    I got my LC1 frame and the LC1 strap and pad set from GBfans. Its a pretty good replication of them, and its much cheaper than the vintage gear.

      Thanks for making this comment. I've been really curious about the gbfans LC1, I just don't know anyone who's gotten them. Just a quick question...are the straps a nice olive color? I purchased a random set of straps online and when they arrived they were a dark forest green like a Christmas tree. Smh.

      @andy86i Год назад

      @@Calmerthanyou yeah, the colour is accurate, and I put shaving cream on it to make them more screen accurate. (In the elevator you can clearly see remnants of shaving foam from shooting the marshmallow scenes!)

      Hey Andrew, because if your post I went ahead and ordered a set of LC1 straps from gbfans back in late November. Today, when they arrived and saw the material and color I immediately thought of your post. Out loud I said "damn, he was absolutely right." Dude, THANK YOU! You were 💯% correct when you stated "they're a great replication".

    I've had a Rothco LC-1 frame from Amazon sitting around for the better part of a year now, in anticipation of the HasLab Proton Pack. I've outfitted it with a vintage LC-2 kidney pad and most recently, vintage LC-2 shoulder straps.

    I'm a military guy so already had both an LC1 and an LC2 in NOS condition. I ordered the Haslab pack and I'm on the Mack's idealized wait list. I'll build an 84 and an 89 and that'll be that. They'll be gorgeous together. Report all ghosts!!

    Well, I now know what Alice frame I have which is nice (rothco). My one concern was that it might not hold the weight of the haslab pack...but It seems that it will. I just don't get why rothco would manufacture them and sell the frames and ruck sacks if they don't hold the type of weight that the originals held.

  • @SomeWeirdCat

    Huh, seems i got rather lucky with my alice frame as it's millspec using the older rothco straps. Didn't even plan that, I just got the cheapest one I could find online a while back when I planned to add a frame to a spirit pack

  • @MetalNCarnet
    @MetalNCarnet Год назад

    The most important thing to note really is to do what makes you happy with your pack. If you're going for screen accuracy, then these details might matter to you. For those who just want a frame to make the pack feel more complete, you can go with any one of them. It's your pack. Make it yours. I find the unique ones more interesting than the screen accurate ones. To me anyway, an accurate one is boring because it's so common. Every GB cosplayer has one. Custom ones are more fun!
    A good example is Adam Savage's proton pack he made himself. He added his own upgrades to it (even an antenna!). He has a video of the build on his Tested youtube channel. He also got to show it off the the cast/crew of Ghostbusters Afterlife at a con too. Their reactions were priceless.

    Just got a vintage LC-2 w bag and straps, it has a slightly later style buckle and looks like the tension strap was replaced as its a plastic buckle style as well, Id like to find a similar belt to yours though. I dont trust the Rothco stuff very well, its el cheapo spec (yes real mil is lowest bid, but the quality tends to be there, vintage frames survived grunt abuse for 40+ years) but unfortunately vintage is thinning out. Was lucky to find a vtg LC-1 and straps though and waiting on arrival now

  • @mcbaine3793

    I am curious, with the availability of these frames, I wonder why production didn't just get real ALICE frames...
    I just got all my vintage Lc-2 gear for around 30$ more than Rothco's repro, and with Lc-2's being common in GB2 packs; it would make sense that Egon and Ray would have upgraded all the packs to Lc-2' be more comfortable for all of them while busting and would be that way for Afterlife. It was an odd choice.

    • @TheProtonPackIsNotAToy
      @TheProtonPackIsNotAToy  Год назад +1

      I think the explanation Ben Eadie gave was it was more convenient to buy all of the milspec frames because they would look identical, and they could weather them however they wanted, rather than having older frames and straps that would’ve probably been mismatched colors with varying degrees of wear.

    • @mcbaine3793
      @mcbaine3793 Год назад

      @@TheProtonPackIsNotAToy That makes sense. Well, now my curiosity is sated, thanks. Can you point me to that interview?
      One last question, what black spray paint did you use on your Lc-2, flat black?

    • @TheProtonPackIsNotAToy
      @TheProtonPackIsNotAToy  Год назад +1

      It was from December 10, 2021, a TikTok video he linked on the Spengler 1984 Workbench Facebook group page. The link is dead now, unfortunately.
      I think I used flat or matte on my LC-2, but it would probably look better with a glossier sheen.

    Hey man, thanks for all the great info. I’m in the U.K. and these frames are a very expensive purchase. Are there different sizes of Alice frame and will that make a difference with the hasbro pack? Also, do the straps that come with the hasbro pack be put on the frame?

    • @TheProtonPackIsNotAToy
      @TheProtonPackIsNotAToy  Год назад +1

      You’ll want a frame that comes with straps. The Hasbro straps would look right with a real frame. People are saying the LC-2 frames aren’t fitting (I’ll confirm when I get mine), so you’ll probably need to shop for a mil-spec frame, as the original LC-1 frames are scarce, even in the states.

  • @captainpatspopculturesteam2300

    Cool info, thanks. Super stoked with my new haslab pack. Considering adding a frame to it but also it sits so well on the included stand and I know the stand becomes worthless with a frame attached. I own a rare prototype pack from GBII ( apparently it was the the one they made to be lighter which Bill said “still too heavy” too, hahaha. It’s my crown jewel. Your details seem to confirm the era it was built. Didn’t know so many details about the different frames/straps so way cool video!! Sub+1! Any lead on the super straps?? I really want some of those but can’t find them anywhere!!!

    Thanks for this video! Great info! awesome that you take the time to share this with us! I´m one of the bunch waiting for the Haslab Proton Pack, so, I was considering a Rothco, but I was reading some folks having accidents (Snaped crosmembers), so I´m in the search for an original GI frame, just want to ask you, should I look for an LC1, or is the LC2 a better fit? I´m not into screen acurate perfection, instead I´m more into the best and comfortable option. Thanks in advance! and Keep the great videos coming!

    Hey thank you so much for all your time and effort in your videos! Also in replying to all the comments. Very impressive!My question is what is the rothco strap number that you get when purchasing the rothco alice frame? I know that they have two model numbers. The 2261 and the 2269. Which one would it be that you received with your rothco alice pack. If I had to make an educated guess I bet it's the 2261 as the 2269 is the upgraded version.

    • @TheProtonPackIsNotAToy
      @TheProtonPackIsNotAToy  Год назад +1

      Easiest way is to put pipe insulation up there, and for afterlife wrap it in neoprene. For GB/GB2 wrap it in gaffers tape. GBfans has a more accurate foam if you would rather not use the pipe insulation.
