I love that exquisite Matthew Brady photo of little Henry James and his father at 1:02. Henry remembers going to have the picture made at the Brady studio. He's wearing a tight fitting vest/shirt with lots of silver buttons that was a style for boys then. A visiting Thackeray commented to little Henry "If you lived in England all the boys would call you 'buttons'."

The lecturer sounds unfamiliar with, if not actually bored by his own material!
As you well should know, appearances can be deceiving.
This could have been interesting but the droning monotonous speaker drained it of interest
too bad for YOU
