You don’t have to be, but it’s kinda an unwritten rule. You have a higher chance of joining a company if your pretty and talented, and you will definitely get less hate if you’re not ugly.

According to my South Korean brother-in-law's parents, I am pretty I have already started learning Korean. I have a friend I am planning to audition with. Not because you have this skills or looks means you can debut, I'm a former kpop trainee and as a former trainee, you don't get to be an idols just because of this qualities, just imagine you have all this but still needs to has it enhance, other companies actually do not care about such qualities if you have money or you are influential no matter the qualities you will debut, i was also like this, i used to trained with a popular kpop idols who already debuted, some of them are not that talented but they did debut because of money or influence, unfortunately I didn't get to debut despite having great qualities, in the trainees i danced second to the best i always get praised a lot specially for being a fast learner, i also have a good stable vocals and great facial expressions, in kbs i ranked by 86% and had a good body proportions as well, because I wasn't from a rich or influential company, I didn't debut, but one day i woke up and i saw how cruel the stability of a company was in managing. So now im living the life i never knew i could live, confidence is great but once your in training you will loose all that. Just a piece of advice:)

You are gonna have your ears due to the fireworks or the loud song that you are singing to not lip singing you will be treated like a toy and once all your perfect personality has been wasted, they would throw you away you will be forced to have plastic surgery on your face when you fail something you’re gonna have to pay for it to be fixed You have to learn new languages in such short time. No privacy at all even in hotel rooms. No freedom when you signed the contract.

Me: Visuals: I fit 77% of kbs, not the perfect kpop idol but I’m still pretty. Dance: I work on dance pretty much everyday and I’ve won a bunch of awards for my dancing. Also I do dance classes Vocals: I have a very nice voice. I attended vocal lessons for a few years and even now when I’m not doing lessons I’m still improving a lot which is rlly cool! Also my vocals are similar to Haewon, Karina, and Winter’s vocals. Stage presence: I’m very good at facial expressions I can match the vibe of the song pretty well, not to mention I used to be a competitive gymnast (I reached lvl 7 before quitting) and for gymnastics you have to smile nd stuff so you won’t be boring to the judges. Rap: I don’t rap that much but when I do I’m pretty good. I can rap daechwita so that’s good ig 😭 I’m not that young but even if I wanted to audition I wouldn’t become an idol because I want to become a doctor/orthodontist. If I didn’t have an Asian dad who wants me to prove myself by getting rich and graduating from an Ivy League college then I would definitely want to be an idol. :)

can't dance, can't sing, stage freight, im muscular (as in prominent abs, biceps, triceps) and not very dainty in general, my shoulders are bigger than everyones will to live, and i have shoe size 46 (european), and my only talent is being able to play video games.

becoming a kpop idol is not that easy as you think
k-pop idols actually have to eat less than a toddler to look pretty in front of the crowd
Not because you have this skills or looks means you can debut, I'm a former kpop trainee and as a former trainee, you don't get to be an idols just because of this qualities, just imagine you have all this but still needs to has it enhance, other companies actually do not care about such qualities if you have money or you are influential no matter the qualities you will debut, i was also like this, i used to trained with a popular kpop idols who already debuted, some of them are not that talented but they did debut because of money or influence, unfortunately I didn't get to debut despite having great qualities, in the trainees i danced second to the best i always get praised a lot specially for being a fast learner, i also have a good stable vocals and great facial expressions, in kbs i ranked by 86% and had a good body proportions as well, because I wasn't from a rich or influential company, I didn't debut, but one day i woke up and i saw how cruel the stability of a company was in managing.
So now im living the life i never knew i could live, confidence is great but once your in training you will loose all that.
Just a piece of advice:)
⚠Please read! If you wanna be a K-pop idol you will be set on many diets second you get over worked without any breaks third once you sign the contract your body is no longer in yours last you will have creepy fans ect!

Reasons why you shouldn’t become a K-pop idol. You’ll never get breaks and you will get overworked and you will go on a strict diet and you’ll eat less than a toddler to the point where you will pass out or faint on stage and you will get gifts with cameras in it You will have creepy fans once you sign the contract your body is no longer yours you will have new clothes that will be exposing and uncomfortable to wear when you dance you will get tired overtime even though you are a energy person, that personality will go away You loud you’re gonna have to sing. You are gonna have your ears due to the fireworks or the loud song that you are singing to not lip singing you will be treated like a toy and once all your perfect personality has been wasted, they would throw you away you will be forced to have plastic surgery on your face when you fail something you’re gonna have to pay for it to be fixed You have to learn new languages in such short time. No privacy at all even in hotel rooms. No freedom when you signed the contract.

Me:
Visuals: I fit 77% of kbs, not the perfect kpop idol but I’m still pretty.
Dance: I work on dance pretty much everyday and I’ve won a bunch of awards for my dancing. Also I do dance classes
Vocals: I have a very nice voice. I attended vocal lessons for a few years and even now when I’m not doing lessons I’m still improving a lot which is rlly cool! Also my vocals are similar to Haewon, Karina, and Winter’s vocals.
Stage presence: I’m very good at facial expressions I can match the vibe of the song pretty well, not to mention I used to be a competitive gymnast (I reached lvl 7 before quitting) and for gymnastics you have to smile nd stuff so you won’t be boring to the judges.
Rap: I don’t rap that much but when I do I’m pretty good. I can rap daechwita so that’s good ig 😭
I’m not that young but even if I wanted to audition I wouldn’t become an idol because I want to become a doctor/orthodontist. If I didn’t have an Asian dad who wants me to prove myself by getting rich and graduating from an Ivy League college then I would definitely want to be an idol. :)
