I have used the Garmin 645 Music before, and the Coros Pace 2 is really my new go-to-guy running watch. I like the strap (and I normally run up to 70 km a week). I love the „easy usability“ of the watch with the two buttons. It is super easy to use it with my stryde foot pod with running power. They have power based trainingsplans on the coros homepage, which helped me a lot. And the long battery is simply amazing. If you have 10 percent battery and still can run 23 km in gps mode, you know you finally got the right watch. I just hear music with my iphone and never ever have missed my garmin 645. No need for another running watch. Let Garmin just publish a lot of gimmicks for their expensive watches. I (for heavens sake) don‘t need them anymore.
Dale Zigelsky I am FASCINATED by UI/UX and have lots of friends in the industry! So much work goes into that side of a product experience that very few ever realize.
Unfortunately I think Ethan is one of the very few reviewers that talks about this. That shows in the overall low quality of ui and ux in all the fitness watch brands / products... But who knows, maybe this is a new dawn! And yes... if i'm spending my own money in a fitness watch i want it to work properly! That certainly includes proper ux and ui, accross watch, app and web when available (Polar I'm looking at you!) Cheers!
I've watched well over 100 hours of RUclips videos reviewing smart watches and fitness trackers trying to decide which one is right for me. In all my years this is the first time I have EVER heard somebody say "Price," instead of "Pricepoint." I know it was an accident because you said "Pricepoint" three other times in the same sentence, but you should probably upload a video titled "COROS Pace 2 PRICEPOINT PRICEPOINT PRICEPOINT PRICEPOINT" And say "Pricepoint" 400 times in it or they'll come for you. Or whatever it is "they" do to you if you use the real-life word "price" instead of the nonsense word "Pricepoint." Joking aside, thanks for the video. This is my top choice for a new watch. Just wish it has music control.
Same! This watch has everything that I need as a experienced runner, but lacks music/Spotify which isn’t a major dealbreaker. That $200 is looking mighty good compared to Garmin that requires an arm, leg, and a kidney for their advanced models (pricey) 😂
For sure! The Garmin Forerunner line was my top choice for a long time, but I accidentally start runs with my Pace 2 far less often and have felt like it does everything I wanted in a watch! The Fenix line looked great but was WAY out of my price range. And should be out of any normal person's price range for a watch that isn't going to last much longer than 2 years at the most.
I have used the Coros Pace for 12 months and have been mightily impressed. I wanted an easy to use GPS watch that allows for easy to view basic in- run data (pace, time elapsed, distance and HR), and an equally intuitive app for straightforward analysis of run workouts. It has been superb! It also works well for swim and bike. Fantastic value for money.

when I was in the market for a new GPS watch was considering Coros a great deal, but still ended up buying the Garmin 945 and very happy with it. But for just €199 I will definitely recommend this watch to the runners in my running group who are searching for a new watch (and who don't want to spent as much as I did)!

Great review man! Saying things like I can get the device charged as I am en route to a trail, by the time I listen to my fav song? That's talking about ACTUAL use cases that matters to me! Keep up the great work!
Despite owning a Vantage V and FR935 I'm always looking for a barebones, no-frills running watch. I don't wear sports watches 24x7 but only use them for my runs, and finally this comes along - like a M430 with modern tech! Bought it two weeks ago and am waiting for Coros to ship them, which apparently they do end of Sept. Very much looking forward to using this watch. Will be my first Coros. As you said, who cares how it looks, I only put it on for running, and couldn't care less about their app since I never use brands' ecosystems but have a TP premium sub for years now.
Looks schmick, although oddly I feel like I’d strain to only spend $199 given I’m addicted to buying more expensive watches with features I never use.... Garmin has me under thumb... great review mate!
Just bought the Coros Pace 2. Too early to tell on the full experience but it has everything I need. I also have Garmin and Polar GPS watches but this Coros Pace 2 is at a far better price point

@@MM-ur5mw It's been a great watch for me so far. It's my first GPS watch, so I can't compare it with anything else. It has done almost everything I wanted it to, though. My only complaints are UI related. If you're solely using it for running, I think it's perfect. You can only pre-make workouts for running, swimming, biking and strength. Every other workout type, you have to do manually during the session. Programming swimming workouts can be a little annoying. If you're using imperial units, it has distance in miles, which doesn't make sense. So I had to switch the watch to metric, create a swim workout in meters, then switch back to imperial for miles for my running. And even then, you can't create a swim set that is only 50m long. I haven't had the issues GR had with the fabric band. If I try to swipe it open, it slightly unclasps and then reattaches itself. It's so light and unobtrusive, I sometimes forget I'm wearing it.
This has me interested. I have been just using a fitbit Charge 3, which until the last two months was working well enough that I didn't feel I needed a specific training watch. But they've messed up their GPS integration, thus distance/pace recently and may have to look to upgrade. Thanks for the nice review.

I’ve been following (chasing?) you since the infamous review of the original Fēnix versus the original Ambit...and I think you might be single-handedly responsible with an obsession for both GPS watches and running...so thanks. I think!😂 Gotta say, I am a Garmin fanboy...but you’re getting my interest up in Coros. When the time comes, I just might be taking a hard look at what they’ve got to offer.
Andrew Stevens I was Garmin all the way for yeeeears. So glad I opened my eyes to lots of other watch brands - the coros stuff has been more problem-free than anything I’ve tested in years.
TheGingerRunner I’ll definitely keep that in mind-I had a “breakup” of sorts with Suunto awhile back and went to Garmin, so I know all to well of the troubles of which you speak. I’m a mapping/GIS analyst by trade, so the tech behind these tiny gadgets we strap on our wrists fascinates me-I’ve done some experiments with crazy geeky math on the data and uncovered some rather interesting things. Maybe Coros needs to be my next foray!😏
Now running with an AW Series for communication with my Stryd via Bluetooth and using the Coros Pace 2 via ANT+. I get the best of both worlds with different metrics on each hand. And now will have a failsafe in case my AW dies for my next BOS '23 LOL.
8:56 - Personally, that's a wonderful feature to have where you cannot delete the workout. It helps with accidentally delete especially out of sheer fatigue.
BUY BUY BUY. ALTHOUGH...I love my Apex. Honestly I could give 2 you know whats about some of features the Garmin offers. This battery lasts FOREVER. I dont have to charge it on a 15 hour 100k effort. No wires hanging from my pack and wrapped down my arm. Can I get an Amen?
i'm already a 7mo coros apex user, and oh boy this watch killin it! I wanted to switch from garmin 5s+ because i pay for most fucntions i don't use and garmin battery IT's SUCKS! When you use Coros watches - there is nothing more than you need, all here and packed on your wrist. Also wanna say - better have a sertan watch faces then use garmin "custom" thing.
I have been using the Apex for a month now and love the battery life. Actually they give me a defective knob and replaced with a new one. I'm ready for my review of the Apex and I think this is the watch for my partner. She would be delighted. 💪
Sounds great to me. I don't need all the extra fitness stuff, just the basic stats, but including elevation gain. And this seems like the best for that, especially with the altimeter.
Switched from a FR 245 Music to this and really looking forward to using the watch for long runs and long bike rides. It's been only a day that I've bought this watch but I am really excited 👍
I don’t know if I commented, the first time I watched this.., but I had to double back, and watch again.. as I am thinking about this watch. and after watching again.., I am still on the fence. I’m not in the lurch though, as I have a budget garmin, so I’m good
Great review (as always). Thanks and keep up the great work! Now for the watch: what really puzzles me is the backlight thing. Can't understand how it can be such a problem to do it right nowadays. Not even a dedicated button needed! I've been using a Tomtom watch (currently considering getting a - yet still rumored - FR645/735 successor, or an Apex), where the backlight is activated by covering the display with a palm for a moment. Simple and (most of the time) working!
Great review! I just bought the apex just because I wanted the the bigger watch face. Seems like a great watch though! I really enjoy your channel! Keep all the videos coming!
Great review, as always. I'm surprised you didn't mention either the wrist-based running power or Stryd integration. Both of those features are why I'm jumping on the Coros bandwagon and setting my Garmin 935 aside.
I like the look of that screen, seems clearer than my Garmin Forerunner 235. If the strap is a standard size it could easily be replaced I imagine. Not so happy about some of the issues you mentioned in the app. I upload my data to Strava but I do like having the ability to go into the Garmin app or login via desktop and make changes
Had mine on all week, loving the functionality but if an Apex 2 comes out I might have to upgrade for a slightly more solid feel. Am I the only one that had to invert the digital dial to make the scroll direction feel intuitive?
Currently using my 3 year old forerunner 235. Looking for forerunner 245 but decided to pre order coros pace mainly because i used stryd footpod. I hope the custom workout performs similar to garmin and the user interface would not be a problem during the run.(especially the backlight activation)
I just purchased the Coros Pace 2 and love it love it... Do you know if it will work when I paraglide as an accurate distance, altitude etc and which mode would I use as Paragliding is not an option
I wonder if this would be a good tracker for my son. I want be able to track him when he starts traveling on his own for middle school. I have to do more research. Great review!
Your GPS accuracy was good in a trail condition? My early test sample from Coros was all over the place and I'm hoping it's just me and that my sample was defective! As far as most of your other points I agree! I like the Gorilla Glass readability, ease of use, and constant updates. However, the "digital knob" feels quite flimsy compared to the Apex pro or Vertix. I didn't have great results from the OHR sensor. But in reality, not a huge complaint for
Chase the Summit yeah the results are right on with what I was getting from my Apex Pro. Granted I haven’t done much deep-mountain travel for quite some time, so I’d say it works fine for front range stuff. The knob does have a cheaper feel than the few models above (and I’m still a bit mixed on a 2.5 button setup), but, for $200 it’s awesome!
@@TheGingerRunner On local trail runs here in Forest Park, Portland, my fenix 6 is anything, but accurate - 10-15% difference, even in trail run mode. I suppose Coros is just about as accurate. Oh yeah, my watch is 5x the price. Hmm....
One thing to note about the Pace 2 - the battery life is not actually better than any other watch. If you set the heart rate monitor to work real time. I set mine and the battery only last 7 days. The default is set to only monitor heart rate every 10 minutes.
I just got this watch two days ago and it fits like a dream! One question I have is about the bottom right button. It seems that if you click it with enough force to not actually click the button, it makes this slight clicky sound like there is slack before pressing. Is this normal or some sort of feature for sport watches? (Its my first gps watch ever and Im worried if I should have it checked right away or not)
I can't say how much I enjoy the feature set on this little miracle of a watch. If you're like me and have never used the maps feature on your bulky and overpriced Fenix, this might be up your alley as well. Stuff I don't like: no light button (as mentioned, thanks for the unlock tip), can't edit the sleep data, comparatively cheap looks - but keeps you a little more grounded than the beefy Garmin tank. I would consider Garmin again, but since those record me as being awake all night, all the body battery data is out the window. Hey ginger runner, waddaya say: does it make sense to look into Polar as well?
I missed some deep dive on data. I realised that I'm very motivated by Garmin's vo2 max, performance, training effect, etc. Resting days and body battery also helps me decide if I should work out. So I was wondering how this compares.
Hey TheGingerRunner, will this watch be great for GPS tracking and using detailed information/measurements for long walks and hikes? Im from Ontario, and I really fancy going for long walks and when Im up north in the Canadian wilderness I like to go for hikes off road in very wooded unpopulated areas. Thank you! Awesome review as-well.
Great review of the Coros Pace 2. Thx. Can I use this for pool and open water swimming? Does it measure the pool laps (distance) and distance in open water, please? I only need the most basic of info from my GPS watch - Distance and time. Cheers
I've enjoyed my Pace 1 for over a year now. Never had to worry about battery life, even with a just under 24hr 100mi run. The reason I probably like it most is the BUTTONS. I hate the stupid wheels and it's the big reason I returned my Apex I had. Really bummed they went that direction with the new model. Guess I'll eventually get used to it if I upgrade, but man. I hate scrolling while running.
I agree with a dedicated light button. Also, I guess scrolling up and down works fine and it functions as the up and down buttons on a Garmin fenix. But then you do need a light button for sure. Also, how hard is it to navigate through data screens with the scroll wheel while working out? The Garmin dedicated up and down buttons is a no look approach. Coros should just copy the Garmin 5 button navigation and look to improve on Garmin in other ways. I think Coros is now in a position to really take on Garmin, and I would be the first one to jump ship if they actually made it worthwhile. Saying that, I still think this is a super product that will compete well with the Garmin 45 considering they’re in the same price range. That says a lot when you also consider that with Garmin you also get the much more polished phone app along with being able to use a computer to look through your workouts. Garmin’s higher end watches also have maps of in the future you do want to upgrade to a product from the same company.
Hello, thanks for a very complete review of the watch! I have one question - does this support turn by turn navigation synced to Google Maps, please? ie. I start navigation on google maps and the watch would show distance left until I have to turn left / right etc.
Great review. The dislikes were really helpful and has put me off purchasing at the moment, I would get too annoyed! When they sort out this small issues I'll definitely consider this watch.
I've owned the Pace for over a year and absolutely love everything about this watch. How do you like the button controls on the Pace 2 over the original?
azhes77 the wheel grows on ya, but I do lean more towards tactile over “handiness”. Obviously I haven’t worn gloves in a few months, but this wheel will suck in the winter.
I have a garmin 645, and currently using a polar Grit X, both with the Stryd footpod. I have read that the pace 2 now has 100% compatibility with STRYD. have you tired structured workouts using power? plus on the UI front, can you trim an overly long activity (i.e. if like me you regularly forget to stop your watch, can you trim the end off?) garmin thinks I can run at 60mph... that might have been a car trip???) can you change the strap? and you hinted that the back light didnt stay on? thats something I like on my Grit X, is the evening activity backlight setting so that it stays on for my run... plus the location based laps is good... I'm human and dont always count laps well, especially if its maxed out efforts. does the track feature have that? or is it just that every 400m it knocks in a lap? - a really good review, thanks for sharing.
I really liked your review... Very specific and to the point. Thanks for that. One thing that I had never seen on any Coros review is the trade in program available at Coros web page. Any experience there? Cheers from México.
Hey great review liked it. Just a few questions: Can I sync Spotify? How is it for skiing? I guess it should have a ski mode with the baro altimeter? What do you think of lacking spox sensor? Is it something you use on other watches? Thanks
I have the original Pace and it has a trail run mode-- did they take that out for the Pace 2? I doubt they would that seems odd. Super want this watch though!
Thanks for review. I was looking for forward to the watch , but they cancelled my order on sept 2 so it is not a good first impression. Hopefully they make it right.
As I planned to get this watch, can I use it for a trail run as there’s no trail run list on the watch and one more question, does it reads VO2 max? Thank you…
Great review. The only thing preventing me from buying this now is the strap material. The velcro just doesn't seem like it would hold up well under constant motion. Any chance that one could swap it out for a silicone strap or no?
Smashing review per usual... Any notes on the waterproof-ness/resistance? As a swimmer/surfer/trail runner I wanted to know if anyone has any reviews from the field. Cheers and thank you.
After 3 years of use, I'm sad to say the crown button dial failed, rendering the training features of the watch useless. I very much liked the watch and paired application, but my concerns this button would be a failure point came true. Now I'm considering Garmin Instinct 2 and Polar Grit Pro X (while it's greatly on sale) instead.
Great review Ethan, can you upload gpx routes to Coros watches to follow? Obviously there’s no maps but I wondered if there’s a breadcrumb option like Suunto?
Is it possible to create workout with series? Example 10 times: 2 min run 30 sec rest, and after that 6 times: 1 min run 30 rest. I only menage to put 1 series. My English is a little bit rusty. Sorry for that
So the question I have; is there any reason *not* to buy the Pace 2 instead of the Coros Apex? I've been planning to replace my Suunto with an Apex soon, but this seems like it fills pretty much all of my needs, and none of the downsides seem to be that big a deal. A little more battery life for the Apex... anything else to differentiate between the two?
I primarily run trails. Nothing crazy and I don’t race. I just run for the love of running. When it comes time to replace my Forerunner 235, should I get the Pace 2 or the Apex to track my trail runs? Thank you.

i'm already a 7mo coros apex user, and oh boy this watch killin it!
Thanks for your honest opinions about this watch. I have placed an order for the white one with the silicon strap.
The battery life has me intrigued. Happy with my garmin... Even with the shit show last month but I'd definitely consider this as a replacement.
What happened with Garmin? When was this?
@@chinnyhowie garmin got hacked and nobody could use garmin for weeks
I have been using the Apex for a month now and love the battery life. Actually they give me a defective knob and replaced with a new one. I'm ready for my review of the Apex and I think this is the watch for my partner. She would be delighted. 💪
Sounds great to me. I don't need all the extra fitness stuff, just the basic stats, but including elevation gain. And this seems like the best for that, especially with the altimeter.
Switched from a FR 245 Music to this and really looking forward to using the watch for long runs and long bike rides. It's been only a day that I've bought this watch but I am really excited 👍
How do you feel about the switch now?
I don’t know if I commented, the first time I watched this.., but I had to double back, and watch again.. as I am thinking about this watch.
and after watching again.., I am still on the fence. I’m not in the lurch though, as I have a budget garmin, so I’m good
Great review man, gonna use one of them. Btw I'm all the wat from Malaysia. Stay safe
I’m using an Apple Watch series 4 and it’s been good however I am going to give the pace 2 a try
I'm looking for those loveable experiences with my watch 😍Upgrading from Garmin to this Coros soon.
Great review! I just bought the apex just because I wanted the the bigger watch face. Seems like a great watch though! I really enjoy your channel! Keep all the videos coming!
Did you know that the screen is exactly the same in watches with exception of the Apex 42mm? 1.2 in. 240 x 240 (64 colors)
The screen/UI looks really attractive. Thanks for sharing this review!
Thinking of getting one of these or Polar Vantage M. This sounds like a winner to be honest.
Many thank for this review. So I decided to keep on my Amazfit Stratos 3 watch.
Thanks for the insightful video. The comment on the velcro strap is really helpful. I will order mine with the silicone.
This watch is the business. You get so much bang for your buck and the battery..... its worth the money for the battery life alone. I love it.
I just purchased the Coros Pace 2 and love it love it... Do you know if it will work when I paraglide as an accurate distance, altitude etc and which mode would I use as Paragliding is not an option
Waiting for it to arrive next week, so excited!
Just ordered mine yesterday!
Great review!!!
I would like to know if results can only be monitored in the mobile app or is there a web app or something for pc as well??
Thank you for the review. Exactly what i was looking for. Going ahead with the purchase.
Have got one on the way!! Can’t wait
I missed some deep dive on data. I realised that I'm very motivated by Garmin's vo2 max, performance, training effect, etc. Resting days and body battery also helps me decide if I should work out. So I was wondering how this compares.
Just what I am looking for gonna get one. Thx
I have the Apex Pro and I love it, was most interested to see what the new straps are like, glad i didn't buy one now
Would be great if the app which Coros has possibly the best app for any GPS brand could notify you when your battery is down to 10% or something.
RUNNERGY agreed, just a lil heads up would be awesome :)
Thank you! Awesome review as-well.
nice review. how do you like the nylon band, does it get worn out after time? I can se the benefits in both bands
Great review of the Coros Pace 2. Thx. Can I use this for pool and open water swimming? Does it measure the pool laps (distance) and distance in open water, please? I only need the most basic of info from my GPS watch - Distance and time. Cheers
The track workout function is amazing! That kind of peaked my interest.... this might be goodbye garmin! 👋🏻
I hate scrolling while running.
this is all i need reliable and in budget 🤘🤙
The pace 2 looks so good and considering I use Strava for all my analytics I don’t think the UI Is a big issue for me.
Looking at Vivoactive 4, but I’m going to check this one out
Great review. Coros Pace 2 is great GPS watch.
What is disappointing to me is the fact that Coros uses lead to harden plastic.
Garmin’s higher end watches also have maps of in the future you do want to upgrade to a product from the same company.
ok! you convinced me. I even ordered it from running warehouse.
Hello, how is the button feedback? Solid? I have a lot of problems with Garmin buttons and I would like to be sure ..
Hello, thanks for a very complete review of the watch!
I have one question - does this support turn by turn navigation synced to Google Maps, please?
ie. I start navigation on google maps and the watch would show distance left until I have to turn left / right etc.
Following. I need a turn by turn and reroute when off course. Only the fenix 6 pro seems to have this function.
Please upload a video of Pace 2 comparison with Garmin Forerunner 245.
Hey Ethan question for you: Will you ever make a Garmin 245 watch review video?
I have a nylon strap on my Apex and have had no issues. Mine is new, so I wonder if they’ve upgraded the Velcro or if yours has lost it’s stickiness.
I really liked your review... Very specific and to the point. Thanks for that. One thing that I had never seen on any Coros review is the trade in program available at Coros web page. Any experience there? Cheers from México.
Really like that add more metrics and sensors instead of a music player and pay functionality.
Hey great review liked it. Just a few questions:
Can I sync Spotify?
How is it for skiing? I guess it should have a ski mode with the baro altimeter?
What do you think of lacking spox sensor? Is it something you use on other watches?
Thanks
What are you thoughts on the lack of trail running or hiking modes? Does the Pace 2 accurately track runs with lots of elevation change? Thanks
I have the original Pace and it has a trail run mode-- did they take that out for the Pace 2? I doubt they would that seems odd. Super want this watch though!
Is this a “bad” trail watch? Will it work on trails as long as there isn’t too much tree cover? Or should I just get the apex?
trees?
@kirwi trees? What is the significance of trees though? That's more what I was getting at
@@jabyers GPS gets blocked by cover sometimes.
You can choose either a nylon strap or a silicone strap when you order the watch.
How does it integrate with Strava? Does power and other metrics roll into Strava?
Thanks Nathan. Anybbody know if this watch is chargeable with a powerbank during a run?
I'm looking forward to trying it if it ever is available?
I have the pace and the battery life is fabulous!!! the app is so so.
Jay Durand winter sport modes, breadcrumb Nav, and some other features are lacking here. You can use the coros site to compare feature sets!
I primarily run trails. Nothing crazy and I don’t race. I just run for the love of running. When it comes time to replace my Forerunner 235, should I get the Pace 2 or the Apex to track my trail runs? Thank you.
@HoTajak Thanks for the info. I caved and went with the Apex. So far I love it.
