  • The Japanese occupation of the Philippines during the Second World War slowly met its end as the Allied Forces advanced from multiple points across the country in the last months of 1944. The forces of Japanese General Yamashita attempted to fortify the southern front of the country at Dadiangas (now General Santos City) by putting up a network of defenses across the city.
While serving as reminders of a dark part of our history, these bunkers remain to this day as one of the few extant wartime heritage sites of the country, and a source of both pride and allure for the city.
