I hope people realize how much of a miracle it is that South Korea's been able to have democratic elections for the past 3+ decades now. Hundreds died, thousands were injured, and millions suffered to get to that point, and now Yoon has tried to end that tradition and essentially bring South Korea back to that dark past.
Even with everything that's happened, South Korea is still one of Asia's strongest democracies; that is a FACT. And I truly hope it stays that way.

Before the 1988 Olympics and new democratic Constitution, South Korea was also a military dictatorship led by generals, Heads of the KCIA, ruled by terror and hate against commies. By the end of Cold War the dictatorship ended in Seoul (not like in the North on the other side of the DMZ) but strong authoritarian attempts are remaining in the SK society , chiefly among the militaries, as we've recently seen.
