It’s also non feminine. Yes I know that is an old fashioned ideal, but still it’s assumed that women are neat and clean their places well. As is excited talking, and a whole host of other ADHD flaws. It’s something I can consciously challenge and reframe, so as to feel mentally better. But the shame and self disappointment is pervasive, maybe automatic. Or at least, it’s unconscious the feelings of shame and anger etc.
You might consider speaking to your prescribing provider about adjusting either the medication or the dosage to see if there is a better option to help support you.
Hi! You might have missed it, but the title of this podcast is MissUnderstood because it is focused on women with ADHD who are significantly under diagnosed when compared to men. www.understood.org/en/research-and-surveys/understood-women-adhd-study-2024
Hi! This podcast is named "MissUnderstood" because it focuses on women with ADHD who are significantly under diagnosed and misdiagnosed when it comes to ADHD. That's the reason why Dr. J focuses on discussing how shame and ADHD impact women in this episode. 😉
@@UnderstoodOrgSorry if my comment sounded abrupt it wasn't meant to be. I do get your points and thanks for putting me in my place 😉! As a man with ADHD I can honestly say on behalf of many, about 50% in fact, that men are very much under diagnosed too and there's a lot of shame involved. Where we may differ is the coping mechanisms employed throughout a life which has been mostly undiagnosed until relatively recently. I hope that makes sense. It's all still pretty new to me despite my years. Thanks for the enlightening video. Regards T
Thank you Dr J I look forward to your videos every time!! So insightful.

Are you currently working with a therapist?
And men?
