They literally all celebrate the downfall of each other. Velma has “blatantly” been gay, but it never mattered in the original show , they are milking that fact more than anything else in the show
I love how Velma’s voice never matches how she is animated, like there’s literally a scene when she is animated to be angry and shouting, but the VA was talking normally.
I can just picture the animators rolling their eyes in the studio when they read the script or hear the dialogue, wishing it were anything but this, but of course the bigwigs approved of it so they had to animate it anyway.

HBO Max turning off comments on the Velma trailer was a huge sign of them admitting failure and them having a hard time handling criticism. If you turn off the comments on a show/movie that's to be released to the masses, then that shows you are not confident in your show/movie.

That would have been cool ngl but I think it's better we never actually see Scooby and Shaggy lighting it up. Idk. It's one thing to know it's happening but to see it...idk. It'd kinda lose the magic of it. The show would definitely work though...probably better than Velma. That being said, Velma isn't that bad. Am I a fan of the race change? No. Is it the best at everything it does? No. Honestly speaking though, it does do things right. The animation is good, the hallucination scenes good, the mystery/ mysteries have potential to be actual mysteries and not "here's some information after we've unmasked the criminal that we didn't give you before so you could try and figure it out", and the action is well done (like when Fred sliced off the guy's foot (a bit of a spoiler but if you haven't watched the show and this makes you interested, you still won't know when it happens until it happens). Would Fred do that normally? No. The characters aren't Scooby-Doo characters, they only have the names and wardrobe. Velma isn't a Scooby-Doo show though and it's not calling itself one. I think it's pretty cool though. I'd say watch it and just roll with what they give you and don't expect Scooby-Doo (if you haven't checked it out yet).

As a black kid that grew up watching Scooby-Doo; I mean with the VHS specials, stuffed Scoobies, and the Wal-Mart picture cake of the mystery team every early childhood birthday; the previews for this show just made me confused and sad. It just feels like part of my identity is being shoehorned into another part that feels completely unrelated to me; and it feels more tainted than empowering.
Well, identitarians think everyone's as shallow and narcissistic as they are, and they have no creativity, so can you blame them for trying to engineer culture instead of create it?
They love using black people (or whatever minority is trending among American liberals) for their own personal image and advantage, I wonder where all those "black lives matter" slogans were before 2020 with these companies, nowhere to be found.
Fred went from being a guy who barely tolerated the crew (according to his original backstory), to now an angsty guy, so... Fred became the very character that feels like us, we hate this new crew.
I already know the plot: starting out everyone dislikes Velma or something, then when she solves the murder everyone loves her. Edit: man this blew up fast
Issue is, character-wise, Velma was ALWAYS the no-nonsense character. She would have little bits of sassiness randomly, but was never meant to be the comic relief like shaggy and scooby. If they would have done a Velma spin off with the same, more adult, vibe as something like Murder She Wrote, people would have probably loved it.
Yeah and it could of been Velma, Scooby and Shaggy as the main characters and introducing a few new characters even ethnic ones. There could have been a start of romantic relationship between Velma and Shaggy progressing more as the episodes moved forward. They had so many good ideas for this. I like the animation but the show is shit. Changing the ethnicity of main characters that have been with us for nearly 50 years. Like wtf?
I don’t think Velma is really that sassy outside of Mystery Incorporated. She’s a skeptic over everything even remotely supernatural, but she isn’t really sassy.
Especially agendas they themselves don't believe. You can't want proper treatment of gay people while also wanting to give Muslims even more representation while not actually acknowledging the way Islam treats gay people. Those are plainly conflicting ideas. It's like the couple they show in the background of Hilda all the time who are both women, one of them is Muslim, one of them isn't, & their daughter is Muslim. It raises too many questions. How can someone dressed up in misogynistic Muslim clothes be openly gay? How can a gay woman who's not Muslim be okay with her young daughter being dressed that way? How does Islam exist in a fantasy land where real history & real places don't exist? Do other real religions exist? Why aren't they being represented? Where did the Muslim woman come from? Did Islam originate in Trollberg? If so, why? If not, why did a Muslim woman escaping from an Islamic country go through troll territory to go to a walled-in town made specifically to keep trolls out instead of going to a place that's not full of trolls? Did 9/11 happen in the Scooby Doo universe? What about the crusades & the Spanish Inquisition? What about that mass r@pe incident in Germany? Did Muhammad r@pe a 9-year-old in the Scooby Doo universe? If he did & Velma knew about it, would she be okay with it because it was his culture? Not that I'm against Muslims simply existing in the background of shows in a realistic context but they're putting Muslim women in the background of nearly every cartoon lately even when it makes no sense in universe & even when no other religion is represented. And a lot of the time, the cartoons are for kids. I'd rather not have the brainwashed victims of a ch1ld r@pe cult that preaches genoc1de be in a ch1ldren's cartoon with no context given & a rosy lens put over it.
Fred then - a charismatic leader who intellectualized the traps Fred now - an egotistical manbaby with 0 personality Daphne then - the master of disguise who used fashion to uncover who was behind the masks Daphne now - the smart Asian Shaggy then - the glue that held the group together Shaggy now - a black stoner who hates 420 humour Velma then - the smart one who used logical clues to pinpoint who was behind the masks Velma now - sassy Indian who has the personality of a wall and who’s story arc can be summed up with “I stopped caring about how I was the reason my mom left the family”
I literally thought the exact same thing, why not just make them a whole new group. They pretty much changed everyone's personality to the point where they may as well be a new character anyways. I'm sure this would've been much more well recieved had they taken the time to be more original as opposed to doing what producers LOVE to do nowadays which is either make a TV/Film adaptation of someone else's work and do it 0 justice, or take an already existing piece of production and change things just for the sake of changing them with no real reason or connection to the overarching plot.
From goofy jock too sassy gay, from rich fashionista too drug addict, from smart and sarcastic too rude alcoholic, from food loving stoner too anti drug boring dude, what a great change.
This is what you get when authors unironically believe, that diversity and representation is way more important than coherent writing and storytelling.
@@Piromysl359 it's because writers change shit for no reason rather than "oh now we can call people racists if they dislike it for valid reasons", it's Ghostbusters 2016 all over again.

"You hate this thing with every fiber of your being, hearing about it makes you gag, and think you're better than the author? Here, a blank check, go wild."
Something about actually wanting to do something good makes them writhe in agony on the inside, they wont be content until everything good is corrupted and ruined. Either that or producers are the among dumbest fucking breeds of human to ever exist in a position of power
Writers just need to stop changing up old characters and create new characters with pure genuine stories that everyone can grow to relate to. They keep repeating the same mistakes failure after failure.

"There needs to be a level of respect paid to the source material" was a really good way to put the entire show. All it does is twist the characters into some sort of half-assed family guy flashback skit.
I actually quite like the show, granted I was never a massive fan of the original show but I watched it from time to time. The writing isn't the best, but I'd still say 5 to 6 out of 10, it's Scooby Doo for the Rick and Morty generation... 🤣
After the absolute gold that was mystery incorporated, Velma never stood a chance. Especially because they could not properly interpret what people liked about the characters, let alone write them even remotely correctly. Fred being the main example, they butchered him to pieces. This show has absolutely god awful writing and no understanding of what people liked about Scooby Doo in the first place, it is merely another shitty adult animated cartoon with the Scooby Doo label slapped on top to haphazardly cover up the abominable writing.
One of the newer scooby doo series’s mystery ink wich may or may not be cannon idk but in one of the later episodes it showed multiple different scooby doo type groups that have existed throughout the years wich would have made a much more interesting plot and be more “cannon” with the race swapping because they would have been new characters with new stories.
And if they'd done that, the race swapping would've at least worked as a visual queue that it's the show that takes place in another dimension, which would solve a problem some of the Scooby Doo shows have. Looking similar to the point that people don't know which one they're seeing & they mix the good ones up with the bad ones.
The line "Scooby Dooby Doo where are you" hits so much harder now

Why can’t shows jsut be shows anymore. Why do they have to sneak in agendas for no reason
