    A big reason why Barky is so liked and respected in Finland is his humility. That's quite huge in Finland especially when it comes to our athletes and this dude definitely doesn't let the success get in his head and fully considers himself as a part of his team and doesn't care much about the individual accolades. A good example of this is how he had 2 goals in a game against the Devils this season, the Devils pulled their goalie, Barkov got the puck up the ice in a 2 on 1 rush with Huberdeau and he PASSED the puck to Huberdeau like "Nah, I'm good." Huberdeau then of course immediately passed the puck back to Barky and pointed at the goal "Shoot it!" but unfortunately it was too late and the buzzer went signaling the end of the game. Barkov wasn't bothered much by this since his team had won.

    Barkov is absolutely fantastic. Watched a ton of Florida games this year as a devils fan due to our dogfight towards the end of the season and he was the best player on the ice in nearly every game I watched. He reminds me a lot of his old linemate Jagr in the way he shields the puck in possession and his hands are top tier. This kid plays in any of the large markets and he’s one of the faces of the league. Considering his age I would honestly take him over any #1 center in the league not named McDavid if I’m beginning a rebuild.

      King Of Finland yea that cuz thy are in Miami I live in Pensacola which is NW florida on the panhandle. We have an SPHL team and a lot of military people due to being near the US Naval academy it’s a city of 500k and we can sellout an 8000 seat arena for a minor league team 20+ times a year I think that they should just relocate here to to Jacksonville there’s a market for it and a higher percentage of northern transplants so there a much bigger and more passionate hockey fan base in north Florida plus Jacksonville is close to Atlanta so it would play to a lot of the former thrashers fans (yes they still exist I know many)

    • @Bruh-jr2ep
      @Bruh-jr2ep 6 лет назад +2

      TCY Oh okay. That relocation actually would make sense.

    • @tcy5499
      @tcy5499 6 лет назад +1

      King Of Finland if u can’t tell I’ve thought a lot about it plus they wouldn’t even have to change their name. Jacksonville would prob make more since as it’s a larger area but I know we need a new arena here so a relocation team could be perfect. And they can still be the Florida Panthers it even the Pensacola panthers

    Barkov is also an underestimated playmaker. He makes 30 goal scorers out of nobodys. This year it was Dadonov and last year it was Marchessault. People forget that Marchessault was a reject with total of 8 goals before they put him on Barkovs wing. Barky is a good guy to play with your young guys. He will help them to raise their game to next level.

    I think a great mentor to the style the he plays is his old teammate Jagr. He was a big influence on him, and thats how he learned to be so strong on the puck. He was always good defensively and playing without it, but his ability to shield off guys from the puck he learned from Jagr. They have the same stance and everything. I love the way Barkov plays the game.

    There are maybe 5 teams in the NHL who wouldn't trade their number 1 centre for Barkov. He's young, he produces offence and he's on a damn steal of a contract. And obviously he has all of the defensive responsibility of someone who has 10-plus years in the NHL.

    • @yuryur7982

    When he got drafted 2nd overall, most of us were surprised he was taken ahead of Seth Jones and Drouin. Now we know why. Barkov is one of the best 2-way centers in the game now. I have tremendous respect for the type of game he plays which is strong and sound. He may not be flashy and dazzle you, but he's so smart, and such a reliable, sound player and his hockey sense is first rate. Tallon sure knows how to find them!

  • @utubeevo

    I played against Barkov when we were kids. I remember we lost like 20-0. He was strong with the puck even back then, you just couldn't take the puck away from him, felt like his stick was 4 meters long even as a kid.

    Barkov is easily the best center of Finland, we are really missing him in the ongoing WHC. Great player, nice guy, well respected all around.
    If he ups one notch and plays 15 years, maybe he will be in the HHOF some day.

  • @hotwhiskey243
    @hotwhiskey243 6 лет назад +2

    YES!! Thanks for highlighting my favorite player outside of Lightning. 😎 Us Finns sure do know what he's all about. He definitely is a textbook example of a true, humble workhorse and a silent leader. That's why he is so well thought of in Finland, because that is the type of leader and a team player that younger Finnish hockey players and fans want to idolize and identify with. I guess that applies to other nations as well. Wouldn't be even slightly surprised if he gets the captaincy nod sooner than later, of course after MacKenzie's reign is over. That is the point in which I guess he truly gets recognized by fans and critics elsewhere also.

    As a Bruins fan, and as much as I love Bergeron, you are 100%correct that Barkov should have been nominated. Barkov's strong two way play is also similar to Kopitar but because he's been unable to stay healthy and prove himself in the playoffs it leaves him seen as not as good as the other star centers in the league.

    Stumbled on this old video, you might have to ”eat” some of your words on this insight. ” he will never score 40 goals”. Had 35 Last year but you may still be right, hope not. ”Career year
    ” naah hit 96 points Last season and he is not looking as he is slowing down, besides Panthers finally look like a decent team. Easy in hindsight to be a besserwisser but he is fun to watch, hope he stays healthy and break 100 points next season. Keep up the great work.
