He has a great personality. Diana is closed up. Speaks and looks and nobody. He really has something to give it shows. Looks at every performer, engages. What a guy to be working in entertainent. He has all the Right Traits.
Hell naw shows you the difference in skill and talent and actually singers.... Michael and Diana hit every note perfectly and in key and clear the first time.. everyone one else was trash
even professional singers make mistakes. this goes to show that no one is perfect. that's why they rehearsed so many times. they did do a good job during the final recording though.
@anthonygeurtsen7143 I would definitely do better than that. He was definitely drunk or something. C'mon 1 line and he couldn't get it after all those tries. The other singers even saw how he was messing up again and again. No one else had that much trouble.
I swear, she had me.on da flo. As she stayed trying to bring her style and funk into it. I ain't mad at her tho......I have to look and see if she still has the same style she had back then.
Michael was so under rated, people talk about what a great dancer he was, but nobody gives him any credit for the vast amount of vocal styles he was capable of, and also just his talent as a singer. Even as a child he was a great singer. Listen to the passion and understanding he had, even as a kid in some of those songs, it's hard to even believe. At the same time he was dancing though and that's all people paid attention to. By the time they record this, he was such a professional that yeah, every take was perfect. A one of a kind performer the world will never see again.
@@DiegoRamirez-zc7fs exactly. He's not friggin 3'6. He's not so short that he needs a stool to stand on. Heck Billy Joel is only a couple inches taller than him. Cindi lauper is 5'3, no one brought her a stool.
I love the bridge part, Michael's chorus was already recorded earlier, but he sings the first part of the bridge... they do three takes, and every time his part is perfect so they start just playing a recording of one of those takes while Huey/Cyndi/Daryl Hall try to get their part right.
Keep in mind this was something that was done late at night after an awards show as I recall. To have this collection of true legends in one room at one time...never before and never again. Huey is so underrated as a vocalist. So sad that he had his gift taken from him. I got to see him during the Couple Days Off tour and he was awesome!
in 2023 each one of them would be in a studio for a whole day. it didn't work like this in 1985. Glad it doesn't sound as overproduced and boring as it would today. love the result!
As time went on, the artists relaxed and got comfortable and began to put their own personalities and styles into their parts. I can hear the song getting better and better as the rehearsal goes on, with people adding their own flavor and nuances. 😀
Song: We are the World Lyrics = ….We can't go on Pretending day-by-day That someone, somewhere soon make a change We're all a part of God's great big family And the truth, you know, love is all we need. As God has shown us by turning stones to bread. 👆 We're saving our 👉own lives… 👉Jesus didn’t turn stone to bread - he refused to turn stone to bread. Mathew 4:3,4 = The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the 👉Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall 👉not live on bread alone, but on 👉every 👉word that comes from the 👉mouth of God.
This was the first and only meeting they had to record together. It wasnt going to be perfect. They're all just people. I think seeing their imperfections as they all work together made it even better especially because of what they're all there for
What chaotic? They laugh they smile and you say chaotic? This would never happen again, total number of artists in a studio because nowadays there is full of hate and conflicts
Chaotic? These singers are 1000 times better then the ones today these singers knew the true meaning of music and they used it for love Not hate something the artist nowadays need to understand
Nothing chaotic at all here. A lot of improvisation and banter. This is exactly how recording could be/used to be in some instances. Freedom of expression from the individual artists with a skeleton lyric/melody to guide them. Absolutely fantastic insight into the process of assembling this track.
This is amazing watching these people put their ego's in back for a greater cause damn shame that the Haiti version was just a show of names and lack of unity
Steve Perry’s voice is unique
Absolutely right 😊.
Yessss
It's dope
absolutely true❤❤❤,i love Steve Perry so much😘😘😘
I love his voice
Diana was always on point. Fabulous
Unfortunately some of them are not here anymore, but their voices will be saved in our hearts.
Perfection
MJ being an absolute legend. He f**ing nails it every time
Perfect pitch every single time.
His part was recorded before.
He had his part recorded before they arrived. You can find it on YT as well, epic.
@@kingstonvaliu 17:04 i think your wrong
Diana Ross was 100% professional and lived through the moments with all of her feelings
Seems like they have high respect for Steve Perry’s voice. Dionne loved Bruce’s. Great to see all the mutual respect.
Yep I noticed when Bruce Springsteen sung his part dionne lit up
I love just how casually Steve walked to the mic and delivered every single time with so much ease and passion. Truly amazing.
I have never been a Bruce fan, but he nails it on this song. Sings with heart and feelings.
He sure did........I had to literally ask someone what his name was because he was so into it. His dynamics alone, added something to the song.
Look at the way Dionne Warwick looks at Bruce at 4:55. She is admiring his efforts.
He has a great personality. Diana is closed up. Speaks and looks and nobody. He really has something to give it shows. Looks at every performer, engages. What a guy to be working in entertainent. He has all the

Love Bruce Springsteen. Been a fan since I was 16, when I first heard "Dancing in the dark".
Absolutely agree
Fucking steve perry god damn his voice.
Right?❤
One of the greatest voices in pop music, period.
Thank you, Lionel, for bringing this ever relevant song together. Such patience and professionalism.
*Michael and Lionel
Micheal was flawless every single time
His parts were recorded hours earlier
@@jorgealves8319 não, o Michael teve que refazer, não teve parte gravada, eles cantava na hora e tudo foi gravado na hora ali

Same for Diana Ross
Kenny Loggins nailed it every time.
Dionne Warwick has an incredible voice!
Daryl was nervous. Al is hot mess. James messing up cracked me up . Bruce , Steve got me in heart
Only and only Diana Ross sings it perfectly each single time. And of Michael doesn't even need mentions ❤❤
Opino lo mismo. Es absolutamente perfecta
Bruce and Diana hit it every time!!
Teaching everyone is the key' steve perry best qualifications.
Tina Turner and Steve perry are the best
I watched it on Netflix and it was beautiful. You can appreciate every talent in the studio!
THAT....was excrutiating. But it just goes to show how singing and putting down a complete track, are entirely two different animals.
Al Jarreau 😬😬😬😬😬😬
@@Sircade For real lol

not Tina Turner she is perfect
Diana was perfect each and every time.
AL Jureau must have been drunk. He just couldn't get it. I mean it's only one line...lol
I felt embarassed for him 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, he's too unsure. What a shame!
Right this was at 230 in the morning, after 4 hours of rehearsing. Would love to see how you would do even after 1 hour.

So, you obviously haven't seen the documentary of the making of the song.....where literally almost everyone sounds horrible during the rehearsal.
I'm obsessed with Cindy Lauper vocal wow👌
Steve Perry and Michael Jackson
Her vocal was horrible though lol
I swear, she had me.on da flo. As she stayed trying to bring her style and funk into it. I ain't mad at her tho......I have to look and see if she still has the same style she had back then.

MJ is a truly amazing performance
Steves so cool. Complimenting Cyndi during the takes. While Hall is looking frustrated.
I love all the different timbres and tones!!! 😍😍😍 I’d love to have been a fly on the wall in that room. ❤️❤️❤️

Al Jureau living in the moment! I'll be high too with all the talents in that room.
Miss Diana Ross has the voice of an angel. The Greatest Night in Pop Music is an understatement.
Steve Perry... 40 take tutte perfette
Pure Stevie Wonder.
Trovo la voce di Kim Carnes molto sensuale......
