pitolinmotion thank you!!!
PM has 9 areas. How we can get specialization in just one Area and get job in that?
@@pitolinmotion ahhh makes complete sense.. thank you very much Lovely for the reply x
Elizabeth, if you dont mind me asking, where are you finding and applying to entry level PM roles? I've looked on Indeed, Zip Recruiter and no luck.
Which of these is suitable for freelancing plssssssd
Freelancing isn't too common for entry level roles. If that's the path that you're interested in, gain experience in one of these roles that Pitol mentioned, then you'll be a highly sought after asset. Especially if you specialize in something like scheduling.
@@twiWright25 thank you so much for this insight and giving me clarity on this subject
Totally agree with that. Free lancing roles are usually for people will experience. It’s like contracting . You can look but probs won’t see a lot
This is quite helpful. Thank You ❤
Thank you!
You bought a house but didnt do any renovation uupdates. Luv your videos
Hey!!! One is coming 😭 bare with me, if I’m honest I’ve just spent most of my money on enjoyment this year. My house is very empty lol . And thank you 🤗
@@pitolinmotion okay cool. Sorry, deffo no pressure take your time and im subbed so when you post im here even if it takes you another year lol
Sad thing they still keep requesting project management experience of 5 years even for these roles
What are the highest paid PM industries?
Hey, you may have to google it, however, off the top of my head, I would say, engineering, construction, IT, and maybe financial services
Thank you Ire,, Please what is the best way to transform as a Pcordinator(Nigeria) to a PM Uk . Please kindly suggest
Hey. I haven’t really got any advice on this from a regional perspective. Like I’m not versed on how to switch roles in different countries . But if you wonna become a project manager , from being a project coordinator in general. Defo try ask for larger work packages and deliver. Then go for promotion.
@@pitolinmotion OK . Thnx
Wat abt Junior Project Manager role??
Can you please tell abt this role
Hey so a junior pm is just a pm but in a junior level. Some organisations actually make the differentiation between a project manager and a junior project manager. But in many organisations this differentiation is not made and instead people are working in project management roles at a junior level without actually being called ‘Junior project manager’ so really it’s just the same as a project manager, but mainly working on lower scale and cost projects. I wouldn’t call it. An entry-level project management role because a junior project manager is responsible/accountable for enter into delivery of the project, whereas these entry-level rolls or not..
@@pitolinmotion Thankyou so much.. 👍
Pitol i never knew there was calculations in project management🥲 please could you do a video about the 10 knowledge area of project management?
Hey sis! Haha what do you mean about calculations? You mean like levels to project management ? And when you say knowledge areas what do you mean ? x
Hey there, and thanks for subscribing, nice that you want to transition into the crazy world of project management 🎉 and yes I do 1-2-1 consulting sessions however they are on hold until February. If you would like one though, I’m happy to make an exception. Send me an email to pitolinmotionsocial@gmail.com with exactly what you’d like to get out of the session. And I can send you more details on the services I offer.
Just found your page and it has been wonderful. Are you on LinkedIn or IG?
Amazing! Thanks for watching. I have IG @pitolinmotion
@@pitolinmotion done.
Hi Pitol, thanks for this very informative video. I love your videos. I’ve been applying for PM roles for a while now but I’ve been unsuccessful. Do you advise I use the same Cv to apply for these other roles?
Hey thanks so much : well it depends, but assuming your applying for the same industry, the content in your cv should probs translate to all these roles. - so yeah why not :)
