The is the best explanation and demonstration of vibrato I have seen in a long time. I have watched many videos, looking for one to recommend to my students to use as an at-home reminder of the things we're covering together, and this is ray of sunshine on a difficult-to-grasp topic. Thank you!
Thanks!!! Your video is like a nice little holiday stocking-stuffer ! Great ideas ! I'm learning to be PATIENT with vibrato: it doesn't happen overnight.
When you move your hand back a forth to flatten and curve the DIP joint you are training, does your finger tip remain in the same spot on the fingerboard, or does it also slide little up and down the fingerboard?
Starting at 3:52 you describe pulling your hand to the left. That isn’t clear to me. If you are describing moving the hand left i.e do you mean moving the hand towards the scroll then reverse would be back to the bout? Technically for the arm motion you use the bicep to move towards the bout and the triceps towards the scroll. The motion is designed to curl the DIP joint and then flatten it returning to the scroll as I read it? Am I in the ballpark with an errant curve ball or have I hit a home run? I love this practice Laura! I could feel the tingle in my fingertips when I engaged my muscle correctly! Amazing.
I've been learning to play for a year now and I think this exercise is a great introduction and preparation to learning vibrato. Thank you, Lora.
Thank you!

Thank you so much! That's a great compliment from a fellow violin-teacher!
Amazing.
Absolutely agreed
Something new for me to try. I’m a beginner/intermediate player and always like trying something more challenging!

Yes, patience is the key! Glad you enjoyed it!
This is so helpful, I have been struggling with vibrato, so hopefully this will really help
Best explanation and demonstration of the Vibrato motion required. Thank you.||

Left handers us the rite part of their brain. Happyness is being left ✋ 🎻 handed.
Great tutorial, Lora!
Your explanation on DIP flat is so helpful to me. Thanks!
You're welcome!
Great! 😊

How can you learn not to have a death grip on your finger board
Here's one of my other videos that deals with the death grip: ruclips.net/video/MU69l30zWeM/видео.html

I want to learn Vibrato, but I am old. I may not live long enough to actually learn it
You should try it! Small steps, focus on little victories!
It’s taken me twenty years to realize it’s time to learn vibrato. Hell I’m still in first position.
