Thank you immensely Moderator, for these revelations, I walked passes my brothers and sisters on American streets without knowing who they are. I'm impressed. Great work. Bro!!
I’m impressed bro. So proud of these talented Nigerians. Nigeria would have been a great country if only we have the opportunity and good leadership. Anyway you’ve got a subscriber.
You have a wrong mindset. Nigeria is a DEVELOPING country. It takes many decades to build up a country. In most cases centuries. Especially countries like Nigeria that only got freed from colonial looting and subjugation in the 1960s.
@@african-history-fountain Nigeria has never been freed from colonial looting and subjugation. The only thing keeping Nigeria going strong is the powerful culture of traditional rulers...the west can not crack it and they learned to live with it.
You are WRONG. Nigeria at independence in 1960 had near ZERO infrastructure, no universities, no power stations, no industries worthy of the name, and a literacy rate of 7% after 70 years of British rule. In 60 years of independence Nigeria has built thousands of public schools and lifted literacy rate to 75% despite quadrupling her population since independence, has built over 300 universities, now has major industries from vehicle manufacturing (including heavy duty vehicles) to chemicals, has massively improved infrastructure, built a brand new capital from scratch which is one the world’s most beautiful cities, Abuja, and is Africa’s tech startup capital. She also has the world’s 2nd largest film industry after Hollywood, and is a world music powerhouse with the rise of Afrobeats. So you cannot claim that Nigeria is still experiencing colonial looting on the scale of what transpired during British colonialism. Never.
You ask yourself how their ancestors got there! It was in chains. They show the protecting power of our ancestors. These people are an inspiration to Africa.
These guys didn’t go in chains. Their parents Japa’d. That’s why they still have their native names. The black Americans are the ones that got there in chains. There is a difference
I can’t believe you forgot Cynthia Erivo. The most acclaimed black actress currently who is in the new movie WICKED. She has a superb voice! I’m so very proud and happy to see this extraordinary list of exceptional black actors but I’m not losing any sleep over you not mentioning her. She has said some very disparaging things against African Americans. However she should have been mentioned or maybe I missed you mentioning her.
Thanks! But please amend the title. Most of the actors mentioned here are actually Nigerian-British, NOT American. They emigrated from UK to America because they could not get acting roles in the UK. Chiwetel, John Boyega, David Oyelowo, Sophie Okonedo etc all speak with British accents. The fact that they can do the American accent so, so brilliantly that they get roles even ahead of their American counterparts testifies to their skill and versatility, as well as their brilliant training in the UK. Sadly, it also attests to the limitations placed on skilled black actors in the UK compared to America.
There have been protests by some prominent African-American actors against the use of some British-Nigerians in roles they feel should have been reserved for African-Americans in Hollywood. There was a campaign by some African-American group to raise the awareness of other African-Americans about the infiltrations of other groups of actors from Britain and there were calls for the boycotts of the movies they acted in. Rotimi who is Nigerian-American acted in "Power" alongside 50 Cent though, so, he wasn't discriminated against.

My bad... I meant to indicate in my post BELOW that 1 in 4 African-American MEN have a direct White male ancestor from Europe... That's about 25% of African-American MEN based on DNA tests done. So, 75% of African-American MEN can however trace their direct paternal lineage to Africa via those DNA tests. There are African-American men that I have seen in videos who have dark-brown skins like Africans in West Africa BUT it turned out their paternal lineages were from Europe (North Europe or the Iberian Peninsula which is Spain and Portugal). On the other hand MOST African-American WOMEN have a higher ancestral link to Africa with over 90% direct maternal ancestral links to Africa (mRNA). Most African-Americans, Jamaicans, Barbadians, etc, will test for multiple ethnic roots from different regions of Africa as of today due to the intermarriages of the original African ethnicities over the last 100 years in the Americas. I hope this helps to clarify my earlier post BELOW.

What sort of HIGHLY MISLEADING video is this RUclipsr spewing out here? A lot of the actors of Nigerian descent who have acted in Hollywood movies are actually British-Nigerian guys (born and raised in the United Kingdom by Nigerian or partly Nigerian parentage) so these aren't Nigerian-Americans. Forest Whitaker took a DNA test I think with AfricanAncestry and part of his roots was traced to Southern Nigeria based off of the DNA samples in their database some years ago. Forest Whitaker also has ancestry in other African countries. The reality is that MOST African-Americans are MIXED up ethnically in different proportions and have multiple roots in different parts of Africa (and even Europe because 1 out of every 4 African-Americans has a direct White male ancestor due to the forced sexual relationships that happened to African women on the plantations) based on the migrations from the rural Deep South of the United States to the big cities in search of a better life starting from a little over 100 years ago. Intermarriages too have taken place thereby further diluting the formerly PURE ethnic ancestries of many of them that existed over 100 years ago. This is why ancestral DNA testings with 23andMe and AncestryDNA, many African-Americans turn out having roots in West African countries such a as Nigeria/Benin/Togo/Ghana/Ivory Coast/Mali/Senegal regional classifications, Central African countries such a as Cameroon, Congo and Angola, and even Madagascar where about 2% of enslaved African folks were shipped from into the United States. There are several videos that show these DNA result online from the African-American, Jamaican, Haitian, Dominican communities, etc.
