Was on sertraline 100mg for over 2years. It literally made me gain over 30kg and I felt more lost - brain wasn’t sharp. Also short memory goes down hill. I completely stopped them 6months ago at once. 2weeks we’re hard but now I’m feeling normal and sharp again! There a lot of us out there on this medication if u need help or a chat drop me a message some how and I’ll try my best to support you brothers! Keep your chin up 💙🫡

Well done Sam! Been there, done that, worn the t.shirt so to speak. 2020 was the most rough year (or should I say when it began) I lost my little Brother, I suffered Major Depression which led to Acute Anxiety and eventually caused Agoraphobia, I didn't leave my own home for near on 2 years.. I was on all sorts of meds that as you say 'I thought they were helping me' but the truth is they weren't. I'd gone from a Size 12 to a 22! That's literally because I was sitting around doing nothing (that's not me) something in me made me one day decide I'd had to get myself right again in the sence of mentally & physically.. I started off by going to the gym early hours of the morning being so embarrassed at how I'd let it all get to me and the weight gain and from there I can tell you I have never EVER looked back. I'm now back to work (Dementia Nurse) still in the gym and down to a 10 .. off all meds other than Anxiety meds however they have been reduced due to me feeling so much better.. I get out, I live!! I'm loving life so much more as my Brother would want me to.. to anyone that actually reads this lengthy comment, you've got this, you can and will turn your life around. One day at a time, baby steps.. you've got this ❤

I stopped the adhd and autism tablets turned to drink but life I suppose glad your doing better thou Sam ❤

I have literally just come off Mirtazapine 4 week ago after tapering down 10% a month for 12 month. Was on 45mg for 6 year. I feel so much better now im off em. I cant describe how much better i feel not being on them. The only negative is I sometimes wake up in the night, probably a side effect of not being tranquilized by the pill every night. Get off them if you can!
I agree with you here they are awful tablets good to start with. I was only on 15mgs but decided to stop them after a few years as they used to knock me out. I came off mine within 3 weeks via GP advice & I feel so much better looking back I was a zombie on them.
Any anti depressants should be stopped with guidance through your GP never on your own & tablets should never be cut in half either. Be very careful its dangerous.

Welldone sam keep at it. Im on mirtazapine aswell ive recently started halfing them and feel better for it. They deffo fo make you groggy in the mornings
Hi congratulations for feeling better and being able to taper down. As a medical writer I work with pharmaceuticals and just want to point out it’s super dangerous to cut some tablets as they are what is known as “prolonged release” which when cut can lead to massive overdoses and be fatal. Please please point out that tapering should be done with a HCP even if it’s over the phone and should never be done on your own. Also if you half a dose and then re-take the original dose after a few weeks at a lower dose then this can also be the cause of an overdose. No hate here just need to make it clear that this can be dangerous.
Hi Sam have you thought about taps in the middle for your bath so no one gets the taps? Also have you got a cupboard planned for towels and bedding?

I've been on 45mg mirtazpines n they pile weight on ya, make me so hungry on a night time, and so groggy on a morning but they do help with sleep
