    I am a birch tree lover, just loved the 2nd print with the pale trunks. I like the look of the green tool you used to smooth the highest textures. Please can you tell me the make and model as it looks as if it would suit my small hands.

      Hi Kat, in England it’s a paste you use to fill cracks in the wall. You can use tile adhesive as well. All should be available in DIY stores.

    Fantasy Beautiful. On all of them.
    How did you seal your colograph plate? I’m thinking polyurethane spray?
    🌸💜

    • @CollagraphPrinting
      @CollagraphPrinting  Год назад

      Thank you so much. I sealed it with shellac, but you can seal it with other things, like diluted wood glue or acrylic media. Shellac is better as it allows to show through more detail. These days I tend not to seal my plates at all as I don’t do editioning and most of my prints are one offs. If there’s an issue of paper sticking to your plate, you can rub some refined linseed oil on it, which really helps. Happy printing 🤗

      Maybe we should start a collagraph plate movement, frame and exhibit our frames? 🤔😉

    Love your print--beautiful! I am just starting to explore viscosity printing and am having difficulty with the two variables: viscosity of the ink and hardness of the rollers. First, do you start with the least viscous or most viscous--sorry, this continues to confuse me! Second, how does the harness/softness of the rollers work? Do you use the harder roller with the less viscous or more viscous ink? Thanks so much for your response!

    • @CollagraphPrinting
      @CollagraphPrinting  2 года назад

      I agree, it is very confusing! You start with hard roller and more viscous ink. The looser ink will cover the more raised bits of the plate as the harder roller will not reach the grooves. Then you go over with the softer roller and normal ink and press harder. This time ink will go into the carved out bits and be repelled by the previously rolled looser ink on the higher surfaces. Hope this helps

      You can do viscosity printing without a press. I actually fancy doing a video on that so watch this space 😀

    It's fantastic Marta. You've really captured the essence of the trees and the water. Can I ask, did you study art at university? How did you get interested in collagraphs? Thank you for sharing (-: Marion

      Thank you so much Marion! I’ve been painting since I was a child but studied Molecular Biology at University. For many years I’ve painted with oils then watercolours and about 4 years ago I took a course in printmaking at a local workshop and haven’t stopped printing since! I find it so much more exciting than painting

    What allows for the green ink to repel the blue when you did a top roll?

    • @CollagraphPrinting
      @CollagraphPrinting  2 года назад

      The looser ink repels the denser ink, which is a principle of viscosity printing
