DKC3 is one game that did "completionism" really well. DKC2 had its bonus levels you unlock with Kremkoins and an extra ending if you got them all, but the DK coins were just kind of there. In DKC3, every bonus item has a function and they are all linked together. You need all the bonus coins in the regular levels to unlock all the secret levels (and you get the last bonus coin from the final boss). You need all the DK coins (including those in the secret levels, and you get the last one from the final boss rematch in the secret world) to unlock the Gyrocopter. And you need the Gyrocopter (as well as every sidequest) to get all the banana birds, which is the path to the true ending. The only thing it was missing is a TRUE final boss. As it is, the ending kind of fell flat, since the last things you actually DO are just a bunch of searching around and Simon Says minigames.
Agreed. It is honestly sad to see what DK 64 has become as a collectathon in comparison to DKC 3. Also, I don't care what anyone says, the DK coin being guarded by a Koin enemy in every level was a brilliant design choice. Maybe collecting a giant, suculent spinning DK coin in DKC 2 that made a neat little sound effect was more satisfying to some in DKC 2, but every time I found a Koin in DKC 3 I got excited, cause it was a quick and (usually) easy little puzzle that (usually) required you to use your knowledge of the stage's mechanics to figure out how to get it. That's game design done right in my book.
The think the myth about mice came from the the face elephants hate getting small things stuck to the bottom of their feet: They can actually detect elephants from miles way through vibrations in the ground and elephant low rumbles. So their feet can be sensitive to little things stuck between them. So if elephants see small things like mice go by they might visibly freeze up and back away from it or be mindful. They'd be just as likely to back up if you threw a bunch of marbles on the group near them.

DKC3 really is underrated. It’s just as strong as the other games, with its own unique strengths. Yes choc. Play jungle beats that would be hilarious.
As a DKC3 veteran this was one of the funniest dkc videos of my life, thanks for giving me the nostalgia smile, my dude. Subbed.
DK3 has the best atmosphere out of all the original 3. I'm from Canada, so it reminds me of camping in the Canadian wilderness as a kid.
This guy may not be as good at the game but his humor kept me smiling somewhat throughout the video.
I had DKC1 and DKC3 on the GBA and always loved it. I totally agree that 3 is underrated.
Fun fact: swimming is just flying in water and flying is just swimming in the air
True... I guess?
The problem DKC 3 had was that DKC 2 was a REALLY hard act to follow.
Kiddie longs special is when u somersault into the water the right way he bounces
Lmao, I loved that Koin POV perspective.
Even tough it's the least favorite for me it's still a great game. If this was the first DKC it would get more praise
It couldn’t have been first, this game has way too much content to be a first installment.
2:16 is just so hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'd just like to say I constantly come back to watch the country series, choc :D I hope to see 64 and a coop playthrough of the country trilogy!
“Turn you into a sandwich “
Choc, 2021
Remember Krematoa, spin 4 laps counter clockwise on the 4 rocks to the right of the map.
clockwise works too.
I agree this game is so underrated played the DKC trilogy on my 3DS and my God l love the hub, the mixer of the original DKC and DKC 2 levels, the Swanky Kong bonus game and no repeat bosses !
13:18 Love that Beatles Reference man. I'm a sucker for good Beatles References. :)
Finally someone giving love to dkc3
This game is more like: you gotta give yourself a challenge.
Try beating the game with one life.
Try beating the game without saving.
Try beating the game without Dixie but with Kiddy only.
Try beating the game without touching any bananas or getting the minimum amount.
Try beating the game again but on hard mode: (Do not touch the check point barrel)
Try beating the the world record: 1 hour and 43 minutes. If you go over, you must restart.
Elephants are actually afraid of bees.
I can’t agree more choc, DKC3 is underrated
it's my favorite of the trilogy
This series was “MY HEART” As a teenager I have physical copies of all three to this day!!! I might have to play them for nostalgia purposes soon!!!
dude, if you can't jump, ROLL.
Some people hate on dkc3 so much, but it has ALWAYS been my favourite. After 27 years, my opinion has never changed
DK: I bet even Cranky would be impressed after that!
Cranky: Nope, not really.
Cranky is savage. No wonder he got a Rabbid version.
These underrated gems like DKC3 And this goes with any media, You can Love of A Franchise But Despise the fanbase. Or shall I say 'hatebase' since the social media has really made a group of people much meaner these days.
Yeah unfortunately trolls very much own the internet now
Yes! Jungle Beat was my life as a kid! BONGOS ALL THE WAY!
Fun Fact: Kiddy Kong is Chunky Kong's baby brother.
5:17 NOT THE BEES!!!
Elephants don't really fear mice specifically but they do fear bees.
Fun fact: if you fall out of a plane without a parachute you will fall for the rest of your life
Unpopular opinion:the gba port of dkc3’s ost is perfection
Isn’t that the popular opinion. A lot of people prefer the GBA soundtrack
@@paulgilbert5278 yeah I know but the gba soundtrack of dkc3 is a banger
@Reesie the Kirbo Im with you on it since the GBA version of the game's OST is more memorable than the SNES version's OST
You know I feel like there is a story to this trilogy that nobody is looking into.
I just looked it up and yes elefents are afraid of mice they dont like things crawing around there feet
Wrinkly Kong plays Super Mario 64 when you enter her cave sometimes. You can hear the music of the Princess Peach’s Castle playing those times.
lmao I love your humour
Playing both the GBA and SNES version, GBA has a soundtrack to parallel DKC1/2.
I absolutely agree. It alone makes the GBA version the definitive one
I just want a port with the screen resolution of SNES and the music of GBA. They feel like halves of a top-tier DKC in their individual forms.
Seems like you may have got your wish
Oh hey, my Favorite DKC game! (It's too bad you didn't play the World 8 Levels because they are seriously hard!)
Glad I'm not the only one who got SMRPG vibes from the barrel boss
I feel like I played a black & white version of this game... Maybe a GameBoy port?
2:24 just imagine kiddy kong arm wrestling in preschool. Scary thought
I had to go play through this before i watched it cause i havnt played it in like 22 or so years. So many memories
So many memories. My younger brother had the GBA port of DKC3. Don't think we ever made it much further than the spider boss
It feels so good to see the "Oh Brother! This Guy Stinks" bit in a choc video again
I fucking love Donkey Kong lore
It’s my favorite of the 3
Look at the goal at around 17:19, there's a split-second graphical glitch.
9:52 well I mean you can see his shoes in the garbage during the "cranky's video games heroes" screen
3:33 Actually, elephants are afraid of bees!
Kiddy Kong can breathe underwater.
I LOVED the Kooshlings! I collected them for the longest time! Sadly my dog ate half of them...
I think the enemys look different because after the events of dkc2 there forces went down a lot in dkc3 its less of a army and more like a resistance
*reads title*
Me: Too fuckin right.
This is my favorite DKC game
“I just eat other insects “
Choc,2021
"this is how the trilogy ends" ohhh Silly you you forgot the Lost World
theres a 64 in wrinkly kongs place because this game came out in 1996. a bit later the same year that the 64 came out
0:15
Choc you can’t mention your bongos and not offer us a concert. We WILL riot.
Good stuff man😂 it is underrated for sure. Glad I bought all 3 last year. Had to beat em all again.
Those hedgehogs DID look like Kooshlings. I was thinking about that the other day.
I’d love to have this game on switch, I enjoyed playing it back in the day.
Elephants are actually scared of the german heavy tank called the "mouse"
